As usual that was an enjoyable game. I spent most of it thinking I was 1 move from disaster so I’m not surprised I missed something (probably lots of things)

Tell me about it. It’s been a strange season. We started with lots of long term injuries & last year’s assistant as the new manager, then sacked him on NYE, then showed little interest in finding a replacement for months. it was like the people running the club had already written this season off. I think that rubbed off on the fans and players, yet we’re only 90 minutes from promotion. I’d have taken that at any point from October onwards.

It’s interesting reading the different reasons people give for who they want to win. But anyone saying Airdrie is wrong.

I’d just sacrificed a pawn to try and get an attack going. I wouldn’t have wanted to swap queens.

Eccentric opening? Maybe but I think the 1st pawn sacrifice is theory. (Of course that doesn’t make it good) I thought I was struggling to justify it up until you decided to try and run your King to safety. Couldn’t you have played Qf2 instead? Wasn’t worried about the 2nd pawn as I thought I’d always have a good chance of mating you. Having said that, you defended really well and I wouldn’t be surprised if we both missed stuff. It was a wild position. Thanks for the game, it was tough but very enjoyable. (as always)

I must be missing lots of games. I’m still playing AimHere but that’s all. I’m ok with all missing games being declared draws (as long as it doesn’t relegate me.)

I thought it was a bit of a charity draw from you, I think you were better. I thought I was ok coming out the opening but just lost my way in the middle game.

Another couple of wins which I don’t know if they’ve been reported or not. Ziggy beats gkneil - I like playing gkneil. He always comes out punching so you’re guaranteed an entertaining game. Ziggy beats Beef - Beef never really got going, lost a pawn quite early on and I was able to simplify into a nice endgame where all my pieces were just a bit better than my opponents. Pleased with a win against an opponent that I’ve struggled against in previous meetings.

Thanks for the game, I don’t know how much of it was book was it was a typical Benko Gambit game. I was worried that I had misplayed it and maybe wasn’t going to get enough compensation for my pawn but my active rooks and bishop meant you always had to be careful. Nice to finally get some points on the board.

Apologies for the very slow response. Well played, that was probably the biggest slapping that anyone has given me since I started playing again. It was my own fault, I played a very sharp opening gambit and was still following theory until move 8 or 9 when I got my move order mixed up. (It’s really annoying because the game was following another game that I was playing where I had already played them in the correct order) That might not sound like much of an error, but when you’re already gambiting two pawns you really have to be precise. I wasn’t and you never gave me chance to recover. Good game mate.

I’d prefer smaller leagues. What’s wrong with 3 leagues of 8 (apart from it doesn’t = 25) I’d also prefer it all the games started the same week. my last recommendation would be that Trogdor has to start a piece down.
