  1. Where do you even start with the 3 losses to Elgin, Stranraer and Forfar. As for the squad, King scoring the odd screamer is not enough to justify him staying in the starting 11 when you are so far adrift at the bottom and he gives up or shows a lack of effort in games. I'd honestly much rather they start anyone else who tries. What is it going to take for 2 strikers to be played up front. Rennie scored 2 at the weekend when he has support. Most of the goals he's scored are with support, not as a lone striker having it launched up. Anytime I've seen him play as a lone striker it doesn't work. Then for the defence. Play defenders in defence please, preferably a full back at full back. It's too easy for opponents to have a game plan when we are so predictable with the same mistakes and same weaknesses in the starting 11. By all accounts these teams are very poor. We have absolutely no chance against EK for exactly those reasons. If they are even half tactically aware it will be easier than it was for Annan in the play off. Poor, poor showing. I may as well go and see Cumbernauld Colts, my now local team, as they are most certainly more professionally run and seem to have been able to establish roots locally where Clyde apparently couldn't.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised either. But I apportion almost no blame at his door. He was asked to come in and had no choice but to release many and go for signings in January. Not an easy task. What would be the big selling point of coming exactly? Come and play for Clyde in a toxic, losing environment. Think he's probably done the best he can with a poor hand, maybe underestimated just how bad a situation he was walking into. It would seem strange to me for some to blame McCall. The evidence from his other jobs suggests he isn't the issue. A playoff will be a step too far in my opinion. We would need to be able to compete in more than one game and not make mistakes. We haven't achieved that in the best part of two seasons. All EK or Brechin need to do is be up for it and have a semblance of a game plan. The chairman is the one that has to go. I honestly thought at the beginning of the season we'd maybe finish around 6th or 7th. But from what I can recall he was talking up the chances of promotion this year. Crownpoint, hiring/ not getting rid of Duffy, the need to rebuild a squad mid season and not even being able to organise the basics like a white home shirt is the list just from the top of my head. The bottom line is he's been in charge and we've had a losing mentality and very noticeable decline for the best part of 2, possibly 3 seasons.
  3. Regardless of the strength of the squad is 14 games enough to avoid the bottom position in the league? Even if we were to win 7 it might not be enough. When was the last time we put together the type of string of results we need. 2018-19? Also as a non owner is it true the chairman won a large backing? I find that unbelievable given some of the stuff on here and obvious decline up until now for the last 3 years. For anyone that did vote for him, why? I put almost all of the recent recruitment down to Maitland/ McCall.
  4. Some mixed thoughts about yesterday. Why was Parry dropped earlier in the season? The back 4 looked good. My only frustration was Dunachie. He rarely gets beaten but will win the ball and automatically launch it to the opposition. It would be good if he could occasionally try to pick out his own team mate. The midfield at times looked like they didn't know what to do with the ball and a bit slow with their decisions. I also don't think Allan should be played up front by himself. Those Peterhead defenders needed to be pressurised more and one up front just isn't enough to do it. I've read others mention Young. I'd personally stick Rennie up there with him. We need to start scoring more than once to kill the game, which could have happened yesterday if we'd taken chances. Thinking about the remaining fixtures gives me the fear. Going by last season you need close to 40 points to avoid bottom spot. Say this year it ends up being around the 30-35 mark. That means finding promotion type form and probably winning more games than we have from last season up until now. Lose or draw next week and its preparing for Brechin or EK.
  5. I also remember the Brechin game and genuinely felt very sorry for Mcculloch. He isnt yet at the level required, but the level of abuse directed at him in that game couldn't have helped his confidence and he seemed to get worse on the back of it as the game went on. I remember saying leaving the game that I didn't think he'd recover. I didn't think there was ever a lack of effort, so good luck to him in the lowland league.
  6. From where I was sitting Cameron made a two footed challenge which looked a bit dangerous. I don't think the ref had much option. Jeanfield competed well and you'd be forgiven for thinking the 10 outfield players were in the same league as us. Some good link up play and were it not for Craig getting subbed at half time as he was so poor, and their keeper being poor, it could have went to extra time. Glad we won, but I won't be getting carried away. I'm really not sure where Mccall should start. Pleased to see a manager look as if he cares on the touchline.
  7. This is probably one of the more realistic options. There aren't many managers about that have taken over a squad at the bottom of league 2 like he did with Albion and survived. Albion also noticeably improved from what I can recall and started grinding out results with him as manager.
  8. I think it was with Morton in league 1 after leaving us the last time.
  9. Last night is one of the worst attendances I can remember. As for the performance Brechin were entirely beatable but it seems any team that tries and sticks to a basic game plan against us will have a good chance. I can't see how we are going to attract any other players. What would be the big selling point of coming? Mcculloch for instance, as poor as he was, must be wishing he'd stayed where he was. Completely shattered confidence when hes only started a few senior games and I don't see it recovering with the abuse that gets shouted. The stadium feels soulless. The whole game had negative vibes about it and I kind of wish id have just walked away when there was issues at the gate and let them keep the 12 quid.
  10. Yesterday was ok in the first half, good at points. Sula and Dunachie looked a good pairing. I'm hoping that the defence will do well in league 2. The second half was poor. They kept on doubling up on Craig and Mcculloch on the wings and we didnt deal with it, something which can't be blamed on them when they close down to find the second man has moved into space. I didnt feel the performance of either were as bad as some have suggested. When it comes to Forbes I can remember comments on here when we signed him and I couldn't recall him. On yesterday's viewing I am struggling to think why the club were willing to give him a deal without him drastically improving his fitness. If the plan is to start him in midfield for the season it will be a glaring weakness for teams to use. It is criminal to finish last year with squad depth as one of the issues that cost us in the play-off final to then be on the verge of a new league season starting in three weeks time with the same issue.
  11. I hope I dont regret saying this but I don't think Clyde will be in the bottom two next season. If you look at the squad there are players who have done ok at League 2 level before, Peter Grant, Carswell, Cuddihy, Rennie and possibly Ray Grant. Players like Sula and Scullion have the odd mistake in their game but I think will do ok/well at league 2 level. I think there is a outside chance they might compete for a playoff place, possibly narrowly miss out in 5th. The unknown variable is the untested head coach.
  12. Due to Duffy still being involved I fully expect that now that Doherty is gone we will see a Rennie partnership with either Sula/ or Dunachie playing up front. And i'm not even kidding. His track record of trying Sula up front once or twice last year, and his previous for playing Pat Scullion up front years ago at this level, makes it easy to imagine Duffy advising Mclean to just try chucking one of them up there instead of trying to bring a striker in.
  13. I have no idea if he has an interest in stepping into a head coach role but the Club could do worse than at least ask the question of Lee Sharp. Hes been assistant / first team coach to Goodwin at a few clubs and probably has a decent list of contacts for building a squad. Hes also worked with us before as a coach and if i'm not mistaken played and worked under Duffy before also.
  14. There's also the issue of squad depth/ possibly fitness. It looked at times as though it was Clyde PT against Annan FT after about 60-70 mins, rather than two part time teams. It didn't seem to be a lack of effort. But they looked tired. Annan were also stronger in their wide areas.
  15. Theres been a few times now ive felt the squad are playing at a mid league 2 level and last night seemed to confirm it. I didnt think there was a lack of effort, but there are glaring weaknesses in the squad. Having said that every season for the past few years we have recruited almost a whole new squad, who havent been as good as the last one. Is there not a case for trying to keep a core of a squad for next year, instead of doing the same thing again. I see no reason why some of them wont compete in league 2.
  16. I really hope that we don't start McDonald. From what I can recall Annan are defensively strong/big. I've not seen anything to suggest he could handle that. I reckon he would be more effective as a sub later on. Surely we should be starting two up top. Salkeld and Rennie played well against East Fife in the first leg I thought. I'm not sure what Rennie has to do to get a regular start . Some are saying he doesn't do enough. He's in the right places at the right time. He's scored in both legs of the most important games so far this season.
  17. That a decision was made to leave Broadwood at an early stage when we may well lose to the competing bidder, which I see as being a real likelihood. There doesnt seem to be much acknowledgement at the poor decision making over the past 18 months over the move, the manager, the recruitment. Not to mention how it looks to whoever decides upon it.
  18. I'm find this hard to believe from what i've seen. Even including the matches we've won I think the performances are of a mid table league 2 side. I suppose it is possible we could get through a playoff but we will be relying on the opposition missing chances, like we've done with the win against Peterhead- who were rotten. We also need to remember that East Fife seem to have improved since last year at the right time. They won 8-0 the other week. Now I don't think thats going to happen in a playoff but my fear is that the playoffs are going to be a rather sore reality check as to level we are at. Even if we survive what next? I was shocked, based on the website, at the stage that the proposed Crownpoint move is actually at.
  19. If the way the Club has been run is focused on by the decision maker then it would not surprise me if the other bid is chosen. The fact that those running the Club left Broadwood with it only being at this stage is hugely frustrating and poor management given how it's went.
  20. You wont be winning the league next week. It would take a real shit the bed exercise today from Falkirk, the likes of which i've never seen due to gap in standard. The last game must be up there as the least competitive game of the season. It was enough to make you think twice about attending again this season.
  21. I admire the optimism of some fans who still think there is a chance of us getting through the play offs. Peterhead have two games in hand. All it takes is for Peterhead to draw any game and beat us at their home ground and we are finishing bottom. Quite a realistic scenario imo. If we do make the playoff then it looks like it could be either Dumbarton or Stirling awaiting in the final, if we get through the first round. Looking at our squad not many would get into either of theirs on individual forms and I've seen nothing to suggest in a one off game the squad can get a result against any decent opposition. Probably the least competitive squad I can recall us having. Am I missing something?
  22. Im already dreading the thought of it for another season. They wont sack him due to finances. Lennon was sacked with a better track record, albeit a poor one this season. The Club should be taking steps to sound out a coach/manager. E.g Lee Sharp has worked for the Club before and has the experience of being assistant/first team coach at Alloa, St Mirren and Aberdeen. The Club could do worse than asking if hes interested for next year. No doubt there must be a few coaches. It must be better than this but I have no faith in them to do it with the track record over the last 12 months.
  23. Kurtis Roberts was the difference between the sides today, always pressing to get the ball back. Assuming he is on a one year contract I'd be surprised if someone doesnt offer him a better deal next season. Mcgeever also looks committed but he was lucky not to be sent off in the first half for a two footed lunge. Peterhead should have been awarded a penalty for it, although they were so wasteful, and at times unlucky, with chances like hitting the crossbar. I'm relieved that there's finally a win but it can't excuse some of the poor performances recently. I hope it can be the start of players gaining a bit of confidence.
  24. I can't blame you. Whilst they may be trying the squad have lost all/any confidence from the first few games this season. I can't remember the last game I came away from being able to say it was a good watch. As soon as they concede it is inevitable the games done. Making the playoffs are a frightening prospect because some of the League 2 sides will easily compete with us. A case in point is Dumbarton in the cup- who looked as though they were in a training session with us. If they don't win league 2 we are going down. And also more worryingly Elgin (who sit 5th in L2) who we didn't break down, it took penalties. So we couldn't beat a team in 90 mins who currently lie below the playoffs in League 2.
  25. Do you not remember the New Year statement on the official site? They referred to requiring personal donations to bridge the short term financial gap for signings. In other words it would seem the finances are not good and generally the messages coming from the club don't fill you with any confidence. The Club will not get rid of Duffy and don't have the money to do so. This season will play out in one of two ways. Option 1: Duffy manages to get us to a playoff and keep us up. It looks less likely this will happen from what i've seen, and it would be a managerial feat based on current circumstances. But if it does happen he will no doubt be given another season by the board. Next season we then get relegated due to an even lower budget and an even worse points tally due to not being able to compete. Option 2: We get relegated. The board give Duffy another season probably citing his efforts and it being difficult taking over from Lennon. Either way Duffy is staying unless he chooses to walk. Another indication is the signings on 18 month deals. There is a strong whiff that Duffy will be here next year.
