Enigma
Oh and see all these people who say......oohh it's your first you'll go late......they lie. Of PB'ers along and IIRC correctly, Ayrgirl, HCG and I have all gone early with our firsts! I was my mum's first and was 5 days late, as was my sister.

John Barleycorn
My mrs is 13 weeks pregnant, had the scan, all is well. but i am a nervous wreck!i have been reading the books and magazines to try and prepare myself, got the family car now too. is it normal to be nervous about everything?? does it ease? good thing is, i'm drinking for 3 now! Just remember that the books and mags only give advice, not hard and fast rules. The baby has not read the books so don't expect he/she to fit in with what they say. As a father of four and granfather to eight, I've got a little experience made all the mistakes.

Homer Thompson
I recommend this book. Especially, if you're a bit geeky. My gf read loads of books before our first but, as others have said, it is only advice. You have to adapt it to what suits you all best. My gf read one, for example, that was incredibly strict in terms of feeding, bedtimes etc. We took bits of it and used them, and it worked really well, but if we'd followed it to the letter we'd never have left the house!
Skyline Drifter
My mrs is 13 weeks pregnant, had the scan, all is well. but i am a nervous wreck!i have been reading the books and magazines to try and prepare myself, got the family car now too. is it normal to be nervous about everything?? does it ease? Yes, probably. And no, it doesn't ease. Depending on circumstances it can be worse. Have you any reason to be nervous about everything? I bloody did but we're nearly there now. My Mrs is 37 weeks pregnant. Due 18th Feb. My other half is only 6-7 weeks on and i have been nervous also, she has been also, feels sick every day. is no good I seriously, SERIOUSLY, wouldn't be telling people until she was at least twice as far on. If you are lucky you won't live to regret it. She'll be due about the same time as me! I'm almost 14 weeks now. I bought my husband a book - The Blokes Guide to Pregnancy... I'd recommend it, it's quite funny, but also pretty informative. Just remember that however nervous and paranoid you're feeling, your mrs will be feeling it 10 times worse! Enjoy! I got it for Christmas courtesy of Mrs SD. I thought it was hilarious. Yet at the same time full of good advice. Some bits of it, especially about her increasingly irrational behaviour over the months, were SOOOOO true. And I have one piece of advice for expectant mums.Take the epidural ..........which, as you are aware, isn't necessarily available to them depending on where they live. Nobody in D&G can have an epidural because they quite simply don't have the service available.
grahamsgal
Oh and see all these people who say......oohh it's your first you'll go late......they lie. Of PB'ers along and IIRC correctly, Ayrgirl, HCG and I have all gone early with our firsts! I was another one that bucked the trend and was exactly two weeks early with my first as well. As you can see from the ticker below she is nearly 8 months now. Very scary how time flies so try and enjoy every minute of the pregnancy. I also got very sexually charged, right from early on in my pregnancy, so hubby (GTID) was in seventh heaven! So definitely enjoy that while it lasts coz if she's anything like me right after the baby's born she really won't feel like getting up to much in that department! Another piece of advice, I used www.babycentre.co.uk loads during my pregnancy, and in particular I joined a Birth Club where you can talk to other people who are due around the same time and you can share tips, advice and have good rants, etc. It's not just for the women, there are fathers on there too! I honestly can't recommend it enough. I'm really good friends with a lot of the women from my Birth Club and we try and arrange meets for those that live around the same areas. Brilliant when your Mrs might be feeling lonely! Congrats on the baby and glad to hear that everything's going well so far. For me that paranoia that things were going to go wrong definitely eased up after I had my 20 week scan and could actually feel baby moving around a lot more.

Also the epidural doesn't work for all women, well I know that I was in pain even after having the epidural, and I was in labour for more than 16 hours.
RH33
Another piece of advice, I used www.babycentre.co.uk loads during my pregnancy, I used that site as well, still do. 10 mins after I gave birth I said "that wasn't too bad I'll do it again"

Of PB'ers along and IIRC correctly, Ayrgirl, HCG and I have all gone early with our firsts! Both our kids were early. Cole 3 1/2 weeks and Isla 1 week. We totally winged it when Cole was born and used that experience to iron out some creases when Isla came along.

saints1884
And, more importantly, it can leave you with no feeling what so ever, waist down, for ever! Should point out that things like that only happen if the person getting the epidural moves when the Doctor is trying to put the needle into the bottom of the back. That's why they tell you to stay as still as possible.
