  1. I was just having a wee look at the East of Scotland website, and noticed that Edinburgh United have been deducted a few more points and are showing as having been relegated. A late reprieve for Craigroyston.
  2. Took in West Calder v Edinburgh College yesterday. It was a really good game, College started strongly and got themselves 2-0 up fairly quickly, but after that West Calder got a grip back in the game, and it fairly matched, going 2-1 at halftime. The second half started, and West Calder gave away a daft penalty for a late challenge on a guy who missed his shot before the contact; the penalty went in to send Edinburgh College 3-1 up. I felt West Calder then took over the game for the next period of play, getting a goal back and threatening another, they were dangerous from corners all game long. However, a second penalty was given to Edinburgh College, and Calder was down to 10 men, once again the challenge was utterly unnecessary imo as I felt the ball was going out of play anyway; the sending-off was a second booking, and I thought it just about deserved a booking but considering it was a second it could be viewed as a bit harsh. Keeper saved the penalty, and the rebound went well wide; after that, West Calder had their last big effort and got an equaliser to set up an exciting last 15 minutes. The game became increasingly niggly for the next period, and I felt College looked nervous, but the hosts started to tire playing with 10 men. The last goal was an absolute screamer from outside the box, looped over the keeper and settled perfectly in the opposite side bottom corner of the net. This was my 49th match this season, and this was one of the best, well worthy of the occasion. Congratulations to Edinburgh College.
  3. How did you come across the document so quickly?
  4. Also worth noting is that the account was registered for 7 days before posting, however, that was the same date the name change documents were submitted.
  5. Yes, but Paul was stuck at the Liverpool academy with guys like Steven Gerrard. With the new conference league, Paul 2.0 would avoid this and instead reach the pinnacle of world football after a few seasons sharpening his skills against Brora Rangers, University of Stirling and a plethora of other B teams.
  6. Amazingly rigorous process they have. We asked a few clubs with a vested interest and they told us it's a good idea.
  7. This is such bad methodology part of the reason teams have a low score is that they don't qualify for Europe every year, as Rangers and Celtic earned two spots each year, there are fewer available. Just subtracting two without acknowledging the opportunity that would have been given to someone else doesn't constitute a fair argument. It's like saying the League Cup is a farce because if you take out Rangers and Celtic matches, there wasn't even a final this year. Not that I think the current system is functioning as well as it could be, but accepting change for changes sake doesn't work either.
  8. There's no 'of course' about this, it's an unknown at best. Personally, I don't think many people who play in the Scottish 5th tier when they are aged 18-21 are on a pathway to elite development which helps the national team.
  9. it's the other way around Edinburgh Uni will only go down if Brechin are promoted.
  10. If the thing goes through, we're probably only 2 or 3 years away from "the fee is too big, that money could be spent on player development." After that, the League 2 teams lose their safety net again, and the final push into the SPFL begins.
  11. The conference league doesn't offer that, the two things are independent.
  12. Do we know for sure the invitation criteria would be based on league position?
  13. They wouldn't move up a league they would still be competing at tier 5.
  14. They would have a hard time arguing it was 'appropriate' if the members voted against it.
