I didn't mind Spence when he was with us but felt that he'd have been better if he was stronger. Has Spencey been skelping the gym and turning those cheeky Nando's into muscle?
  2. The New Raith Rovers Thread

The only reason I'm glad Penksa is away. Was beginning to develop a nervous twitch when folk were calling him 'Penska' all the time.
  3. The New Raith Rovers Thread

See this 'option for another year' malarkey, how does this work? Surely if the club want to jettison a player with this stipulation, they can?
  4. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Read the link above your post. Brilliant work Shaughan!
  5. Grief Culture

I wish we'd see the end of the 'Spirit of Manchester/Glasgow/Methil' shite that flies about because people rally around and help when something rubbish happens. Human nature to help folk out is it not?
  6. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Criteria for next Rovers manager: Doesn't move out promising young players to make way for his past-it neeburs. Doesn't obliterate team confidence by telling them that they're shite. Fields our best team even though he might not like some of our best players. Savvy enough to know that we are actually able to gain an emergency loan if we have terrible luck with 'keepers again. Skilled enough to read a game, see where we're being punished and actually do something about it. Don't make a rip-roaring c**t of a club that a lot of people have a lot of pride in. Sure there's more...
  7. The joke thread: a thread for camaraderie and hilarity

Terry the turnip and Colin the carrot were out mountain biking when Colin lost control and crashed over a 100ft cliff. The air ambulance took them to the hospital and poor Terry had a long, anxious wait before the surgeon finally came out and said, "Terry, I have good news and bad news." "The good news is that Colin is still alive." "What's the bad news?" Terry asked. "He'll spend the rest of his life as a vegetable."

Didn't you check someone for being a bit personal earlier?
  9. The New Raith Rovers Thread

M'Voto's reluctance to try and find a teammate with headers instead of just heading the ball as far up the pitch as he could bugged me on a weekly basis. Decent defender on his day but he'll be remembered at Starks for his catastrophic performance against Brechin.

Cancel the PotY dance and lose money or continue with it and make money. Tough choice.
  11. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Suppose it'd depend on the package we could offer him and the budget he'd have at his disposal. Is it not Aitken who has a really good job with Rolls Royce? If so, would that not dictate that he'd be part-time? I wouldn't mind Easton at all but the same can be said for Young and Aitken. If none of them are in line, can I again put forward the suggestion of some genius/eccentric foreigner looking to make his name in British football?

I've no doubt that most of the terrible decisions were made in good faith but good intentions don't hide ridiculous, often laughable incompetence. Like most of us I expect, I've been brought up to hold my hands up and apologise for any mistakes that I've made that may have an adverse effect on others. Doing so usually gains respect from people as they admire honesty and don't feel like you're trying to pull the wool over their eyes. A trait that the board may want to consider putting into practice soon before we lose some more pissed off supporters who hung around after the ill-advised statements and actions of this complete clusterfuck of a season.
  13. Brechin City v Raith Rovers - There And Back Again

Great technique from McManus to save our arses in the 90 minutes. I remember thinking at the time about how gutting it must have been for the Brechin supporters. Worked out no' bad for them in the end.

Regarding Davo applying to be a firefighter: That may just be him looking to safeguard a future after football and not an indication that the club is moving to part time.
  15. The New Raith Rovers Thread

To be fair, if Davo farted so loud that I'd be able to determine what direction it went from the south stand I'd give him a rapturous round of applause.
  16. The New Raith Rovers Thread

McGlynn has dragged us out of the doldrums before and I'd be confident of him doing it again. The football was usually terrible to watch but terrible would be a marked improvement on this season's unbelievably brutal shite that made me consider drinking domestos.
  17. Brechin City v Raith Rovers - There And Back Again

Exactly! Glebe Park is one of my favourite grounds.
  18. Brechin City v Raith Rovers - There And Back Again

I know. That's why I'm hoping they stay down and Alloa go up.
  19. Brechin City v Raith Rovers - There And Back Again

Congrats to Brechin btw. To be so close in 90 mins only to be denied and then going on to equalise after going behind took massive character. Hope they stay down though. Can't stand Recreation Park.
  20. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Nae worries. Emotions running high this evening. I've checked myself a few times before biting to obvious fishing trips and making an erse of myself. Again. Cuthbert gave me the impression that he didn't have any time for Hughes' management style. Good on him. Hughes has had plenty of time to coach the 'pish' out of them and failed miserably. Total disaster.

So your desire for me to "Have a word with myself!" for touting Robertson has absolutely nothing to do with the work that he has done with the 20s this season or the experience that he can pass on to young players coming through?
  22. The New Raith Rovers Thread

Thats what I wrote, yes. What are your reasons against Robertson taking over the U-20s?
  23. The New Raith Rovers Thread

I was speaking to Craig Easton on Thursday at the U-20 awards night and he seemed keen but very cautious about the position. I'd like him to get it with Scott Robertson taking over the young team.
  24. A great feeling at Cappielow..

Just noticed the quoted 2012 posts. Relegation is incredibly shite but thankyou to virginton for showing us all that things can be a lot worse.
