Premier Elect: EOSL Premier Division 2022-23

Totally agree... one of our worst showings and properly battered on the day. By all means, deduct the points from Haddington if that's the rule... but awarding the game to Broxburn... nah! -
Last Day of Destiny: Saturday 27th May 2023

What a brilliant end to the season it turned out to be... meaningful games to the last match abd changing of champions, promotion and relegation as the afternoon went on! More of this, please! -
I'm sure it'll be a great game. I was planning to go along, but can't make it. Nothing against the College, but it would be nice to see West Calder get up. Really neat little setup they have now and looks to be plenty room to expand if progress/ambition requires it.

Dunipace played well... couple of cracking goals. Penicuik were dreadful at the back, very weak and slow looking. They were very off the pace... and a few too many late challenges saw them down to 10 men in 2nd half One of the Dunipace goals, the lad basically held off two defenders and whacked a shot high past keeper. Another goal, right winger won tackle, out paced a defender, out muscled another, cross to back post missed everyone a d tapped into empty net by striker standing all alone. I'll be generous and say Penicuik were allowing Dunipace through to next round to assist with their fundraising. But Dunipace were, at least on the day, much better.

2022-23 East Of Scotland (Qualifying) Cup
Jordi1977 replied to Yalay's topic in East of Scotland Football League
A worthy cup final! Uni were the better side in the first half and were comfortably 2-0 up at the break. Sauchie managed to work the ball wide lots and with pace, but delivery into the box was either poor, or no one in the centre to get on the end. Two cracking goals by the Uni and it looked like it would be an easy victory. 2nd half... and you can only wonder what the Sauchie manager said at the break... they dominated the half and were far better. An early goal give them hope, but the deserved equaliser didn't come until into injury time... again it was two cracking goals. Extra time was a more even affair, but it was Uni that scored again when a long throw was headed goalwards and the keeper could only push it against the post and watch it drop over the line... am sure he'll be pretty disappointed in his effort to keep it out. The officials were very weak and surely not the standard for a cup final. Bottled sending off a Sauchie player in the first half (and arguably in extra time). And all 2nd half took no action over Uni players time wasting and constantly stealing yards at throw-ins. Still enjoyed the game and 4 great goals and 2 really committed teams, Uni will be decent addition to next seasons City Cup. -
Congratulations Spartans! I managed to get along to this sell out match! For all the chat about Albion Rovers finishing bottom with a record points tally and being much better than previous bottom sides... today they were poor. Really poor. Spartans never really looked under much threat and were far superior in the middle of the park without actually playing all that well themselves. Spartans REALLY need a striker if they are to do anything in league 2 next season. In two matches against Rovers, Henderson has offered nothing (well, except a well struck penalty this afternoon). Other than that, they are a solid side and when the game opened up a bit with Rovers going for it, they opened them up 2 or 3 times and really got at them, especially down the left wing.... but all chances created were wasted. Armstrong, Wright and Tapping are all quality and easily League 2 standard from today's showing. For Rovers, Bevan was the stand out. Arguably best player on the park today and he certainly understood how big the game was. At 1-0 he was the only one driving at the Spartans defence and forced a tremendous save from Spartans keeper with a great effort from distance... the only real chance Rovers had. In the end, Spartans were better and deserved the win. But I think even all the Spartans fans felt for the one Rovers official who was going round the pitch all game and was in tears at the end. He'll be there next season and I hope someone got him a drink after the game.

Broxburn come out against the conference league. Delighted with their statement. https://www.broxburnathletic.co.uk/conference-league/ -
A decent and well contested final finished a 2-1 win for Lochore Welfare. Dunipace took the lead early in the 2nd half and looked slightly better side, but could not take any of their chances after that... thanks in part to the phenom of a keeper that Lochore have! A scuffed shot that crept in at the back post with 10 minutes to go made it 1-1 and then Dunipace looked panicked and Lochore took full advantage piling on some pressure and with 4 minutes left got the winner. Dunipace will be furious with themselves, better side for most of the game. But Lochore took the chances when they counted!

No argument with that! Spartans were basically front runners in setting up the pyramid as they have really wanted that place in L2 for some times... and yep, a lot thought they were hard done by in 2012 when a newly formed team jumped ahead of them... *cough* I don't mind Rovers either... but yes they should be relegated! And the HL/LL playoff should be a one-off neutral venue winner takes all match... maybe one day!

Was a pretty poor game yesterday, but a draw was about fair. Far too many high and long balls from Spartans that caused Rovers no issues. Spartans looked quite toothless up front, while Rovers did try to get forward with the ball on the deck, but mostly found a solid home defence in their way. Last 10 mins, Spartans got the ball down and looked more dangerous, but by then Rovers were sitting in... think they were content with the draw and confident to finish the job next week. A little nod to some of the Rovers fans behind the goal who clearly did a top job getting under the skin of some of the Spartans players...!

In fairness, yesterday wasn't much of a performance by eirher side! Rovers avoided defeat in the away leg... so if they can actually raise their game a bit, they must fancy next week with home advantage! Having said that... can't quite see Spartans being as poor as they were two weeks in a row either...

Really healthy crowd at this one... shows just how much interest there is in the game even when there is something to play for between two sides not exactly known for their sizeable crowds... Pretty poor game. Two sides that really didn't know how to play each other and a draw was maybe about right. Too many pointless high/long balls from Spartans that led to... nothing. Last 10 when they got the ball down they looked like they could cause some issues, but by then, Rovers mostly looked like they were defending the draw and are probably confident they can do the job next week. Absolute salute to the Spartans ultras who filled their wee part of the stand, drummed, bounced and sang all game.

Further proof that I may be a curse on the side since I couldn't get along and they romp to victory! From comments above, sounds like Crossgates were down to bare bones and assume we had a fairly solid 11 out... still, a nice result to end the season with!
