That was my first trip to lesser. It’s all a bit strange. Chandeliers in the royal box, fans on ladders peering over fences, small groups of fans watching from a nearby hill, weird acoustics. As for the football we were miles better than Arbroath but I still wouldn’t have been surprised if we hadn’t won. We really should have scored a few more and we need to become a bit more clinical. Should be fun to watch this season.

Thanks for the game mate. I thought you played really well for most of it and were maybe slightly better after 20 odd moves. When it comes to rook & pawn endgames it’s really important to try and be as active/aggressive as possible. You were just too passive and that allowed me to get on the front foot. It feels like I got away with one in this game, I spent most of it worrying that it wasn’t going well.

Thanks for the game. There’s nothing wrong with taking the pawn but you can’t take so long to get your pieces out and then castled.

Apologies M8, I’ve not been good at reporting back. I only have 1 game from prior weeks to complete (I’m still playing Pleslie999). Rd18 I beat Arabjoe by checkmate. I thought it was quite an even opening however after castling long, my opponent wasted a bit of time which allowed me to get on the front foot. Rd20 I beat Markf268 on time although the game was more or less done. Thanks for the games.

Thanks for the game m8. I felt you just wasted too much time moving pawns which allowed me to trap your king in the centre.

Thanks for the game. Interestingly, I think that after about 9 or 10 moves we may have reached an identical position (albeit with a slightly different move order) as a game I played against Trogdor.

I also won my Rd15 & 16 games against mackieboz & RBWatson. Both games were quite tight but I was able to win a couple of pawns and grind out the wins. Thanks for the games!

Div B Rd12. Ziggy beats XCTR94 by checkmate. An interesting game, I wasn’t convinced by the number of times my opponent moved his queen in the opening but it was still about equal about a dozen moves in. Getting your king caught in the centre was a killer though, it could have been a tough game if you’d castled when you had the chance. Thanks for the game!!

Div B Rd9. Ziggy beats Markf268 by resignation. I won a pawn in the opening, my opponent tried to win one back but lost a piece in the process. Thanks for the game.

I don’t know if I’d call that a battering. I wasn’t that happy with my position and thought you were probably better after the 1st dozen or so moves. It was only after the position opened up that it all seemed to unravel for you. Thanks for the game.

Thanks for the game mate. I think you resigned a few moves early. I was winning but there was still a chance I could have fallen for a back rank mate. I might have played on until my opponent played h6 or g6 to allow their king an escape route.

Div B Round 7 Ziggy beats Arabjoe by checkmate. An unusual choice of defence by my opponent, I think playing f6 & Bd6 was always going to cause you problems and I should have probably taken advantage a bit earlier than I did. thanks for the game mate!

Thanks for the game, I thought you started not too bad. You just wasted too much time moving the same pieces more than once. In a position as open as that you have to make sure you can get your king to safety. You were doing alright for the first ten moves or so & I think you would have been fine if you’d castled when you had the chance. Thanks for the game. In my other games,….. I beat Mackieboz after he made an early blunder. My toughest game so far has been against The_Kid1433. I was a couple of pawns up early but then played far too passively. As a result I ended up with a really cramped position and had to be really careful. It took me ages to develop any pieces and I was a bit lucky that it didn’t all fall apart.

Is it too late for me to jump back in? if it messes up the the league tables then I’m happy enough to start in the lower division?
