  1. Was a real rollercoaster of emotions at the time. Up until news of the goal being scored I don't think very many of us even knew there was still a game being played. What a day.
  2. There's actually a really good one for Alloa. Bob Mchugh is widely regarded as a cult hero from the Alloa support but has never actually played for the club. Alloa had just lost to Falkirk at the falkirk stadium, final day of the season and looked destined to finish 9th and in the relegation playoffs. Bob Mchugh then popped up with a 96th minute goal for Queen of the South that seen Alloa jump into 8th place about 4 or 5 minutes after our game had actually finished. I remember speaking to Bob Mchugh a couple of seasons later and he had no idea why the Alloa support always sang his name when he played against us.
  3. Definitely agree with this. I think it's telling that I know of multiple people who have given up attending games this season, not because of the group of youths, because of the attitude from certain security and club staff members. Agree with this but I do distinctly remember a flare ending up on the pitch at Forthbank from the Alloa support earlier in the season too. Two wrongs don't make a right and both clubs could do with getting rid of elements of the support that aren't there for the football.
  4. So is it just Rangers and Celtic byes to the last 16? What happens if, for example, Hearts have an amazing season and finish 1st or 2nd do they take one of these last 16 spots? I'd mirror what some others have said and open the Scottish cup up more. Every licensed teams gains entry, every team in as early as possible, no seeds. In doing that we would probably be looking to restructure the league cup and have less games in that. I'd restructure the leagues at the same time but thats a seperate issue.
  5. Tin pot is being a full time team in a part time league for multiple seasons... I don't think the free hit comment is very far away from the truth. In reality we as a club are not looking to compete with Falkirk this year and if we can take 3 points then it's definitely a bonus but a loss isn't going to hurt too much. In reality we are competing with 7 teams in this division and the games that really matter are the teams around us in the table.
  6. Fairly certain that it was the parent clubs who didn't want them to play vs Dunbar. They would have been waiting at the time to see if the players would go back in Jan and play for the parent club or even maybe a championship club. If the loans are being extended then they should be free to play.
  7. Massive 3 points today. I said in the Hamilton match thread that 1 point over our last 2 games would be a good return, to get 4 is brilliant.
  8. I definitely have an inner monologue, I can even play a whole song in my head right down to the individual instruments. I cannot picture anything in my mind though and didn't realise that people actually could do so to be honest.
  9. A tough couple weeks coming up for Alloa. Firstly this one against top of the table Hamilton, followed by a game against the form team Cove Rangers. I don't think we should dwell on the Edinburgh result or on the performance against Dunbar too much as Alloa were missing a chunk of players for both. In my opinion you have a group of players who will give their all for the new manager and that can help take us a step beyond where we have been the rest of the season prior Andy's appointment. If we can nick a point here i'd be more than happy. 1-1 Ally Roy to score for us, one of the ex Alloa players to score for Hamilton.
  10. All single bets with decimal odds. Clyde vs Jeanfield Swifts - Jeanfield to win 3.00 odds Brora Rangers vs Pollock - Pollock to win 4.20 Hamilton vs Kelty - Hamilton to win 1.80 Spartans vs Arbroath - Arbroath to win 1.70 Dunbar united vs Alloa - Alloa to win 1.50 1 unit on each so 5 units placed to earn back a potential 12.2 units
  11. Going (a little) further back there were also away days to Brora Rangers and Bala Town which were both fantastic. Always great to tick another ground off the list and i'm thoroughly looking forward to this one. I'll give this a listen at some point this week, always looking for good podcasts to listen to whilst driving.
  12. Still got half an hour of the interview to finish on the drive home tonight but Jim is a great guy and it comes across in this interview just as much as it did when he was manager of Alloa. Very complimentary of our club, Mulraney and all things part time football really. I also like that he takes responsibility on things that may not have gone as well as he would have like in his career and doesn't try to lay blame on others. A real stand up guy all round to be honest. I also didn't realise that Lee Sharpe was still with him at Dundee United to be honest.
  13. Also looking forward to Dunbar this weekend. Will be nice to tick another ground off the list and it's really refreshing not to draw another team that we regularly face 4 times a season in the league. By all accounts Dunbar look a very well run non league side and a good standard for their level but I can't envision us running into too many problems to be perfectly honest.
  14. Will give this a listen on my way home today. Think it's a telling factor that you don't ever hear anyone speak critically of the club after leaving but fairly commonly hear praises by people that have moved on. Maybe a biased view from myself but I think we are the most attractive part time clubs in Scotland for both managers and players alike and the only club maybe running us close at the minute is Arbroath. As a club we are pretty well equipped as a good stepping stone into full time football and the numbers again back that up in both players and management.
  15. Really good to see, I think Andy having a very positive relationship with the fans is going to really help too with support off the field. Remember a good few player of the year nights with Andy bringing the patter (and the songs) and definitely getting involved with the supporters. Glasgow cat at the leisure bowl being the highlight. Would be nice to get a Q and A with him in the pre season like we used to have most pre seasons.
