  1. The New Raith Rovers Thread

I was speaking to Craig Easton on Thursday at the U-20 awards night and he seemed keen but very cautious about the position. I'd like him to get it with Scott Robertson taking over the young team.
  2. A great feeling at Cappielow..

Just noticed the quoted 2012 posts. Relegation is incredibly shite but thankyou to virginton for showing us all that things can be a lot worse.
  3. A great feeling at Cappielow..

Dredging up posts from 2014! You seriously need a bird.
  4. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Only one of many strange decisions in this total clusterfuck of a season.
  5. The New Raith Rovers Thread

To be fair to the players, every one of them acknowledged that we've had a bad season, "Shite" as the captain put it, but every one of them spoke with a steely determination about putting things right for the supporters, themselves and most importantly of all, the folk employed in the background whose jobs may be threatened if we go down. It's been grim this season but I'm right behind them and can't wait for Brechin on Wednesday.
  6. Brechin City Season 2016 / 2017

Looking forward to these games. We are unbelievably gash away from home so I'd settle for a draw on Wednesday with us progressing at Starks where we have a pretty decent record.

Cuthbert did the presentation for player's player of the year and in his announcement said something along the lines of, "Maybe just as well the gaffer isn't here because he wouldn't like this... Bobby Barr!" I can't help but get the impression that Hughes has kept players out who he perceives to have a bad attitude even though it may be to the detriment of putting out our strongest side. I don't think the players will be too sad to see him gone. My own take, which might well be miles from the truth of course.
  8. Rovers v Ayr - worst sides in the league

It's always good fun relegating Ayr. If we do go down it'll be good fun beating them to the title as well. Silver linings.
  9. Rovers v Ayr - worst sides in the league

    Raith Rovers 16/17 - A tale of 4 'keepers.
  10. The Champions vs The Buddies

Thinking about betting on St Mirren and Ayr winning today to guarantee our survival.
  11. Out of the mouth of babes...

Just managed to get the wife to put subtitles on so I could see what BB8 was saying.
  12. Rovers v Ayr - worst sides in the league

Deal! Seriously though, a couple of early Ayr goals is the nightmare scenario. On the other hand, a couple of early Rovers goals filtering through to Easter Road wouldn't be bad.
  13. The New Raith Rovers Thread

The difference between Jason Thomson being labelled a 'keep' instead of a 'let go' was his driving runs from his RB position. Opposition on the back foot and pressure taken off the team. If he has been told to hold back and is simply following instructions then fair enough, hold on to him. If his ability to make these runs has dissipated then I'm afraid I'd be hoping for another first choice RB to start the new season.
  14. The New Raith Rovers Thread

We may well have seen a couple against Ayr if we managed an unlikely win yesterday. No chance of that now after the senior players were unceremoniously pumped.
  15. Rovers v Ayr - worst sides in the league

The Rovers will do that to you. McGlynn had an afro before he came here and M'Voto is only 15 years old.
  16. The Relegation Battle

I think St Mirren will draw at worst next week and if we claw back a 9 goal deficit on Dumbarton I'll curl oot a Mr Whippy on the centre circle, season it and savour every last morsel with a fork and knife. I can't wait for this shitfest of a season to finish but it looks as though our agony will be prolonged with the playoffs. RRFC: Promotion playoffs to relegation candidates in the course of a season.
  17. Famous people who have fallen out with you

Gordon Dalziel was raging with me when I published an edited interview (potential defamation case) with him before he could see the changes. I explained to him on the phone that I was naive to such protocols what with not being an actual journalist and he was fine about it. I've to buy him a pint next time I see him. On the other side of the coin, Idlewild annoyed me when they had tea and biscuits backstage instead of enough free drugs to kill Charlie Sheen.
  18. The New Raith Rovers Thread

I understand why folk are pissed off at the goals we concede from free kicks but the 'keeper is always going to gamble on his wall having an impact or the taker not being very accurate. Personally, I think we've been unlucky. The likes of Cuthbert and McGurn wouldn't blindly follow the goalkeeping coach if they didn't think something was quite right.
  19. Hibs v Raith

I can confirm that it was indeed an absolute shiter, James. The end of season awards night is going to be a blast.
  20. Reasons to be Cheerful

To be fair, if Marge and Homer weren't in there having sex my ball would have gone right through.
  21. Reasons to be Cheerful

Beat my personal best golf score today and had two birdies into the bargain. First round I've ever had without a 7 or higher!
  22. Hibs v Raith

Rovers to win both halves at 66/1...
  23. Hibs v Raith

It'd be quite fitting with this strange season if we won this and could say that we got the better of the champions over the four games. Do we want to see hungry Hibs fringe players coming in or do we want potential holiday mode first teamers playing?
  24. The New Raith Rovers Thread

The past couple of seasons have shown that (outwith the OF) our home support doesn't need to be buying tickets. Folk simply can't be arsed with that carry on. They want to walk up, pay in and watch a game, not f**k about buying tickets in the days leading up to the game or queue up at the office window on match day.
  25. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Just under £13 on the super early bird and just under £14 on the early bird for league games seems reasonable whatever league we end up in. Take into account the cup games and friendlies and it turns into a very reasonable offer.
