History repeats itself in funny ways, and, in a curiously distorted echo of the 1950s, Jack Ross's dominant league-topping (as at time of writing) Hibernian are voyaging across the Tay to demonstrate to the people of sun-soaked Dundee how football is played in the fair city of Edinburgh. The famous five of Boyle, Doidge, Allen, Gogic and Nisbet are sure to wow the hosts with their brand of swashbuckling, free-flowing, free-scoring 'fitba' (as it's called in the local tongue) and pass on a trick or two to the eager, football-hungry natives. I hear they have a promising, up-and-coming young striker by the name of Lawrison di Shanklimento who will no doubt pick up a few pointers from the display and possibly even be inspired to become a big star in years to come. Expect Hibs goals aplenty from every direction, but for nobody to mind the result. It's the spectacle that matters.

East vs West(ish). Green vs Amber. Leafy veg vs metal homosapien. Hibs come into this on the back of a tough European Away tie in Greece. Motherwell come into this on back of some sort of League Cup group stage thing that they don’t invite the big clubs to. Who will win? I’ll put my mortgage on there being more than 9 goals.

Tough draw for us but could be a cracking game if we are on form going into it. Hope we can win but expect Aberdeen will win.

Newport County announce Terry Butcher as their new manager. To think, about 18 months ago he'd turned down a job in the Championship with Barnsley, was flying high with ICT and was linked with jobs at the likes of Middlesbrough. God knows how well he'll do at Rodney Parade, but going by his previous record down south, I won't be surprised to see a dismal failure...

Hibernian FC - Supporter consultation
ScottishFans posted a topic in Scottish Football - Fans' Views
Supporters Direct Scotland (SDS) has confirmed it is to begin consultation with Hibernian supporters. This follows contact from various groups, including Forever Hibernian and many individual fans regarding the possibility of community ownership for their club. The initial consultation will be through an online survey that will ascertain the views of the Hibernian supporters on the long term aspirations they have for their club and to ascertain if there is an appetite to explore community ownership models. Paul Goodwin Head of Supporters Direct Scotland, said: “We are being contacted by many trusts and supporters from across Scotland now who are keen to look at increasing fan and community ownership for their clubs. They have the confidence to look at the longer term future of their clubs and can see the benefits of community ownership to provide that platform as well as assisting the succession planning at their clubs. “The Hibernian supporter survey will seek to get the opinions of as many fans as possible before we conduct a series of meetings and workshops with them in the coming weeks. With so much speculation surrounding other bids for the club from outside parties in the recent weeks this gives Hibs fans opportunity to express their own views on the future governance of their club.” You can complete the survey here
