  1. Garmin here, but I've got it linked to Strava.
  2. Made it home before the rain started. #winner 3.5 miles in the bag.
  3. Nice hilly 4 miles along the cliffs this evening. Feeling strong. I have worked out that my trainers are the source of my knee pain (have worn my old trainers on my last couple of runs and my knees have been absolutely fine). Gutted - £120 down the pan. Bah.
  4. parkrun for me this morning - first time I've actually run it as I've always been a volunteer! Considering I've lost a load of fitness, a 26:20 time was very pleasing indeed. 14th female home and 2nd in my age group. Chuffed Not a PB by a long way, but it's a start!
  5. No need to apologise - we runners are a supportive bunch and we all started off from nothing
  6. In the beginning, I just aimed for 5k in 30 mins. Over the years, I've been pushing that time down, chipping away at it, completing my first 24:xx 5k in the summer. Have lost a bit of fitness now and have been eating too much shite, so nowhere near that at the moment! I would say it depends what you want? Would you prefer a longer distance or a faster time over a short distance? I had a very pleasant hour on the trails this afternoon - muddy, hilly, slow...
  7. Well done shifting all that weight Allan Jacobsen! Inspirational stuff! Totally recommend parkrun - it's like a wee (not so wee, really!) family. Some mega-fast runners, some plodders, but everyone is really supportive of each other. I love it - look forward to 9:30am on a Saturday every week, even if I'm nearly always volunteering. Actually getting to run this week though - yay!
  8. Glad you enjoyed it! I handed you your finishing token.
  9. 5 miles tempo with club tonight. Knee pain - not during the run, but after. Not pleasant.
  10. I love throwing myself around the woods in Fochabers or up at Glenlivet if I have a bit more time. Not brave enough to clip in though - think I'll keep my flat pedals on for that nonsense!
  11. Maybe my rides aren't long enough...!! 65 miles is as far as I've gone in one ride.
  12. That's the ones I was talking about. I really like them and to be honest, probably wont bother getting 'proper' road bike pedals unless I eventually get round to upgrading the bike.
  13. Not braved them on my actual MTB though - think that's a step too far even for me.
  14. I was scared of clipless pedals and a friend recommended getting some SPDs for MTB instead. I've got them set to the loosest setting and it's very easy to get my feet in and out. Wouldn't go back now, makes climbing much easier.
  15. 2 laps around the Cooper Park including a wee out and back past Borough Briggs. Not a bad course - flat/fast. Tempo run with some hills with a pal tonight - just short of 4 miles.
  16. 216 runners for the first Elgin parkrun. We were hoping for 100...!! Chuffed!
  17. I'm one of the volunteers who helped set it up. Can't wait for Saturday! Our first run!
  18. Fabbo 4-and-a-bit mile tempo session at club tonight. Haven't been out for a few weeks (combo of very tight and sore IT band and laziness tbh) so was good to get out and actually felt very fit for once. Excellent.
  19. Went orienteering for the first time this morning with the small boy. It was great fun! I love running in the woods, and he loved the map reading. Recommended.
  20. Excellent run at my new club tonight. Felt very strong and fit. Knees are a bit sore now, though... I think I need to get the foam roller out and sort out my IT bands.
  21. Was 'funnel manager' at parkrun this morning. A job title that never fails to amuse me.
  22. I've done GNR and I'm glad I've done it, but it's not a great race, to be honest. It's boring dual carriageway a lot of the time - ok, the crowd support is very good, but I'd rather have Aberdeenshire countryside any day. The crowds are ridiculous - far too many people allowed to start. The goody bag is shit, the medal is pretty average, t-shirt was a cotton job instead of a technical one you can actually use for running... £53? No ta.
