  1. Cameron didn't express a view. He liked a tweet. Many people use the like facility as a bookmark.
  2. It should be removed from Statute. It is used (or misused) to convict were normal standards of proof for the actual offence cannot be met and also to criminalise people who have done nothing other than annoy a police officer.
  3. Who knows why the differentiation. Other than the politicians will use their control over the franchise to get what they perceive to be the correct electorate. The cynic in me suggests that politicians may seek advantage for their desired outcome. Some politicians may also believe that people who aren't old enough to operate without state guardians are old enough to vote.
  4. Because he has a charge over assets. They will be sold to meet the obligations to Ashley.
  5. So an admission that the club is a company. Incorporated as Sevco Scotland Limited on 29/05/12, changed name to current name on 31/7/12. So much for 140 year, going strong, same club, etc.
  6. Why does the club need money? The club is not a legal entity, has no personality, etc. How would it receive this money? Where woudl it keep it? How would it spend it? Something that doesn't exist in a tangible form cannot hold and utilise assets.
  7. UKIP attract a higher percentage of clowns compared to the mainstream parties and that makes it easy to dismiss them as nutters. That's my kneejerk reaction to them. What cannot be denied is that they have successfully tapped into discontent about Europe in parts of all parties, the prejudices of the working class (that the left of centre parties pretend doesn't exist among their support) and those in the conservative party who aren't happy with the centre right agenda. That makes them dangerous electorally. Probably not in terms of winning seats but in terms of distorting first passed the post elections.
  8. Except that's not what they're doing. As anyone paying attention well knows.
  9. No it wasn't their finest hour but it wasn't just various budgets he could have mentioned. There were other Holyrood deals and local government coalitions. He could have picked any number of examples.
  10. It's not meant to be a killer blow. If someone accuses you of doing something they have done or are doing themselves then throw it back at them. It won't have anyone changing sides but it may make enough undecided people recognise the hypocrisy of it to make a difference to their campaign. People like to trust their politicians (laughable I know) and a response in kind from Darling would have eroded trust in Salmond at the point he was trying to build it among the undecided. It's so easy. BT have also handled the the SNP NHS scaremongering really poorly. That's another open goal missed. I saw something the other day during a fleeting visit about Scottish NHS privitisation which makes the SNP look like clear hypocrits. A couple of posts later a No supporter in true BT style gave the Yes side an open goal for deflection. They seized on it. That's guys on a football forum taking a chance, why can't Darling. Wish I could remember which thread it was on now, it was a perfect example of the type of thing BT have been guilty of.
  11. Maybe that answers the question why the BT campaign has been quite poor. If the leader of it cannot recognise, seize and score with that simple opportunity then how much can you expect from the rest of his team.
  12. The focus on the Tories is horrendous. It's as if they are some form of terrible extremists rather than a right of centre mainstream party. It's designed to appeal to the base instincts of the more simple voters. What amazes me is that BT, who continue to bumble along ineffectively, don't shut Salmond up when he tells Milliband to get back into bed with the Tories. Is this the leader of the same SNP who only got some of their legislative programme through after the 2007 Holyrood election by cosying up to the Tories. Scottish politicians can be really poor. The media are no better. If I were a journalist I'd love the opportunity to focus on some of the nonsense being spoken by both sides. Most Scottish journalists are either partisan or too frightened to upset one side or the other.
  13. What is a kitchen party? Do you all wear pinnies?
  14. There's 60m in the UK. We weren't worrying about fairness in sharing resources and sharing burdens before oil was discovered. Who determines what the number has to be before you move from selfish to altruistic?
  15. You mean people who say "it's our oil" are being selfish too? Well I never.
  16. Didn't you know everything is the fault of the Tories? Their millionaires are much less worthy then SNP millionaires. I thought everyone knew that.
  17. You appear to be struggling. It was mentioned in the course of a discussion. I don't feel the need to point the finger of blame at people when I discuss something.
  18. I don't believe I was blaming anyone.
  19. I hope you never find yourself in a role where you have to indulge in critical appraisals. I don't think I've ever encountered anyone so poor at it.
  20. It's not disgraceful. Disgraceful is a word that could be applied to the two-faced attitudes of those complaining about Scotland not having rhe government they voted for in Westminster whilst ignoring the same applies for most Scots with Holyrood. At least Westminster has a committee system that has the gumption to hold the executive to account and a second chamber to scrutinise legislation.
  21. Lol? Are you 12?I fully understand what democratic deficit means. Holyrood are a perfect example - no second chamber, misuse of the committee system. 44% riding roughshod over the other 56%.
  22. Yes. The wishes of 44% are imposed on the other 56%. But unless you are advocating absolute PR that will not change.
  23. Denying themselves democracy? Utter scaremongering nonsense. The UK will continue to be one of the world's great democracies after a no vote. If you seriously believe otherwise you need to seek either education or medical help.
