I’m biased. But Clyde being replaced by fucking East Kilbride is a sickening prospect. A nothing club with nothing about them and nothing to offer. I mean EK before anyone starts.

Really poor performance tonight, probably summed up by the only response to going behind being a tame header from Rennie. There was nothing else and never any prospect of an equaliser. Back to constantly inviting pressure at the back and really poor decision making when trying to get out. Elgin pressed well, but there are times when you respond to that by just playing safe (for example when 1-1 in the second half of a must not lose game away from home against a direct rival). Nobody seemed to be steadying the ship and the winner wasn't a susprise at all when it came. The total lack of a response is concerning though. Elgin just looked a better side, and on that showing it'll need to be someone else to be caught. Forfar? I wasn't at Spartans, but that tonight was the first bad performance (I think) for a good few weeks. But it was really poor. f**k it. On to Saturday.

The winner was a shocker from Leighfield, but it was a poor corner to give away in the first place in a spell in the game where Clyde just kept inviting trouble. Could see it coming. Worst performance for a good few weeks. Nothing was sticking up front, passing was poor, total lack of composure. Shite. Elgin deserved the win.

Clyde's last six have been against the current top six in the division, and the only defeats there have been single-goal defeats to the top two. The flimsy team from last season and the start of this is gone. Elgin have picked up points, but they've had easier fixtures of late on paper, and have also lost to Forfar and Dumbarton in their last two. CLYDE WIN. But a point will probably do ok.

We saw them, but we weren't with them. Frankly, we're much younger and I'm offended at the very suggestion. Both guilty of Hearts tendencies, however.

Workington AFC 2-2 Bamber Bridge, Northern Premier League Premier Division, 01/01/24 A right good game on my first trip to Workington. Got to be honest, the town itself is a shitehole. We had a good walk around and nipped into a local boozer before the game. Friendly enough folk, but I don't think I'll be rushing back to the town itself. The ground was good, and the magnificent feature of a house front door in the gents' toilets was excellent. Photographic evidence provided below. A really good game, too. Workington led at half time, but by the break the vistors had been coming more into the game. Both sides played some good stuff. Workington went 2-0 up in the second half with a swervy free-kick that was well hit, but I'd like to see it again to see if the keeper could have done more. However, Bamber Bridge then got back into it with a penalty, before equalising after a complete shambles at the back for Workington. The Bamber Bridge keeper had made a big save at 2-1, making up for any culpability for the second goal. We were then treated to a good end-to-end finish where either side could have won it, but a draw was probably fair. Great stuff.

Troon 0-2 Hurlford Utd, WoSFL Premier, 29/12/23 First trip to Troon for me, and a decent enough game with probably the right result. Hurlford United looked the better side and took the points with a goal in each half. There was a long stoppage in the second half for a serious-looking injury to a Troon player. Aside from obviously hoping the lad is ok, this was an issue as it was becoming very fucking cold as the evening progressed. Extra points for the proximity of the trains passing by up the touchline; an excellent feature of any football ground.

Saw Ross Taylor play a couple of times for Auchinleck last season. On both occasions he struck me as a complete arsehole, and from body language (and actual language) it seemed his Talbot teammates thought that too. That's me seen him play three times now. Confirmed arsehole. What an idiot. Not much in the game, really. Good news is Clyde will surely not be that weak again.

Went along to Dumbarton to see Clyde yesterday on my own as my dad isn't keeping well enough to go at the moment and my bother was working. I was responsible for the text updates throughout the game. For those who don't follow League Two, Clyde were 4-2 down after 90 minutes. When it went to 4-3 in injury time there was a wee glimmer of hope. When Clyde went forward again about a minute later, I had a wee feeling in my bones, and after big Logan's shot hit the net I found myself running along the row run down the stairs to celebrate, but knew I had to let my old man kow ASAP. One of those situations where a picture paints a thousand words rather than my usual "goooooooooaaaallll" text. Didn't need to stop and wonder if someone had a foot offside, or worry about it being pulled back for brushing someone's arm, or somebody spending a minute winding through it looking for a wee tug of a jersey. Just a fucking goal. A last minute comeback from 4-2 down. Fitba. f**k VAR.

Agree with all this. Really poor ref, and despite the goals being late, Clyde would have been really hard done by to get nothing.

South Shields 1-2 Peterbrough Sports - National League North - 16/12/23 National League North is the thing I hadn't realised was missing from my life. It's fucking amazing. Already been to Blyth and Darlington this season and made the trip to South Shields this weekend. Absolutely brilliant. Good wee stadiums with a decent atmosphere, not too pricey to get in (£14 for this one) and a passable pint on offer to be enjoyed while watching the game. Visitors went 2-0 up in the first half after two pieces of calamitous home defending, but South Shields got back into it in the second half and were unlucky not to get anything in the end. A really enjoyable game with the right amount of dig about it. Peterbrough Sports have a player called Gash. The ground is right next to a metro stop and only takes about 20 minutes to get to from Newcastle Central, only points off are that there isn't really a pub close by. A good walk in any direction as far as I could tell, and I ended up in a run-of-the-mill boozer some distance from the ground. It's great once you get into the ground though. Really friendly place too. Lost count of how many people I ended up chatting to. Looking forward to a few more of these this season, hopefully.

My family has been here since the early 80s and I'm 39. Played for the Dynamoes, went to two local schools, go to the local pubs all the time. Don't know a single person who says ken, and my school had the fermers. Maybe those from the wee villages down towards Ayrshire, etc, but it's definitely not normal. Sadly, the way the wind is blowing, I'd say Strathaven is likely to grow closer to Hamilton with the amount of building going that way. The Chapelton barrier should keep us from EK for a bit. Not sure which fate is worse.
