It's halfway through March, who else could we have realistically signed just now as an emergency signing/back up goalie to Josh Rae? I know nothing about the boy and its obviously not great that he hasn't played football in over a year, but let's see what he's like.

Think that's a good shout for Saturday, but believe it or not he's already played once in the Challenge Cup this season for Rangers B against Spartans. Scenes if we have Hutts or Prunty Junior in goals for the Cup final.

Would imagine we'll get another keeper in as even during the play off semi final and with a 6-2 lead, McCabe didn't trust Hutton enough even for the second leg. I wouldn't be against swapping Gallagher for Donnell and playing McStravick in a more advanced position in behind Todorov, still doesn't solve our mobility problems, but that sounds slightly more mobile than a Gal/Toddy front two.

I'm sure he played for Hibs B in one of the earlier rounds which would make him ineligible to play in the cup final, with Josh Clarke out on loan at Ayr I genuinely have no idea who could come in on an emergency.

Just a pity that Dean Lyness is currently Hamilton's first choice, he would've been the perfect emergency keeper for the run in.

Pars vs Airdrie, Tuesday 5th March
David Fernández replied to DA Baracus's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
I think with Dunfermline having players recovering from injury and starting to hit a bit of form I'd be more than delighted with a point from this one. If we are able to take 4/6 points from our games in hand I think that'll put us in a much better position to be able to stay up. However it is the Cinch and literally anything can happen (apart from us drawing 1-1 with Queens Park). No one expected us to win up at Tannadice on Tuesday and no one expected Arbroath to come from 2-0 down to beat Raith on Friday. If Josh Rae could avoid having a brain fart in this fixture that would be great as I really don't fancy an almost 40 year old Davie Hutton or an emergency keeper in goals for an important run in of fixtures. That's 6 without a win against Dunfermline and surely we are due a win at some point. -

Airdrie v Spiders
David Fernández replied to The red diamond's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
After our high of winning at Tannadice for the first time in 1995, and Queens Park's 6-0 demolition of Arbroath, both sets of supporters will be brought back down to earth again with another 1-1 draw that's going to be even worse than the last hundred 1-1 draws. -
Here, how good was the build up for Gabby's goal?, that was just pure filth!!! looking forward to watching it back. Massive and unexpected 3 points tonight, every player was superb, hoping Mason's injury isn't too serious, that's the only negative but sets up the game against Queens Park on Saturday nicely. Last time Airdrie won away to Dundee United was the year before I was born so a first in my lifetime. This league is absolutely bonkers, losing 4-0 to Arbroath and winning 2-0 at Tannadice. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!! It's going to be a roller coaster that's the only guarantee!!

Dundee United 23/24
David Fernández replied to MeadowArab's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Any United fans know if they'll be a stream for the game tonight? -
I think the main points that we've learned from the game are that; Aaron Lyall needs to start, I thought he was excellent when he came on. McCabe is good at centre back but only when Dycey is playing next to him. Watson is far better as a right back and is a complete bombscare at centre back. Lewis McGregor is a better player playing his new role in a front two. If Dycey is out for a longer period of time I'd probably look to switching Hancock to centre half to play along side McCabe, I don't think Watson and McCabe work playing there together. I'd put Ballantyne at left back and Watson at right back. I agree with most of the posts above, I don't think we played badly at all but you can't be gifting teams 3 goals, not just at this level but at any level. On a positive note there's only one more game left vs Ayr and only one more binfire of a match thread left this season.

That's the Airdrie end sold out now!

Having worked in customer service for years nothing about the general public amazes me so I'm not surprised to read about folk moaning about having to move 10 seats along or not being able to park in their usual spot etc. As for the complaints about 'glory hunters', we should be encouraging more folk to come to the games, not drive them away, I took my friend who's a Rangers fan to the Inverness game last month and he was impressed with Airdrie, even more so that he's coming along to hospitality with me to the Arbroath game next month. I've never seen Airdrie play Hearts at home before so I'm excited and really looking forward to the occasion, hopefully a cracking support and atmosphere. I've seen Airdrie win the challenge Cup twice but it would be amazing for the younger fans to see Airdrie win a trophy and that would be something they would remember forever, and hopefully have them keep coming back. I'd honestly take the comments on FB or other forms of social media with a pinch of salt, folk just like a moan about anything.

Think POTY and YPOTY are very difficult to call this year, for POTY I'm crossed between McCabe and Telfer. For YPOTY if Megwa is eligible for the vote I'd vote for him despite being back at Hibs or for Mason Hancock. I don't think I would be disappointed seeing anyone win it as there's been loads of stand outs and consistent performers this season, Janny, Dycey, Rae and Aiken, you could make a case for all of them.

Delighted with that draw, hard game but definitely winnable. Noticed Hearts are playing St Johnstone on 7th February so seems likely that the game will either be played on a Saturday or Sunday and I'd imagine it will be televised. If Hibs can give us Megwa on a one game emergency loan that would be great too.

This is the best Airdrie team I've seen in my lifetime supporting Airdrie. I'd argue that this team are better than the one we had where we finished 5th in the championship in 2005 and that Rhys McCabe is the best Airdrie manager since the 2002 era. We can all talk about what we want in the draw etc but we completely played a team off the park in a higher division, who's manager previously managed the national team. What a difference in how everyone was feeling on the 30th December at half time during the Queens Park game to just now!!

Kelty Hearts Thread
David Fernández replied to leomessi1984's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
That's a great signing for Kelty . He was very good when he was on loan with us a couple of seasons ago. He wasn't tested too much defensively as we went on a 20 odd game unbeaten run but he definitely played a part in that. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on and I hope he does well. -
Wouldn't surprise me if McStravick is attracting interest from other teams. His two best games were his debut away to Dundee United and away to Thistle. He stood out in both of those games and for being 18 at the time he didn't look out of place against two of the best teams in the league. He's a very talented player and I'm sure he'll go on to have a decent career. I'm not sure how long a contract he's on with us but assuming it's a multi year deal, a team would need to offer a decent amount for him, possibly more than the Devenny transfer. Also with Megwa doing as well as he did with us, we'll be one of the best teams to loan players out to as we have a manager who gives youth a chance and has a proven track record now for developing young players.

I know this has probably been mentioned already but it really winds me up when they say 'he/she is 100% faithful'. Like how do you know? anyone can be a traitor. Andrew and Charlotte are the worst for it this year. They are completely taken in by Paul.

Mason Hancock is quickly becoming my favourite player this season, would love to see him tied down on a longer term contract. Tremendous performance along with the rest of the team. Some difference a week makes eh?

I seen on Instagram that Flynn Duffy has joined consilium. Don't know too much about him but according to transfermarkt he can play both left-back and right back. He doesn't look like he can break into the Dundee United team as he's only played once for them this season but he fits the profile of a player that we would be interested in.
