Hello, I'm going to be in Fort William next week for a wedding and was thinking of taking the opportunity to go up Ben Nevis. I'm fit and healthy so am not concerned about the general physical side of it but I am not an experienced hill / mountain walker and haven't done any walking in this area before. I'd be using the tourist route (which I know can still be difficult and dangerous if the weather turns) but was wondering if anyone can advise if going up on my own at this time of year is a just a dumb idea full stop that I shouldn't attempt. If the general consensus is to not do it, are there any other suitable good walks in the area that anyone would recommend? Thanks for any advice!
