The second part of this paragraph answers perfectly why the first part of your paragraph would never work.  You'd have some absolutely horrific leg breakers and as soon as the player says "I didn't mean it" they'd get off Scot-free. Totally unworkable.

Don't agree. It would be up to the ref to decide whether a player meant to injure an opponent not the player.

  2. Given the circumstances I thought we did pretty well yesterday and I'm certain we would have won had Donaldson stayed on. Nesbitt was far and away the best man on the park and fully deserved his MOTM award IMO. If I have any criticism at all it's that, defensively, we played very narrowly following the dismissal and Kelty made very good use of the width of the pitch. Also, I felt that the best chance of us grabbing a winner was keeping the MacIver and Morrison combo on as Ross was winning a fair few headers with Morrison benefitting and looking dangerous. Having said that, Alfie did just as well when he came on, but I would definitely have kept MacIver on to partner him.

I said a few months ago that we could be in trouble if we lost Donaldson and Lang, thankfully that's only going to be for 2 and 3/4 games, but it will be a big ask to have only one player in the defence playing in their true position over the final two games. We really need the forward players to turn up over these games so that any defensive mishaps may not prove too costly.

To an extent I'm also with Shodwall re his take on players' punishment. I've long thought that players being booked or sent off for totally accidental incidents is unfair. The issue there though would be that refs would have to make the call as to whether an incident was meant or not and no doubt we would have players trying to make a deliberate act look innocent.

I agree with both of your points wholeheartedly; it's clear for most what he adds to the team and why he's in it. I'm not looking to dispute that whatsover. Where my concern lies is that we've created a barrowload of chances this season, and with that he's missed a considerable number of sitters too. Even the most optimistic of us on here would likely admit that even if we do well next year, we won't create as many as we do in League One, so being more clinical will become extra important.

Probably important to highlight he's on 14 goals in the league which is a decent haul btw. But with that I've said in mind, you play a game in the Championship against one of the better sides and you might get one or two clear cut chances in a game; I'm not sure you put your money on him to finish them yet. You could argue what he brings to the team is more important than his goal tally, and that's an argument I'd have some sympathy with. But I don't think highlighting finishing is totally unfair, either.

Edit to add: his game is obviously still improving all the time, so not outwith the question for him to become more clinical (I hope he does!). Just calling it as I've seen it this season.

I think it likely that a centre forward that was instrumental in Morrison, Nesbitt and Miller scoring 40 odd? goals, whilst also knocking in 20-30 himself wouldn't be playing for Falkirk.

I’m not saying we wouldn’t have won the league without him, but it would be a lot more tighter without him. As a coach myself, I can see why McGlynn loves him as he brings so much to the team. Your average football fan won’t notice that work and impact he has without the ball, they’ll just look at the goal tally which is fine I’m not slating them but I bet if you ask Nesbitt, Miller, Ross and Morrison they’d all admit they wouldn’t have the amount of goals they do without MacIver.

    Exactly this.

MacIver is pivotal to the way McGlynn wants to play, which is why he signed him. Just because he doesn't score loads of goals doesn't mean he isn't good at his job.

A few weeks back, sure it was as mentioned, think also interview with FH (STBC)

Ah, just the way you worded your sentence saying that he said 'he was after a few players that are quality' that made me think he had players in mind rather than saying he had space left for more signings.

MCGlynns signings have been fantastic and that’s why we’re champions and still unbeaten. If it’s true about McKenna and he’s a target so be it. I just think at 33 he may be a risk, but it’s all about opinions.
For me looking at the amount of players that are going to be either released or out of contract, I’m sure McGlynn will find some gems - as in his words he’s after a few players that are quality. After his signings so far (apart from a couple) I’ve no concerns he will be successful.

I've missed that. When did he say that and was there any indication of possible names?

I don't see all the players mentioned staying tbh. I'd love to see Yeats, Ross and Tait stay but I think one possibly two out the three won't. Yeats I think is waiting to see if he gets a better offer, Ross might not want to play second fiddle and on a decent wage at Raith. Tait will be on decent money at Hibs and has a year left. Are Shanley and Mackie good enough for the championship? Not so sure but they'd probably be the easiest to retain, then you've got the conundrum of what to do with Jordan Allan. Still think we need an experienced keeper. As much as I'm happy to see Spencer sign an extension he still had a year left and the years wage he just signed could have went to someone else, but McGlynn will probably know what kind of budget he's playing with for next season.

So you want us to bin Spencer the season after next? Cause that's when he'll be paid for the extension, it won't come out of next season's budget.

As much as this is a joke Fulton would genuinely be a good signing for Falkirk given in goals is clearly the weakest area of the Grangemouth Galaticos.

He’s out of contract at the end of the season so I suspect he’ll be gone if we don’t get through the play offs. Only negative is he is made of glass.

Is Fulton still injured? He's been on the bench for weeks now.

  9. Canny make up my mind what team I'd like to see here.

I think Donaldson looked a wee bit tired last Saturday and deserves a wee rest, but we don't really have a replacement, unless Hendo's comfortable using his right foot (which he's not). Tait's the man in form and will be busting a gut to show Accies what they're missing, however I can see some of their players trying to wind him up, which could be problematic. Miller hasn't been just quite as effective recently, so maybe a chance for Ross?

    Feck it - unchanged team!

    Right Back
With Keelan Adams on a 2 year deal the management team will expect him to be challenging for that position.
If we get Finn Yeats to sign a contract we will have for the first time for a while competition for the Right Back spot plus Yeats versatility for a midfield roll. Should we consider that position covered?
With few players incoming it would be good to have a long standing position issue off the list.
    Thoughts?

Aye, the constant 17:30 KO times are less than ideal, but Alba just needed to get their Box Office Bairns fix! What's the Gaelic for "Get it right up yeez Accies"?

You're no wrong! Not to mention all the merch I've also bought over that period. The club should have just automatically taken the money out my bank account when they announced the 1991 away shirt. Would have saved me the hassle 🤣

Fair points. It was never in any doubt that I was going, however. I'm skint but I just love following this team so much. These players have a real connection with the supporters and it's just awesome to see it.

Faigh e deas suas thu accies!

  12. They've already hit 65 points which is only two below our total last season and match the current totals of Dundee Utd and Stenny (who've already won L2), with 4 games still to play!

Hamilton fans may not like Rankin's style of play, but I feel that they've got a similar sense of entitlement that some of our fans had when we first came down! It's not as easy as they seem to think it should be.

Could do a lot worse than give the home fans a voucher for £? off at the first home game of the season.

A thank you and an inducement for those that are just coming for the occasion to go again. Bound to be a % pick up that will become afflicted to 'Expect the Unexpected'

Unsure if that would be allowed? I'm sure there's a rule that states that clubs must charge both sets of fans the same amount.

I think it quite possibly was offside. The keeper is out far enough so that when miller heads the ball forward to MacIvor he's more than likely off. Who gives a feck though.

MacIver was offside unless Miller headed the ball backwards toward him?
