  1. Yes, fit & no new contract on offer from Aberdeen. Will most likely end up back down South as he’s from London.
  2. Yer a grade A zoomer Brechin won the Highland League by winning 28 games scoring 101 goals by comparison Celtic won the premiership by winning 32 games scoring 114 goals so if anyone were to use your expert analysis, anything beneath Celtic is absolutely jobbies PS Paterson was 21 on joining Arbroath & Shanks was 20 so hardly surprising they never played “at any level”
  3. El Mhanni, Adwarka, Komolafe & Banks all away. Good chance there will be more movement out of Gayfield today…..
  4. Peterhead threw enough cash at a survival attempt by giving Fosu £600/week Shanks started every week but not the best move for a striker to go to a team that were really struggling - perhaps he was told there or the bench & other loans were turned down by the club
  5. Think the fee was closer £20k - no way Elgin would have got £50k for a player with a year left on his contract i also doubt Peterhead would have bid £30k & besides Elgin we’re very reluctant to sell to a club in the same division.
  6. Trained with them once as Arbroath weren’t training for reasons you have stated above. Better than not training at all
  7. You mean release players that are currently under contract? Surely there are costs associated with that?
  8. I would tend to believe the first part of that comment but struggling with the second part.
  9. Forgetting about Fosu? Shanks on loan to an Angus club - any particular reason why it needs to be an Angus club? Might be a bit presumptuous to think/hope that Oakley 1. wants to stay & 2. his parent club want him to stay. Could be a lot of interest in him based on his performances.
  10. 110% played a formation that no-one had even spoken about never mind attempt even in training…..set-up to fail to suit the manager’s narrative
  11. Looked to me like 3-5-2 was deployed in the 1st half last night. Played that before - I think not.
  12. Never know if you don’t play a striker……ever
  13. Something to build on no? Couple of months ago that would have been a defeat
  14. Would you have taken a draw before kick off - guessing yes but better team for large spells thanks god for Accies
  15. Arguing with the management team - will he be given the same treatment as Bobby got i.e. dropped next week……..?
  16. What a load of jobbies - a striker on the pitch gets a shot away quicker than Scott Allen with his chance in the first half & Fosu in the 2nd
  17. Oh look, here’s a photo of one of our striker’s scoring a goal against yesterday’s opponents at Bellslea TWO YEARS AGO but was sat on the bench yesterday.
  18. Yesterday was always going to be a lose/lose situation regardless of outcome so a win & being in the hat for the next round was all that mattered. but tie played in difficult conditions? Is that any different to Gayfield…….? A team at the top end of the Highland League? Inverurie Locos have won twice at Bellslea this season. Scott Allan? Should have the experience to pull the strings in midfield from start to finish, not just play 1 killer pass. How many times does he give the ball away? He doesn’t always see the runs forwards make nor play it forward quickly enough to get the team up the pitch let alone make attempts at getting beyond the lone striker. Furthermore, he moaned & moaned again at Shanks for simply passing to him instead of playing for a foul. Most likely would have moaned if Shanks had won a foul & not passed to him……….
  19. Maybe it’s to do with application, attitude, contract situation or all of the above. who would know
  20. No striker against a Highland League outfit - Jesus wept Can DC use the “the remember where he (Shanks) came fae” line this week………. Starting to think Dick put Shanks in the starting 11 for Caley away in the hope he’d fail
  21. Where’s Dick’s tombola for team selections going to stop on Saturday? Heard someone say a 6 nil win to “paper over the cracks” at Firhill yesterday - absolute sh*te & if the management & players are in that mindset I am very concerned. This will be the Broch’s cup final. Not the team of last season but they had a massive confidence boost yesterday by beating Buckie. Bellslea a tight pitch with similar elements to Gayfield & the Broch have players that can do damage - they are no mugs & will scrap for absolutely everything. Scott Barbour the main danger, Highland League player of the year & top scorer last season. Will most likely come in off the left & knows where the goal is. Not frightened to have a go direct from corners if the wind is favourable. Long high punts to a lone striker won’t be the answer either as that will be food & drink to Hay & Simpson their two centre halves.
  22. A well known striker trained with the squad on Monday night but wasn’t there on Wednesday night
  23. I guess it comes down to what is defined as being given a “chance” Sporadic 10-15 mins here or there does the square root of zilch for match fitness. Is it fair to judge strikers (or any player for that matter) if not match fit & lacking sharpness required by a striker? I wouldn’t have been surprised if Shanks was hooked at half-time on Saturday as he was breathing through his jacksie - despite being amongst the fitter & quicker of the squad in training
