Motherwell v Ross County
Fir Park 3pm 13/12/14
Motherwell Form: LLLWLL
Ross County Form: LDLWLL
A Motherwell win would see them five points ahead of Ross County, but a County win would lift them off the bottom of the table for the first time since week 2.
Both clubs had players sent off at the weekend, with Simon Ramsden and Liam Boyce seeing red. Both players will be due to miss out subject to appeal.
Motherwell should have a new manager appointed before Saturday. If the last interviews are on Monday then someone could be in by Tuesday or Wednesday. That could be a good thing, in the sense that Motherwell's only win since they last beat County was immediately after Stuart McCall left. But a new manager with new methods might take a while to get his first win - see Jim McIntyre.
County should have attacking midfielders Michael Gardyne and Graham Carey returning to the squad. We will have to wait and see about whether or not Filip Kiss will be back. If Kiss is also back, that gives McIntyre a lot of options from middle to front, with Yoann Arquin and Darren Maatsen impressing late on against Dundee United. I wouldn't like to begin to predict the team for this one, but for the first six or so players.
Lee Erwin and Lionel Ainsworth made a case for them starting this game after their cameos against Celtic. Ainsworth is Motherwell's best player, in my opinion, he can get a goal out of nowhere and a team at the bottom of the league can't afford to not have someone like that. The problem might be that if he and Iain Vigurs are on the flanks then there might not be a lot of tracking back.
Erwin v John Sutton? Sutton has seven goals in six games against County since they were promoted.
Lastly, it's Christmas jumper day for the away support - don't forget to bring yours!
