This Saints fan isn’t raging. I’m glad he has found what he didn’t at us. For that we blame Davidson and McLean. Never seen a player that the fanbase willed to do well. He simply didn’t fit with us and everything you have seen, we saw none of it.

I think that's the attitude of most Saints fans tbf.

Sometimes a player just doesn't suit a club/manager and vice versa.

People confuse majoritarianism with democracy. Democracy includes the idea of giving people as much freedom to make their own choices as you can.

It's not just the majority getting their own way over minorities no matter what.

All very well until it comes to a vote about something🤔

The sjfa can't take control of the wosl even if 70 of the 80 clubs vote to go back under their control they would need to start up a new league with a new name and start from scratch just like the wosfl had to do and any assets or monies that were left from the West region juniors belonged to the sjfa? So if 70 clubs vote to leave the wosfl they leave with nothing and the 10 remaining clubs then continue as.  The new sjfa West league would no longer be part of the pyramid.

And here was me just querying what the definition of democracy was but thanks anyway.

A vote to force a minority to do something they don't want to do and don't need to do isn't necessarily democratic.

So what's your idea of democracy.

Letting a minority dictate to the majority.

I always thought it was the other way around, silly me.

Aye, I finally signed up here following the AGM after I'd posted my notes from it on SO following a very long hiatus on there, as I felt it'd help with discussion. I attempted to engage in some debate there following that and also this morning based on the GM article and, frankly, I'm done. Just going round in circles and convenient ignoring of salient points people are making.

Several people on there are "absolutely for investment no matter the cost" and that absolutely fucking baffles me, tbh. Like, there's so much nuance around what's going on, it's definitely not a black and white decision to me (just now, anyway) and yet the tribalism/money at any cost seems to be the idea for some, as well as it being an absolute no-no (or non-non-non @CoF) for some before any details have been released.

I understand the excitement/want for it and the skepticism that people have, but I can't shut down at least considering a potential investment "just because"; if it goes over the red line of 51/49 in favour of fan ownership at any point, that's when it can get in the sea for me. Otherwise? Let's have a look and see.

You're giving Steelboy a run for his money👍

I'm not enamoured with the SOS, have plenty of issues with them.

There is a feeling that the WOS is not committed to the pyramid and it almost appears to be the league no club wants to win. The WOS should be banging at the SFA door pointing out that how can we be actively involved in the pyramid if we can't license new clubs. Is that happening?

Or is the WOS happy to use that as their get out of jail card?

If you're talking about the WOSL as an Association then I think you're wrong that they aren't committed to a pyramid. Why would they have even bothered setting it up if they weren't.

What we do have is a split amongst the clubs, some are extremely pro pyramid some are lukewarm towards it and some are completely apathetic.

That includes club officials and fans

Old school sjfa back to their old tricks trying to boost their dwindling bank balance . An example of this was we went to a semi final at love street over 8 thousand fans club gets 5k sjfa pockets the rest. As for the sjfa and there big bank balance remember where all this money came from it was generated from every junior club that ever existed and a few of them no longer exist and what help did the glorious sjfa do for them to stay afloat zero but they took their membership fee each year from them, fined them for bookings ,paid them for reinstatement for players who weren't juniors and let's not forget all the club's who had to give them their cut from their gates where some small club's who only had £150 at best through the gate and if it's a team from the North you were having to give the over £300 from your £150 gate ! Fans from the bigger clubs clearly have no clue what's going on at the other end of the money train in order for them to get their big prize money at the end of the tournament remember where it came from!

Dont see any arm twisting from the SJFA going on to force clubs into entering the competition against their will.

They go into it with their eyes wide-open in the knowledge that they're more than likely to have a long expensive journey somewhere along the way.

The original premise of the new league was to join the senior set up and promote the pyramid. The EoSL league have done that with great success with Tranent,Linlithgow,Bo’ness etc all moving up.

The west is moving back the way with far too many unlicensed clubs in the top league, hanging on to the truncated Junior Cup and now going to elect a guy who is actively saying he wants to move it backwards!

Thats got nothing to do with Clydebank, anyone who can’t see the direction of travel is truly blind.

Oh I'm not blind but then again neither are the clubs, so to go back to my original point, if they dont like him or his direction of travel then they have the power to stop him in his tracks. If they choose not to then they must be happy to let him carry on with whatever quest he's on.

Thats the thing about democracy, its great until it doesnt suit your own personal objectives.

To tell you the truth I don't know much about the guy other than what I've read on here and that going by some of his alleged comments he's obviously got a soft spot for the old halcyon days of the former SJFA and that obviously sticks in the craws of some posters on here.

Couldn’t agree more. He has been disrespectful to many a club over the years and this just sounds like a hostile takeover in all but name. Position of power in both camps? Surely somebody would stop that? Especially if he’s said the things that’s been said on here.

How can you have a hostile takeover of an association where any appointments and any changes to the constitution/rules have to be agreed by the majority of member clubs

As a guess I'd say Airdrie will take a lower hire fee. No fans = less hassle.

But you're right. It's madness and seems to be something the new CEO finds completely unacceptable.

Has there ever been an SPL league game played behind closed doors (outwith the covid seasons of course) or would this be a first.

  11. Apparently takes a couple of hours to lift the covers away so presumably they start that at 9am to allow for an inspection at 11am which means that if its raining that's 6 hours of rainfall onto an already sodden pitch.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I can see a late late call off if the rain keeps up tomorrow.

Any decent local games on if that turns out to be the case?

  12. It'll be interesting to see what this guy's motive is behind the bid. As far as I can see he doesn't seem to have any major sporting interest?

Maybe he sees some profit in the media angle or maybe he just wants somewhere to take his Hollywood pals for a pint and take in a game when they visit Scotland.

I look forward to seeing Orlando Bloom buying a round in the Cooper bar.

It's what was said at the AGM, from what I remember; WS members would receive the same information as the other shareholders. How that's shared may vary, based on if it's submitted to the WS Board and then disseminated to the membership or otherwise. Personally, if I were a member, I'd be demanding to see all of the relevant documentation, either sent directly or at a meeting/webinar type event.

I'm afraid that's going to happen, no matter who's in charge/the majority owner of the club. Fir Park is falling apart and we're going to continue to sink thousands into it to keep it going, when we should be selling the land and moving elsewhere.

That, for me, is actually the biggest opportunity any new investor has to sell their vision for the club. Build a new stadium around the community that we're a part of and all of its needs. Rent out medical facilities to the NHS during the week, have charities and local organisations set up in the offices, local MP/MSPs running their clinics there, all of that.

That's the bit that actually excites me about the future of the club, rather than giving me the fear, personally; but only if it's done properly and ensures we're not in any significant debt or are tied into some sort of horrendous agreement on funding etc.

I've always thought we missed the bus a bit with Ravenscraig.

I imagined a new stadium linked to the Ravenscraig facility with franchises like MCDs KFC etc based there  generating rental income and giving community groups NL Council and the NHS office facilities like you say. A fully integrated community and sports facility in partnership with the different bodies.

    You can always dream.

  14. My take on it is why would we appoint a new CEO and why would any new CEO accept the position if he/she knew that any potential investor was wanting to take a majority stake in the club and appoint their own man.

I'm sure our new CEO would be fully aware of any offer before he took up the job so that gives me a bit of comfort that it might well just be investment with no desire for full control.

As always the proof will be in tbe small print.
