  2. If you have a spare few minutes to complete this survey, the data collected will go towards a research project investigating the association between football identity and spectator well-being. https://mmu.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1YZ7uQn91SYK2e9
  3. I am looking for some help. I am looking to find fans of any club in Scotland who have come from Europe, who have settled here and now have adopted a team and go and watch them regularly. For more information please get in touch. Many Thanks
  4. Hi All, I am new to the forum and was hoping to tap into the readers / posters to gather some market research data on the subject of catering facilities at football stadiums in Scotland. I want to hear about your experiences if possible - both good and bad. It would be good to hear about issues such as the following: Quality of food Time spent queuing at stadium kiosks Availability of menu offerings Pricing What could be done on the whole to improve match-day catering in Scotland? If you are happy to provide an answer and share your experiences, please can you include which team you support and which ground you had your good/bad experience at (if different to your home team). Many thanks in advance
  5. Selected pick of sides conquered by Scottish sides I took about 4 hours to do this. But I think the effort was worth it. Here is a list of some of the great club sides that Scottish clubs have defeated in competitive games. I have selected a pick of the sides, they have also defeated other teams I have not mentioned. I am including a win in any individual game, including after extra time. So they may have been knocked out over two legs by the same team. I do not include penalty shoot outs, or away goals rule victories, when both games were drawn. This is purely a list of individual game wins by Scottish sides. The order shows the name of a European team with a list of Scottish teams who have beaten them in Europe. Plus almost all non European teams such as Corinthians, and Santos. No Scottish team has played Truro City, of Cornwall. The teams beaten by the most Scottish teams seem to have been Standard Liege, Anderlecht, and Sporting Lisbon. Scottish clubs have also beaten nations in friendlies including Striling Albion against Japan, Aberdeen against South Africa, and Hearts against Australia.
  6. Next Sunday sees the high flying Hibs visit McDiarmid Park. Hibs have averaged 12.6 goals a game so far and seem to be playing with a lot of confidence. Saints had a poor start at Kilmarnock, not just the result, but the performance wasn't good. hibernian have not beaten St Johnstone in a league game for 5 years. Hopefully Molde kick Hibs all over the place on Thursday resulting in plenty of injuries, and McGinn gets sold. We really need at least a point here. Previously, I'd have fancied usto be able to battle out a point, but this season I'm not sure our midfield look like they're well equipped to play defensively. Maybe we should just go for a baws oot toe to toe first to seven wins type game, as the Hibs defence is poor and the one area you feel they are vulnerable. I think we'll revert to a back four with Foster at RB and similar midfield to yesterday, with Scougall in behind Watt in attack. Hopefully Hibs bring a good crowd through, as in recent seasons Edinburgh away supports have been relatively poor; but now both sides of this rugby loving city are going well, would expect a few more of these glory hunting old firm wannabes to attend.
  7. Great little tournament this being played in and around London. http://www.conifa.org/en/wfc-2018/ Loads of obscure places I've never heard of. I'll be popping along to some games. Who we backing here? I'm backing Tuvalu. http://www.conifa.org/en/members/tuvalu/
  8. Stirling Amateurs are currently looking for players to strengthen squad for next season. Pm for details

  11. With Sky TV, BT Sport subscriptions becoming increasingly expensive, looking at the option of watching Czech Football - free app, £3 for whole weekend of football. Cheap, good quality, provides an enjoyable alternative/option while sitting on the sofa watching Final Score. https://thefootballblether.com/2017/12/04/bohemian-armchair-football/ https://thefootballblether.com/2018/01/09/czech-first-league-mid-season-review/
  12. Dilemma facing fans as prices escalate on tickets, trains - increasingly seen as a "consumer" by SFA, so are we best to look elsewhere for our football fix, is our £££ spent better in Europe? https://thefootballblether.com/2018/01/22/the-supporters-dilemma/

  17. Hi folks, Apologies for interrupting this forum but we think this is of interest to all Scottish football fans. We're hoping to launch a Blizzard-like quarterly. A long-form, publication about Scottish football. We're doing it without an agenda. Simply to give a platform to a different type of football writing, in a different format. It would be around 200 pages and a cross between a book and a magazine. And we're doing it because of our love of the game. And you can help support what we're planning by pledging at Kickstarter to take out from 1 - 4 subscriptions or become a Nutmeg Patron: If we don't reach our target, then you pay nothing. Please help spread the word on Twitter and FB if you can. We have till noon on April 3 to reach the target that will allow us it commission, print and distribute the launch issue. 19. We've been let down at the last minute and require opposition to play in a friendly this Sat 17 June, 2pm KO @ Haddington 4G, East Lothian EH41 4AQ. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks Innes Assistant coach at East Linton AFC
  20. We are looking for football players (especially a left back) for our Saturday morning amateur team, Cartsbridge Evangelical FC, based on the southside of Glasgow. We play in the Premier Division of the Strathclyde Churches League which is a decent standard. We've got a good squad with a good team spirit and we're looking to add a few quality players to help our challenge for trophies. The advantage of playing Saturday morning as well is that you have the rest of your day free. Training is on a Tuesday evening at Toryglen. We're looking for players with a good attitude and who can commit to being at training and games each week. Players must be of a good level and must have experience of 11-a-side football as the standard of the league is good with ex senior and ex semi-pro players playing in it. We are particularly looking for defenders, especially a left back, but we're happy to look at players in any outfield position. Please get in touch if interested.
  21. EDIT February 17; I've been busy building a site called Club 25 for my collection, on which I'm posting regular in-depth analysis and review pieces. Target is to get all my tops on there, but just trying to get some starting content on there right now. Consider giving it a read (only Scottish strip among the ten on there so far is Livi's 04/05 deckchair) and a Like on Facebook; https://club25football.wordpress.com/ Facebook page Considering most everyone here has a devout love of (Scottish) football, I figured it be interesting to see how many and what kind of shirts each of us has. Have a big catalogue of your favourite club's kitties? Managed to get a shirt from every single league club? Have a matchworn top from the 60's? Show it off here! Personally I used to have a small collection, but it grew and grew and grew into its gargantuan current size (120+ unique tops). Sadly only three Scottish ones among them; Raith Rovers ('95 - '97) and Livingston ('04-'05, I will never not be amused by the sponsor being 'Intelligent Finance' when they went into administration) and Aberdeen's '94-'96 kit (so bad it's good). Quick snaps of sizeable parts of the collection (I have them across two rooms), including matchworn and signed jerseys; Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you have hanging in your wardrobes. This isn't the place to buy or sell kits, for that you're gonna wanna visit the Bargain Basement section (but you can always try a bit of wink wink nudge nudge).
  22. We've hit another poor patch so probably not a good game to come along. Although by all accounts we did not bad in the second half on Saturday. Partick managed to pick up a point at Tynecastle, so a win might not be entirely out of the question. But a draw wouldn't be an altogether bad result either.
  23. Which is better for fish and chips? Grounds near Ibrox or Celtic Park? I'm trying to find the best chippies in Scotland but no one seems to rate Old Firm fish and chip shops! Are they all rubbish???
  24. Right, big topic close to my heart here - fish and chips after a game! Where's the best chippy you've been to after (or before) a game near a football ground? Trying to find out where the best fish and chips at football parks are in Scotland.
