  1. Calum Gallagher has given us some unbelievable memories. The last minute goal vs Falkirk. The equaliser in the 6-4 game vs Montrose. The worldie vs Kelty Hearts. Player of the season last year. As much as it's the right decision that he's moving onto Arbroath, it's still gutting to be losing such a modern day club legend and such a great guy, as I said on the Arbroath thread, wish him nothing but the best, and hope we give him a massive send off that he deserves, unbelievable servant.
  2. Calum Gallagher's as good a striker as anyone could get in League 1. One of my favourite Airdrie players in recent seasons and I hope he does well for you guys. He's struggled at Championship level this year but IMO he's probably the best part time striker in the country. Not only that, he's a great guy too, wish him nothing but the best and hope we can give him the send off that he deserves, in the last 4/5 seasons, a club legend.
  3. I doubt anyone during pre season would've predicted Dean McMaster and Gavin Gallagher scoring the goals that all but secures our place in the play offs with 3 games to go, and to have a fighting chance of reaching the Premier league.
  4. They had the Ayr fans behind the goals on their last home visit, wasn't sure if it was a one off, but seems to be a new thing that larger away attendances will be behind the goals.
  5. Running out of positive things to describe this Airdrie team!! We play some excellent football but what impressed me more than anything was our work rate off the ball, everytime Raith had Easton or Connelly on the ball there was at least 2/3 players closing them down, it was just a joy to watch. In the first half especially we played a very good Raith team off the park. I've went from the start of the season feeling cautiously optimistic about our chances of surviving in the championship to literally fearing no team and just seeing what happens. Hopefully see a big turn out for Saturday as it's a massive game. (Although if we can rearrange the game to be played on a Tuesday night that would be great too).
  6. Some of the football in the first half was some of the best we have played all season, especially with the conditions today. Charlie Telfer strolled the midfield, probably his best game in an Airdrie shirt and I'm delighted he got a goal today, probably unlucky not to get man of the match too. Feels like we are also starting to peak at the right time, which was similar to last season, if we are able to make a push to get into the play offs, then who knows. I didn't think Morton's hammer throwing tactics were that bad in our other games this season, but I know what fans of other teams were meaning about them now, genuinely embarrassing at times. Onto Tuesday now to see if we can continue to be Raith's bogey team.
  7. Future Islands 'People Who Aren't There Anymore' is a great listen. Early contender for album of the year for me.
  8. Stream was lagging behind there, just seen the deflected free kick how embarrassing, just excited about the win and think we'll stay up now
  9. Had a quick look at the consilium list on transfermarkt and noticed that Gabby McGill has changed agencies to 'CAA Base'. Wonder if this will be his last season in a diamond. It's been a big step up for him and his injuries haven't helped but felt that McGill and Todorov were forming an great partnership up front together. His goal at Hamilton was probably the most important goal Airdrie have scored in the last decade and at points last season in league 1 he was unplayable. Maybe I'm reading too much into things but I'd be sorry to see him go as he's been here the past 3 seasons and seems like a really likeable guy. Recruitment will be interesting next season, agree that Aiken will probably be back here next season, Chris Mochrie is a shoe-in to sign for us and perhaps Ben Wilson?
  10. I'd love us to finish as high up the table as possible but I think with us being in the play offs the last few seasons, we're always the last team to announce contract extensions or signings due to us not knowing what league we'll be in. I understand reaching the play offs and with the gate money etc it could help us cover another decent player, but I think it would be nice to be going into next season a bit more prepared than in previous seasons. That and I genuinely need a break from the stress of the play offs .
  11. Agree with the comments above, I think one more win will be enough to see us survive in the league this season, I know the Championship is completely bonkers, but I think having a 10 point gap over Inverness with them only having 5 games left should be more than enough (hopefully get a win on Tuesday night). Reaching the promotion play offs would be great, but I'm honestly not too fussed if we don't either, our budget will also be significantly bigger than this season considering we are working with pretty much a league 1 budget. If you offered me survival in the championship, a decent cup run and winning a trophy at the start of the season I'd have bitten your hand off for that.
  12. Congratulations Falkirk!!! We know what it's like too to be in League 1 for ages and it's an amazing feeling to finally get out!! League 1 certainly isn't as easy a league as others make out so to win it at such a canter is very impressive. Enjoy your night guys!
  13. That second half was absolutely terrible, it was as if we were still hungover from the cup celebrations. That being said at least there's a game on Tuesday to try and make us forget about this. Also Deano is a very lucky boy, that was a straight red card. On a positive note, there's no more terrible Ayr vs Airdrie/Red Diamond threads anymore! Every cloud and all that eh!
  14. Flicking through the international scores tonight and noticed that Justin Devenny got an assist for Northern Ireland U21s tonight away to Serbia.
  15. What a season this has been so far!! Throughly enjoyable day out in Falkirk again (don't think I've ever been to a game and seen Airdrie lose at that stadium before). I was impressed by TNS, they looked a really good team, passed it on the deck and had a few really good players. I don't think we were at our best, especially in the second half, but we dug out the win and felt we deserved it in the end. Was good chatting to @airdriemanbriefly in 'The Wheatsheaf', cracking wee pub and the owner chatted away to us the whole time too. Hope everyone had a great day out and enjoyed the celebrations!!!
  16. From having watched your videos at the start, it's amazing how much they have improved and developed. Particularly enjoyed seeing all of the fans celebrating in the camera roll. Let's hope we win the cup tomorrow and have a fantastic day out, the effort that the players have put in over the last few seasons they absolutely deserve to be celebrating winning a trophy!!
  17. I'd probably agree with that lineup except I can see Donnell getting a chance in the starting 11. If he's starting McMaster, I can't see him starting Gav Gal at the same time. Would like to see more of Donnell, he look decent coming on against Raith in the Semi.
  18. It's halfway through March, who else could we have realistically signed just now as an emergency signing/back up goalie to Josh Rae? I know nothing about the boy and its obviously not great that he hasn't played football in over a year, but let's see what he's like.
  19. Think that's a good shout for Saturday, but believe it or not he's already played once in the Challenge Cup this season for Rangers B against Spartans. Scenes if we have Hutts or Prunty Junior in goals for the Cup final.
  20. Would imagine we'll get another keeper in as even during the play off semi final and with a 6-2 lead, McCabe didn't trust Hutton enough even for the second leg. I wouldn't be against swapping Gallagher for Donnell and playing McStravick in a more advanced position in behind Todorov, still doesn't solve our mobility problems, but that sounds slightly more mobile than a Gal/Toddy front two.
  21. I'm sure he played for Hibs B in one of the earlier rounds which would make him ineligible to play in the cup final, with Josh Clarke out on loan at Ayr I genuinely have no idea who could come in on an emergency.
  22. Just a pity that Dean Lyness is currently Hamilton's first choice, he would've been the perfect emergency keeper for the run in.
  23. I think with Dunfermline having players recovering from injury and starting to hit a bit of form I'd be more than delighted with a point from this one. If we are able to take 4/6 points from our games in hand I think that'll put us in a much better position to be able to stay up. However it is the Cinch and literally anything can happen (apart from us drawing 1-1 with Queens Park). No one expected us to win up at Tannadice on Tuesday and no one expected Arbroath to come from 2-0 down to beat Raith on Friday. If Josh Rae could avoid having a brain fart in this fixture that would be great as I really don't fancy an almost 40 year old Davie Hutton or an emergency keeper in goals for an important run in of fixtures. That's 6 without a win against Dunfermline and surely we are due a win at some point.
