  1. There was a period where they were trying to play through midfield. Attempting a lot of one touch passing especially through Smith and Phillips. It wasn't always coming off but I could see what the plan was and at least looked like we'd see attempt to play at times anyway some football in an entertaining fashion. That seems to have gone completely out the window now. I get the stopping the playing out from goal kicks to Gordon and co as that wasn't working but it seems now gone completely the other way. It's now gone to "10 men behind the ball and let's counter" or when in maintained possession the plan seems to be let's just work it around the back for a few passes before lumping it down the line and playing for second balls. We played Hibs off the park attempting to play positively and we've just completed stopped doing what worked in our last home win! Our strongest area is the middle of the park when Phillips and Smith are fit and we're now just completely bypassing it. I know you can write that game plan off against Rangers but we treated Hearts like Barcelona and less said about the Motherwell performance the better. ----- As a side note, why does Gordon continually pass the ball square to McGowan when the pass just isn't on? All it does is invite the press as well play ourselves into a corner where McGowan only has one panicked passing option available every time. Although McGowan should have done better a couple of times it's just not the correct option in the first instance. It's just gifting possession away, potentially in a dangerous area.
  2. Been saying similar in the VAR thread. For the generation of the goal celebration being the best part of football, it's ruined it. Someone came back and suggested people are just using it as an excuse for not going to games I've cut down on the away games recently because of the enjoyment ruined by VAR. Really scunnered with it, love going to the football but can feel my favourite thing to do souring. I'd rather not bother anymore. Although today I've got less of an issue with VAR. More confused why the ref/linesman didn't give the first one live? Felt like yet again the referee didn't give and relied on VAR. That's equally an issue with VAR.
  3. Rangers fans crying about Cantwell treatment. I can't see past he deserved it. I've never seen a player greet and cry so much to the officials about EVERY free kick, goal kick and throw in we had. If you're a complete bitch towards your fellow professionals that's what will happen.
  4. A Scottish VAR first as well where you apparently don't need a stop in play either. Ref stopped the game today to go to the monitor?!
  5. What's happening to Max? I certainly wasn't his biggest fan prior but regressed even further. While he didn't have much time to involved today its like all he does it play the safe pass that he can see in the immediate eye line. He never looks up to play progressively at all, waste of shirt. Like I said a few weeks ago Garry Mcdonald
  6. What kind of role/position has he been playing? Off the right?
  7. That's my view on it as well. Couldn't give a shit about the correct decisions anymore. If it takes them as long as it does to work it out the technology is clearly not fit for purpose either. I'd much rather accept the ref has got stuff wrong against Saints now and again over the fact celebrating a goal is simply not the same anymore (those are the best moments of going to games).
  8. Additional added motivation for Rangers knowing they could go top and take the goal difference lead as well. Early goal tomorrow and I do worry for Saints. Not sure how I feel from Saints perspective. Not playing especially well but at times after least look organised, at times anyway. There's ways Saints could get at Rangers with the pace we now have but will we be able to get a hold of the ball? Levein showed Hearts far to much respect in terms of territory and time on the ball, I dread to think what will happen if the same is given to Rangers.
  9. I imagine it'll be the 5-4-1 accompanied with a similar game plan to the Hearts game at McDiarmid tomorrow If it's anything like the first 20 mins or so against Hearts it'll be a long afternoon. Hope they prove me wrong though!
  10. Yes. I went to every game. I now don't. It's shite and ruins it. It's ruined probably the last 3-4 games I've been to. Continually trying to find ANY reason to disallowed a goal. After every decision the fans in the ground didn't have a clue what either the pen was given for or the goal was disallowed. You had to wait until you got home to find out. I'm not travelling to Aberdeen on a Wednesday night and then paying £26+ to watch a solicitor stand for 3 mins with his finger over an ear piece 3 times a game. It's meant to be enjoyable and that nonsense has made it significantly less enjoyable Then the head of referee's has the cheek to come out and talk about how well it's doing.
  11. I can't possibly comment on what ability Hoilett has these days so no idea if it's a good or bad signing but the signing itself couldn't be more of a "Warnock" signing.
  12. Like RG has said. You can't rewrite history. He was fairly terrible for Saints. I do think though a lot to do with his performances had a lot to do with how the management at the time tried coaching, playing and man-managing him. He often looked completely lost on the pitch. Whatever they were doing, it wasn't working. I'm sure we've all got opinions on how he and other players were approached by MacLean and Davidson but I imagine there wasn't much softly softly going on when aiming to motivate him. I also thought when he did feature there was a lot of "you're big so be physical" and then launching direct long high balls at him when it was fairly evident that wasn't and still isn't what gets the best out of him (albeit he did indeed need to do better with the physical attributes he does possess). We'll probably never know the full details though. He's not all of a sudden a world beater either but as everyone knows, there's a way to get the best out of someone. We did not achieve that and credit to him for his fairly good season so far.
  13. Mental that's the content that BBC are producing. Content for clicks and any engagement masquerading as "journalism". That's the kind of content I'd expect from some dafty on YouTube doing it for attention or Halliday's mob or something.
  14. Just seen the press talking about Paul Hanlon leaving Hibs in the summer. Absolutely stinks of a Considine replacement!
  15. I wasn't really aware both teams got the extra sub. Although that does reduce the chance for any dodgy goings on to gain any advantages. DJ still seems very much the wrong choice though.
  16. Whether it's the right decision or not who knows but it's probably the best thing to do for his career. It's clear the kind of centre forward targeted by Levein and co isn't the Kane type. Would he have been a better option to keep than May? In my opinion yes but if there's no interest in May or if May has no interest in going anywhere then there may be no alternative but for Kane to move on to reduce the wage bill. As for the weekend. I still cannot understand why with 5+ mins to go NO striker was brought off the bench. The logic behind with a minute to go bringing on DJ to then launch high balls into the box makes very little sense either.
  17. I'm fed up of it all. That's probably the 10th similar situation I've watched in 5-6 games. The decisions at McDiarmid that both Hearts and Aberdeen got in their favour were horrendous as well. Blatant goal bound shot blocked with an arm ignored by VAR but they were quite happy to jump in and give Aberdeen two very very soft gifts. It's just honestly a shambles. I don't even care if the decisions are correct or not anymore. The enjoyment is already ruined. You're just waiting for the VAR to find something that wasn't there. It's just the VAR reofficiating the game with the referee bottling making decisions himself because he knows someone else will do it for him anyway. The referees have been given technology and shock horror have managed to become worse at their job. It's became the VAR show.
  18. Is there many of you who've stopped going so regularly or stopped completely due to VAR? I've honestly had enough of it. I'd go to every away game as well but I've pretty much stopped now unless it's a "proper day out". The days of just going for the football are done. I'd rather give it a miss than endure the VAR shambles. I think the most infuriating part of it is that the leadership in football including in Scotland insist it's fine and it barely makes any mistakes. That's just a lie. It's just constant questionable decisions. As for the experience of a match going fan, horrifically bad but again the paying punter is the least important as usual.
  19. Are folk taking the piss when they call that stonewall? If that's what it's coming to would just be another reason to add to the lengthy list for giving up going to football.
  20. Just another thing to add to the moan list. Carey's fucking corners. Jesus mannnnn.
  21. Keljins I think said he was injured. I'm probably more worried about the performances of a few. Aside from Smith the midfield were non existent. Wing backs on box sides offering zero forward threat. Our inability to stop ANY crosses into the box is horrendous as well. Olufunwa was getting absolutely rinsed. They doubled up in the wide areas simple one two and away yet we did absolutely nothing to try and counter act it. 2-1 was flattering IMO.
