Pregnancy And Parenting

Recommended Posts

Just over 1 year since Skye has been born, walking & talking(some crazy language) which the mother in law thinks is English,. as I speak back in gobbly goot  to her.

Really happy with my fathering (is that word), nobody thought I could do it, but I'm still here (day off today).

To watch her progress is 100 times better than working. To add, wife got promoted, so we are actually, breaking just under even before my redundantly.

I've also got a wee job as a consultant with my old boss, had to report for my first meeting on Friday....which meant I took all the family with me.   After, my 4 hour meeting we went to them beach. (5 hours away from my house, 20 mins from my meeting).

First set of jags for the wee one today, she was a trooper and calmed down very quickly after it all.

Just hoping the side effects don't come to much for her.

Kindle fire HD and you can get the dafty cases
Usually a black Friday deal too

My two have been through a couple of these. Fantastic though. Use the big dafty cases. I don't like them to over use them but it seems to calm my youngest with autism right down if I need to get on with cooking, ironing or that. Crazy how quick they were experts of YouTube.

My youngest decided he wanted his tablet washed along with the dishes and chucked it in the kitchen sink after I'd filled it to do the the dishes. Gubbed after that. Found I've had to replace them every year but usually there's a deal at £30 down from £50.

Fraser starts nursery on Monday. Settling him in early for me going back to work in January. He's doing 1 day a week to begin with.

He had his "1 year checkup" at Raigmore this week. They Doctors are really happy with his progress and he is meeting all his milestones for his corrected age of 11 months.

My wee boy is about to turn 4 just before Christmas.  It's not been too long and I'm sure it'll all come back.

My firing pin is out anyway, but the thought of going back to that stage for a third time fills me with horror, so fair play.

20 week scan tomorrow morning. Not sure if I am looking forward more to that, or to having a good excuse for turning up to work an hour late.

Are you finding out?

Planning on it, yes. Neither of us is particularly bothered beyond the fact that she has some kind of instinctive feeling that it will be a girl, and I automatically said "Bet you 10 francs it's a boy".

If you’re not that bothered about it then don’t find out and wait until the day for the surprise. Alternatively have the outcome written on a piece of paper then stick it in an envelope and open it up on Xmas day.

We'll be finding out mostly from a practical point of view. They are still a bit more traditional here with their view on all these newfangled "woke" thingmies and we will have to register early for things like child care and the like, and they want to know all this shit before they will consider entertaining you. Also, it means I can instantly reduce a huge % of the possible names we might give it. And anything that reduces my potential workload is good by me.

ETA: I may consider a "Gender reveal shotgun party". Anyone who wants to take part can stare down the barrel of a shotgun and I will gladly fucking end them.

My third was easiest baby, once I recovered from her nearly killing me, don’t know if it was because you’re more relaxed as a parent third time round helps.

She’s a stubborn wee brat now. Soooo yeah good luck!

Dunno if it's different up the road but when my Mrs asked the radiographer(?) to do this a few weeks back* she was told they can't do that. So the woman told my mother in law and she put it in an envelope for us.

* I was in Glasgow and we wanted to find out together via video call.

We didn't bother. We did have a name agreed for a girl but not for a boy tho. I'd suggested Joe, because if she'd come out on her due date, she'd have had the same birthday as Joe Louis. As it is, she got Mr T, Biggie Smalls and Jeffrey Dahmer.

Scan done, all looking good and as it should. It’s a boy, which means scrapping the dozen or so names we had as potentials. Couldn’t get a 3D picture, every time the lassie tried the wee one moved his arm over his face. Next time I expect he’ll have worked out how to give us two fingers at the same time.

I would never have thought of that one myself, a friend of mine is doing just that this Xmas and I thought it would be quite a decent compromise between waiting and finding out on the day/finding out due to impatience 5 months before the baby is actually born.

Evie was talking about her other grandad, whom she calls papa. I'm granda and I'm "old as old" whereas papa must be a young thing (comparitively speaking).
