  1. Remember the Dumbarton 0-1 Airdrie game in lockdown when we kept the ball in the corner flag for the last 8 minutes to waste time? Somehow I think this game is worse than that one.
  2. Yeah I mentioned him in the Airdrie thread earlier on, I think that's a very good signing for Arbroath, decent bit of business, even when he was briefly on loan at us I thought he looked decent. Edinburgh were decent last year especially against us!!
  3. I think with Innes Murray I don't think offering him a 6 month deal would do us any harm. We signed Dylan Easton from Kelty Hearts who were in the lowland league and he's playing for a team who are top of the Championship. Cammy Ballantyne played for Montrose and he's probably our best and most consistent defender. The alternative is signing another player on loan who could end up like another Josh O'Connor again, I understand the flip side to the argument as well as Gabby and Frizz have struggled this season with the step up. I'm just happy not to be in league 1 and happy to be in the 2nd tier.
  4. Agree with the post about Charlie Reilly being a very good loan signing if that was to happen. With Edinburgh City's financial problems another former player who I think would be a decent signing is Innes Murray. From his stats his goals and assists contribution is pretty good. Always liked him at Edinburgh and I think he'd be better than the options we have out wide. In comparison to the wide men we have he can actually put a decent ball into the box which is something we've been lacking. Probably seems unlikely he'll sign for us anyway but imagine he'll not be short of a few offers.
  5. If we are going down the 'Consilium Route' of signing players then Chris Donnell would be a shout. He's a 19 year old midfielder and from watching a few videos of him playing for Fulham U21 he looks a lot more physical than a lot of our current midfielders we have. From the highlights video I can see a lot of similarities to Justin Devenny. Downside he is Australian so let's just hope he's no Frankie Lagana or a Big Byrd 2.0.
  6. Well tbh you've completely got an agenda against one player in particular and I'm just pointing it out. There's one thing criticising the boy but calling him an 'Imposter' is way over the top. He's a defensive midfielder and his job is to win the ball back and play short passes to the more creative players within our team. I don't think Dean McMaster is the biggest problem that we've got within the squad, it's our lack of creativity going forward and our poor ability to finish and create chances in the final 3rd, surely that's something we can all agree on eh?
  7. That was pretty much a carbon copy of the Inverness away game in which we had a lot of the ball but didn't really create too much and concede a ridiculously soft goal from a set piece. If the budget is there, I definitely think we need a couple of loans in January, the quality that we have in the final 3rd is not there at all. Callum Smith or even LJ from last season would walk into this starting 11. Despite our poor run and lack of goals I do believe the team can turn it round, we aren't too far away and we are definitely competitve in almost every game. The Championship is a mad league in which a couple of wins can get you right up the table as seen with Morton, I do agree with the comments that we need at least 4 points in the next two games. I think 8th place is still the aim and would be a great achievement if we managed to stay up considering it's our first season back in the 2nd tier and we have the lowest budget and 2nd lowest average attendance. I don't agree with the comments calling McMaster an 'imposter' when he certainly wasn't the worst player on the park today, comments like that are just reactionary nonsense IMO.
  8. 1. Boygenius - Watched them do a cover of The Chicks 'Cowboy Take Me Away' and they were very good. Seen them at Connect Festival this year and they were excellent. True Blue, Emily I'm Sorry and Salt in the wound are my favourites. 2. Corella - They always popped up in Spotify recommend and went along to King Tuts to go and see them. They only have a bunch of EP's so here's hoping they manage to release an album soon. 3. Spanish Love Songs - Enjoyed their cover of 'Smile Like You Mean It' and decided to check them out. No Joy is a great album and one of my favourites this year, Lifers and Marvel are excellent. 4. Holly Humberstone - Not the type of music I would normally listen to but she has an amazing voice and a lot of her songs are very catchy. I like some of her songs from 'Paint My Bedroom Black' my favourites are 'The Walls are way too thin' and 'Friendly Fire' which aren't on the album. 5. Idlewild - Feel like I've been living under a rock a bit with this band, completely went under the radar for me and i can't believe it had only taken me until 2023 to discover them, 'The Remote Part' is a superb album. 'American English' and 'Life in a hiding place' are two regular tunes on my playlists.
  9. That statement is horrendous. 'Paul Nuijten will lead the Men's First Team for our cinch Championship games, starting against Greenock Morton on Saturday.' The word 'games' implies he'll be in charge for more than one but is he permanent or is he now officially the new manager? Queens Park are a complete shambles just now on and off the park at the moment, I'd be livid if my team released a statement that poor.
  10. You'd think we were sitting bottom on 2 points with the way you're talking. We've got a home game vs Dunfermline on Saturday and if we win that we'll be sitting in the promotion play offs. With our 'League 1' strike force we've beaten more than 50% of the teams in the championship. I'm not sure if you're trying to start a debate for the sake of it but you're talking absolute nonsense.
  11. Mad to think that Gal is still under appreciated/under rated amongst some of our fanbase, with our budget we'll not sign a better striker than him. Another player I think who's been under appreciated a bit is Lewis McGregor. For someone who wasn't our first choice winger in league 1, he's got 3 goals and 1 assist in 13 games this season and one of them was coming on as a sub. He's only 19 and although he can be frustrating at times with his final ball/decision making, there is still room for him to improve and be a massive player for us, we did miss him on Saturday.
  12. Agreed with a lot of the posts earlier, I think we looked a lot more solid in a back 5 compared to a back 4. I felt that the first half was very similar to the Inverness away performance, a lack of urgency and just slowly knocking the ball about side to side at the back. The first goal for me was far too soft, I think we lose far too many goals from crosses into the back post. As poor as the first half was, I was happy with the reaction in the second half, we take a lot of risks playing it out from the back but I'd like to see us less risk adverse going forward, the 2nd goal came from Gal not pulling the trigger when he had space to take a shot from the 18 yard line. That being said it was a game I expected us to lose today and with our next games against Dunfermline, Ayr, Morton and Queens Park it's a chance to get some points on the board.
  13. I've never actually been to Fir Park before so would really love to get Motherwell away in the cup and tick off a new stadium. That or a home tie, I can't actually remember the last time we got a Scottish Cup tie at home. Knowing our luck it'll probably be another trip to Cappielow.
  14. Not what I expected to read on twitter today, even although it's from a satire account, with the amount of mental games we've had over recent seasons, I don't think this would actually surprise me if it did happen.
  15. That interview reminded me of the one that John Hughes done for Raith Rovers years ago where he rambled on about how 'some footballers today don't care'. I can't see anyway back for him after that but I don't see the sense in the club pointing a camera at him and making him do a 15 minute long interview when emotions are running high and he's likely to say things he really shouldn't.
  16. Agree with @Kenny_m about O'Connor, he was brushed off the ball very easily, didn't make much of an impact on the game and is a massive downgrade from McStravick. Thought Ballantyne was easily MOTM today excellent defensively and going forward.
  17. Embrace at the O2 Academy Glasgow tonight. Brilliant performance and for them to play all of 'The Good Will Out' was pretty special. Only disappointment was they didn't play 'Nature's Law' which is one of my favourite Embrace songs.
  18. That was a massive win today especially with Abroath having a couple of games in hand. Pleased with the clean sheet, defence were solid and the new formation is working really well. I thought Bird and Hylton looked like decent players for Arbroath and their pace could've caused us problems but didn't feel they really created anything. I was surprised at how comfortable I felt during the game, expected it to be a lot tighter. Up to 4th in the league and a 9 point gap over 10th can't ask for much more than that.
  19. Watched the goals back from the game last night, 4 very good finishes which included a trademark free kick from the gaffer. Delighted for Gabby, you can tell when he got his goals that it was a massive weight off his shoulders. From the highlights it looks encouraging to see that O'Connor had a lot to play in them too, hopefully both Josh and Gabby can start to kick on now starting from this Saturday.
  20. Even against Rangers B team McCabe still doesn't trust Davie Hutton enough to play him in this game
  21. I thought the performance tonight was much better than the Inverness game, we battled well, were a bit more direct and took a bit more risks going forward. The disappointing thing was the two goals that we conceded were soft and completely avoidable, it's comical at times the amount of soft goals we concede at our own doing. I think what we also need to learn is that when we are playing out from the back, teams are not going to press us, I'm not saying to lump it up the park but instead of the slow passing it around from the back, play with a bit more urgency, move the ball quicker and get up the pitch. The positives I can take from tonight were that I thought for 20 minutes towards the end of the second half we were the better side and were unlucky not to score, that was the best I've seen us in weeks. I saw McCabe's Dad at the Inverness game so I don't think he's in a box but I do think some of the shouts are way over the top from some of our supporters. The Raith fan who posted on here is 100% spot on, 90% of Championship supporters had us down on their predictions to either be cannon fodder or finish 10th. We've shown that we can be competitive in this league and if we stay up finishing 8th or above that'll be a successful season.
  22. I think what we've learned from the Inverness game is with the players we have, 433 is by far our best system. Gallagher and Todorov didn't work up front yesterday as a partnership and I think either one or the other have to start through the middle. I can understand why McCabe made some changes to the team especially with Dundee United at home on Tuesday. I think McStravick will come onto a game this season there definitely is a player there, I think his best positions are either as a number 10 (in Frizzell's position) or out wide, the best I've seen him was the Dundee United away game where he played as a 10. One of either Aiken or McMaster have to start in midfield as I felt in the first half we lacked a ball winner in there, I felt Telfer done fine yesterday but I think he's made a scapegoat by some of the supporters in the crowd yesterday at times. I genuinely don't think we are too far off, we play some really nice football at times but it's the poor decision making in the final 3rd that is letting us down, hopefully it'll start to click soon. We have had some good performances against the likes of Thistle and Raith who will both be up there towards the end of the season. The league is quite unpredictable, there's not much between the teams and on their day anyone can beat anyone, I think we need to just hope to get on a decent run and that way you'll find yourself looking up the table. The last few performances haven't been great but I'm not feeling overly negative about things.
  23. We were pretty dreadful all of the first half and it didn't take until the second half for the team to start to show any urgency. For all of our nice possession football we play, we are really poor in the final third, it's either bad decision making or a lack of an end product. I felt the foul on Frizzell in the second half was a blatant penalty, I'm not sure how the ref or linesman missed that one, but for me that was a shocker. No complaints for the result I felt Caley deserved to win today, I'm not sure how they missed near enough an open goal towards the end of the first half to make it 2-0. Staying overnight which means I don't have to drive back the long journey until tomorrow morning, at least that's a positive to take as well as remaining 4th in the table.
  24. I've no clue if that's a 433 or a diamond but I guess I'll find out once the game starts!
  25. The match preview said that he's been monitored but it looks like him and ATS will likely not make it. Can actually see McCabe make a few changes to the line up as I think he'll be conscious of the game on Tuesday night as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see Telfer and Todorov get a start.
