  1. OK I'm gonna stop youse right there with the "what-if-we-kept-Veldman?" fantasy Veldman failed not because he was given an allegedly weak and inexperienced team to manage but because he was a horrible manager and he lost the confidence of his players with his incompetence & non-sensical tactics. He refused to learn from his mistakes, could not stand criticism, and always blamed the players. He has been recently signed by a Belgian Second Tier team and is averaging 0.75 points per game (1 win and 3 losses in 4 games), almost exactly the same average with us. His appointment was and will forever be a terrible mistake regardless of the squad he was given, so please don't go down that road because it leads to a place where you'll find yourself walking the entire length of the Excelsior Stadium side by side with Will Tizzard and tears in your eyes on a dreich October night.
  2. I keep checking it every time I go to Hampden Park but I don't see any progress at all. If we stay up, we're 100% at big Hampden. If we go down, who knows? Personally, I dont think it's fit for even League 1 games in its current state. We can't host away crowds. We can barely fit our own regular home crowd in it!
  3. I'm aware the purpose of this thread is something different (i.e a fantasy team of Championship players) but for me the team of the season is Airdrie. As a Queen's Park fan, it really hurts me to say this but credit where credit is due. Winning the playoffs in League 1 last year and making it into the top four in the Championship this season is a massive achievement. I only wish we can beat them just for once in the last game of this season so that we can stay up.
  4. If we go down, I don't think we'll be able to keep half of our current team.
  5. Relegation would be a disaster. There's a massive difference between a Championship club and a League 1 club in terms of finances, wages, attendances, community engagement, club structure and of course, the players & non-playing staff. If we go down, we'll have to be a completely different club.
  6. A - We played our biggest game of the normal season against Inverness and threw in the towel. B - Fail to win and the only question that will be raised is who can we sign for his replacement in League 1? That doesn't mean he's a fraud but I really really hate managers who obsessively stick to a single formation regardless of the abilities of the players and call it their philosophy of play. I'm 99% sure we'll finish 9th and drop down to the playoffs now. I have no idea how in-form the League 1 teams in the playoffs will be but our trajectory is very depressing.
  7. Two years in a row. I still can't believe how we've managed to tie him down for another three years. Paton also made the team of the year. We seem to tick both boxes according to the Turkish football saying "you need a good catcher, and a good kicker" to succeed, but I guess the problem is what's in between the two
  8. It's not defeatism. I think we're just being somewhat pessimistically objective based on what we saw on the pitch in the last three matches. We didn't lose them due to bad luck, bad refereeing, or some other excuse. If we had lost them while playing well, I wouldn't be too worried about this one but the performances were abysmal.
  9. I completely disagree with this. I'm not used to this lack of transparency both on and off the pitch. This was released only moments ago by Beşiktaş: It's not fair to compare Queen's Park and Beşiktaş but this is basic communication. It's the kind of thing a club will/won't do rather than can/can't.
  10. I received a reply from the safety and security manager at the club. He says that the matter was discussed and resolved during the game, with instructions given to G4S. He also mentioned ongoing planning for this section of the stadium, with adjustments being made for future games this season and the next.
  11. The women's team won the title today after an amazing season. If the club don't let them play at Lesser next season (assuming the men's team will still be playing at big Hampden), there will be blood.
  12. I witnessed this too and I sent an email to the club. I suggest you do the same.
