  1. The summer break has flown by and amazingly there are only two weeks to go until the league season opens with a showpiece clash between Dundee United and Dunfermline Athletic. Both sets of fans will be hoping some of their concerns will be answered following a turbulent summer for both clubs. The home side's planned squad overhaul and the away side's unwanted exodus means both teams will look very different from the ones that met in May. Fraiser Aird and Nicky Clark were, by all accounts, Dunfermline's best two players but have ditched Fife for the City of Discovery while United squad fillers Mark Durnan and Willo Flood were snapped up by the Pars to much fanfare following their release by respected United gaffer Csaba Laszlo. Generations of Dunfermline fans have never seen their team beat Dundee United in the flesh and you would have to imagine they will pack out a section of the Fair Play stand as they dream to achieve what must feel like the impossible dream. This one could be decided by the finest of margins.
  2. Not long until the season begins. Personally be glad to be as far away from friendlies and the League Cup group stages. How are we feeling with regards to the season coming? I can't help but feel this will be a game that doesn't really tell either set of fans anything, given the changes that both teams have been through over the last year. Still, 3 points to play for, along with the right to rip the piss out the other team till the return game.
  3. Really looking forward to this one, both teams have had a good campaign in the league cup so come in high on confidence. Hopefully we have Danny Mullen back and can be firing on all cylinders ready for a win to open up the league campaign
  4. Time for a thread I reckon. Always look forward to games against Motherwell in general as they're usually quite open, so even more so as this is the first game. Couldn't of asked for a better first fixture IMO. We look to be without McAusland and possibly Thompson who are big blows to us. If we bring in Callum Ball I'd expect to see him start if Thommo doesnt make it. It's hard to see who we'll play at CB with McAusland out. Goodwin back there would provide experience but we all know he's alot better in midfield. Tesselaar can play there and probably will for this tbh. Plummer who will probably come into the lineup at some stage. Or even Mark Williams but I doubt that. If we don't sign another centre half in time I think It'll be Goodwin-Tesselaar. I think we'll take 1400+ through making for a decent atmosphere. Train for me I think. My line up would be: Kello Naismith Goodwin Tesselaar Kelly McGinn McLean Teale Marwood Wylde Thompson* or.. Kello Naismith Plummer Tesselaar Kelly McGinn Goodwin McLean Marwood Thompson* Wylde * Thompson if fit of course. Still a lot of if's and but's. Looking forward to it nonetheless!
