A few observations on Paton. When the opposition moves up the park he follows very slowly and spends a fair bit of time during a game offside. This means that when we win the ball back we can't switch immediately to attack but have to wait for him to get back onside.
When crosses come in he is often hiding behind a defender.
Finally when he does drop back and we move forward he is behind the midfield and not at least level with them.
On the plus side he is an instinctive striker.
