The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

Given RC have just beaten the blue mob, it shows that if a team gets their tactics right, unexpected results can happen - so why not us? Two things for post split :- 1. The Fakes are still in trouble. 2. If we win 3, draw 1 and Killie lose 4 and get 1 draw, we are comfortably 4th. C O Y S -

SR said there would be a game next Sat... presumably a friendly to keep us match sharp and get minutes in the legs of those who need them most. -

However, it may have to be played as a mud wrestling match on their marshland. That's the game we most need to win. -

Hemming overall has been good. At times he's looked poor but you can say that about others also. e.g. Gogic when he floundered a few times. Gogic POTY for me though by a decent margin. Tanser started so well and Kiltie is consistent almost always. Fraser likewise has been consistent apart from 1 or 2 mistakes. I think he does the boring stuff really well though. CBM possibly the best consistent performer in the midfield has been decent too. The big deal is we have a fair few good players already signed for our foray into Europe. Let's just make it happen and bring in good reinforcements. -

Fully agree with what Gogic has brought to our team being significant, but O'Hara was our top performer last season and not had the best of seasons this year. Big Joe was a stalwark but then we managed without him. Folk were throwing tantrums when Carson was going etc etc. I think Gogic adds energy and drives the team which adds to his footballing abilities but the decisions like who stays are not fan decisions. The issue is we need to seek improvement and need to spend our wages budget wisely. We seem to have been doing that very well, so there are reasons to be hopeful for next season too. If we don't lose current management members. -

Mandron's scored (7) approx. 1 in 4 league matches he's played in (not all for 90 mins) and (3) = 1 in 2 League Cup games. Currently our top scorer too. He's also posted 3 assists. I'm not suggesting he's a superstar but given he's our top scorer there are 3 or 4 others it would be better to loan out before him surely? No problem with you having an opinion though. -

They posted a £ 2.9 million loss for last year - and this season's wage bill won't have helped them for this year. at the year-end, there was a deficit of £6,249,728 - nearly double the 2022 figure -

Sure we'd all love that but it's not very likely. Think he'll be back out on loan again, hopefully at a better team and he'd really kick on, then who knows.... -

Toyosi's goal yesterday. What a transformed guy he is... stronger and more clinical. If he can improve at the same rate as this season he will be a big asset. I really hope we kick on in the play-offs. -

So Mandron has created 24. I know it's only 1 comparison but he's only scored 7 league goals and 2 assists. . Although he has played less. Kiltie created 33. Scored 4 and 5 assists. I think comparing him to Murray is more reasonable. Kiltie has some other attributes but Murray is more clinical. -

Murray is nothing like Main. He plays off a main striker... so with Mandron or Ayunga His stats say he created 35 chances in the league... imagine Mandron on those instead of White -

Ok, but Murray plays off and with a main striker. He's also tricky enough to create his own chances. His wages are the issue. So if we get europe, he might be an option. As for his age, he's still got a season or 2 at this level. He's a fit lad and not often missing due to injuries. -

He usually plays off the main striker... White or a n other. He's often out wide putting good balls in. Turns out when he's got chances he has a decent hit rate. -

10 goals and 4 assists for RC this season... Aren't fans always looking for ac10 goal plus striker? He's a free agent in the summer. Think Utd might be interested. -

A few others answered this well. He's still young but has shown some past magic. I think SR has said to him there is a Jersey here for you but you need to want it and get yourself fully fit. Maybe in the final 5 or so games he will get going but if not next season. I'd still consider signing Murray though -

There were folk claiming they knew who they were. Spittal was 1, but Hearts bound Bedeau and Anderson were touted I don't fancy the later option though. And the Well keeper rumour drifted about. i think 1 will be a keeper! What about Murray from RC? I know we've got Scott but Murray scores and assists... Go on let's throw some other names about -

Rumourmill is Gavin Price and assistant Stephen Simmons are in talks. They currently have a cracking win rate and can work with Cormack's budget.

Thanks for this. Who knew that OG was our joint 4th top scorer.
