Did McCabe play further forward in midfield when he was at Queens or a defensive mid? I could imagine him being pretty anonymous further forward but when he plays as a deep lying midfielder for us he's the one the dictates and controls the game.

Not sure if it's been discussed on here or not, but that miss hit when Alegria was through on goal was one of the funniest things I've seen in my life [emoji23]. Enjoy your night bairns [emoji106] -
Airdrieonians vs Falkirk - 06/08/22

Can see this being a lot closer than our previous encounters. Looking at Falkirk's defensive record, you've only conceded 1 goal in the league Cup games and an impressive win against Hibs. Think you've got a good manager in McGlynn and he'll definitely make you hard to beat, especially in the early days. Some of your posters on your forum writing off your season after one 0-0 draw against Montrose is wild IMO. I'd definitely be feeling a lot more confident if we got a couple of bodies in this week, if we score early and put in a similar performance to the St Mirren game, I think we will be comfortable winners, however, the longer the game goes on, and if our dreadful finishing hasn't improved, Falkirk may sneak it 1-0 from a set piece. Have Airdrie ever beat a team with McGlynn in charge? Our record against Raith Rovers was dreadful. Saturday is such a great chance to already go 5 points above potential promotion rivals already. Our slow start last season cost us, good that McCabe has highlighted the importance of a good start to the season. -
I think we might line up 343 with McCabe dropping to centre back, only different for me is I dont think Gabby should be dropped, especially with his 3 assists in 4 games. I'm a massive fan of Callum Smith, but in the league Cup games his finishing has been atrocious and don't think he's been good enough, I'd drop him for Jamieson.

Ah get you now, my fault for misreading that, I liked him with us, scored some important goals and has a belter of a long throw too. He was wasted at East Fife last season. Said on the Airdrie thread last night, players like Euan Henderson, Connor Smith and Scott McGill are wasted in the Lowland League.

https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/robbie-neilson-hearts-goalkeeping-situation-24603391 This article will probably explain why Hearts haven't really sent out many of their players on loan. Luca Connell (if that's who you mean), signed for Barnsley I'm sure. We signed Ben Wylie on loan from Celtic who looks pretty good from some of the highlight videos. Mochrie is linked with Dunfermline I believe but someone like Owen Moffat or Declan Glass would be a great loan signing for you.

Wouldn't really be fair on the development of guys like Euan Henderson and Connor Smith to be scoring bucketloads against the likes of Open Goal and Civil Service Strollers instead of being tested at a higher level. I'd assume they'd maybe be on the bench at Hearts but their game time would be few and far between, I do think McGill needs to go on loan again don't think he's quite ready to push for a starting 11 at Hearts.

Callum Smith's brother scored a hat trick for the B team. Connor Smith would be a cracking signing but I'd imagine he'd either go to a championship team, or push to get in the first team at Hearts. Scott McGill's been discussed on here before, didn't see his name on the list for the B team game so might be injured.
