WoSFL Premier Division thread
PollokGang replied to glensmad's topic in West of Scotland Football League
In a country of Scotland’s size there is zero need for 4 national leagues. Two. Three at most. -
Always been the talk on the terraces that was the case. Gary was on the transfer list before Murdo left and Maxwell came in and took him off it.

What about a pie hut? All well feeding a visiting committee but the paying punters should have been made aware about the lack of facilities. -

To echo, quite simply the worst place I’ve had the displeasure of watching football. The way fans were packed in. No pies, no toilet facilities, surely these are minimum requirements? Great win made it just bearable. -
Has the executive not completely changed this season from last year?

Yeh punch was thrown, really poor officiating and I feel the referee bottled it. Felt he was eager to book some lesser tackles and some real nasty ones (one from each team) were let go. Both teams did well in windy conditions and the pie was utterly incredible, much better than the rubbish we have at Newlandsfield. Good luck for the rest of the season. -

Hoping forecast improves as it isn’t as bad as it was last night. Looking forward to the game. Season defining for Pollok. How do Talbot fans view it with the league and junior cup still attainable? -
That’s even dafter as surely your team is only playing in one of the other? You get promoted then you aren’t active in the east? Not as conflicted but daft.
-
I don’t know any of these people personally but that seems to be a conflict of interest. You should be able to serve on boards of the West or the juniors but not both at the same time.
-
Some of them didn’t try in black and white either. Not surprised how it turned out.

Only so many Saturdays we can utilise. The League should take priority. Play the first round when the licensed clubs are in the big Scottish and have the semi finals and final over weekends too. Then you are only playing 3 midweek rounds? Could even play the junior cup quarters and semis after the last league game. Money wise, it’ll depend on opponent rather the competition. Pollok would make more from playing Linlithgow in the Challenge Cup than playing say Cumnock in the junior cup. -

I’d like to see an extra round of midweek games in September for the Premier League and the majority of Junior Cup played midweek. Would massively ease congestion in my opinion. -

Two horse race. Beith a far better side than Clydebank or St Cadocs. I haven’t seen Auchinleck since they lost at Newlandsfield in July, but it is clear that have picked up and are on a hell of a run. -
Manger Mckim must be on borrowed time? If the terrace whispers are even half true about what the ex-Lok lads were offered they should be winning the league at a canter. That’s before you consider Dorrans and Lafferty.

What would you think the average wage at both clubs is. Genuinely curious? I’m not really ITK, but I know Pollok were in for Calum Graham (god knows why he’s Bambi on ice) but couldn’t get anywhere near what Bankies payed. -

4th behind Darvel, St Cadocs and Gartcairn. -

Clydebank like Pollok two seasons ago. Points on the board but not going to win it as dropped too many points against title rivals. Daft long term contract for an underachieving manager too. Feel it’ll be a two horse race with Darvel and Beith. Talbot could squeeze in but a lot of cup football could hinder them. I’m sure Talbot will prioritise the Junior Cup. Have to applaud Tommy Sloan as he’s done it again. -
Always good to see other fans wanting to see Pollok fail. Whatever the current situation and outcome of the current situation is, Pollok will be stronger for it. No club outside the top five in the country surely budgets on Scottish cup. Ludicrous.

Not sure about the financial stuff as I’m not privy to that information. Hutton left cause all he could do was pass sidewards or get booked. Couldn’t score, assist or tackle. -

Hmm interesting. Which committee members were involved, who was the candidate and where did they meet? -
So very similar to Maxwell then. A minor cup, Junior Cup semi finals and a title challenge (2016/2017). Not saying Pollok are going to win the league this year. Kennedy, Sloan, Henderson, McEwan, Miller and McInally have pretty much shared all the major honours in the last 10 years.

What had Chris Strain won prior to last season?

Sure McVey was the year we were really crap and McInally moved him out. But interesting point! -

Pollok report the bill to club members each season. The club pays well for the level - fat more than I think is appropriate but that is football and you have to try and remain and compete. Rumours abound, what a few friends and former players have been offered elsewhere. If Pollok truly are second - a lot of squads in Ayrshire and West Dumbartonshire must have a few lads playing for free. -
