I thought the surface at Firhill looked pretty good especially at this stage of the season and the piss poor weather we've had over the past couple of months. I'm also fairly certain I was watching the players warm up pre match and half time with the sprinklers on. Watched the highlights back this morning and can only hope the loud mouth behind me who was giving the linesman pelters at the 1st goal and for about 10 minutes after, noticed that the goalscorer started his run from his own half. We've looked shaky at the back with the back 4 after our better performances with a 3/5. Megwa and Hancock at least yesterday were still trying to get down the wings but we were completely lacking cover for them when they did go forward. Ideally have Ballantyne back for play offs even if it means managing his minutes in the last 2 matches.

Initial reaction of "what the f**k, no Airdrie player?" quickly replaced by yeah, fair enough, we've been utter horseshit in every match we played against Ayr and that's all you'll have to go on. Otherwise I'd certainly be calling for at least one of Megwa/Hancock/McMaster and Telfer to be in a best 11. Had Aiken not succumbed to his early injury he'd have been a shoe in for any team of the season had his early season form continued. And echoing the sentiments of a fellow diamond, on the basis of games against us, Dowds has been bloody clinical so I'd have to stick him up top.

There is a difference between citing him as a "favourite ever player" and best striker. I've seen some excellent strikers at the club since the late 70's and while Gal is nowhere near as clinical as someone like Coyle the fact that he came to the club when we had been struggling in League 1 and was an integral part of the turnaround in the clubs fortunes goes some way to cementing his place as a bit of a hero. I dare say that at any time during his 5 seasons with us he could easily have got more money elsewhere but chose not to. His achievements last season in the promotion winning team will ensure that he's fondly remembered and as a (step) parent of a young laddie who absolutely idolises the man it's been great to see how willing he is to spend time with the young supporters. He always comes across as being a thoroughly decent guy to boot. He is 100% deserving of whatever the club do to commemorate his achievements with us and will undoubtedly be one of the relatively few players that I will actually look to see doing well at his next club.

Regardless of what he claims there's no way that any contact from McGregor would have been deliberate given that he was the one who stuck a leg out making the tackle on McGregor running at full pelt. His reaction to McGregor was way OTT.

After posting the clip of Deano's goal, that's another clip that @AirdrieFanTVmanaged to get and having been shown it at slo-mo can confirm that Benedictus did indeed manage to get his outstretched leg to the ball. Don't know why the f**k he was having a go at Lewis McGregor after it though as he did connect with him after the ball causing him to go down. As a result of him being such an arsehole I was happy to see that he'd fucked himself as a result of the tackle and had to go off.

That back 3/5 has looked excellent in recent weeks from an attacking point of view and the difference today was noticeable immediately after Ballantyne went off. We barely saw Hancock venture beyond the half way line from then on and he was a huge miss down the left. Given Ballantyne has had previous injury worries this season I thought he hadn't looked completely fit the last two matches and commented early in today's game about that. Don't think we have anyone who can come in to make up a central 3 (I'm ruling out ATS and Rhys) and having to go back to the flat back 4 for remaining games and possibly play offs would worry me. Hopefully it's not going to be a major thing for Cammy, just precautionary and we can see him back.

It was actually decent and it's always good hearing Craig Easton talking about his younger days supporting the diamonds. Both him and Ireland were knowledgeable about the teams in the league which is more than can be said for the regular hosts. I've listened to a couple of previous episodes, usually just when they've got someone decent on as I really struggle listening to them making shit up.

And IF the header from Janny in the second half at two nil up minutes before you scored had gone in with the keeper rooted to the spot instead of being a couple of cm past the post then your "fans" who left early would have left even earlier.

Decision to not open a second stand, even the small one, would be purely financial. If they can be safely squeezed into ours then that's always going to happen.

Airdrie fans "roundly booed a player" mostly for his own lies about being racially abused and less so to do with his brother. He came out with this pish after the play off with Queen's Park in 2022. There was no racial or sectarian abuse directed at him or any other player in those games but he's the kind of guy who is going to play that card. He's a despicable little p***k for that alone and I'll happily continue shouting at him in any game he plays against us. My only disappointment today was that Cammy Ballantyne missed him. Except that's not really what happened. O'Connor was fouled in the first instance, the Morton player was "helping" him to his feet and O'Connor quite clearly threw himself to the ground. He didn't need to do that and I can only imagine he did it to try and get the player booked or sent off which is pretty shite behaviour in my book.

No. The ref saw the incident and deemed it a yellow card offence (f**k knows how he came to that conclusion though). Game finished and matter closed. If he hadn't issued a card he could have claimed to have not seen it and retrospective action could then have been taken. But he did. So he can't. And now he'll probably be demoted to the West of Scotland under 12s league for a couple of weeks as his punishment.

Bankies played yesterday and won which probably won't fit your narrative.

No such hypocrisy from me as my (seemingly one person) boycott of the tournament continues until such time as B teams are no longer included. First final of my half century lifetime I've missed but it's not the end of the world and there's more to life than fitba. The wee fella and his pal are still going though as their boycott only extends to matches actually involving the B teams Hope everyone that is going has a great day out though and that we can scud this shower, consigning them to a miserable journey back to England.

Just watched the goals back. Keeper could have done more to prevent their 2nd. Seemed unsure and hesitant but given he only met his teammates this week we can chalk that up to getting to know one another.
