The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread
Kempes replied to djchapsticks's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Fair play to the young man for giving it a go at Alloa and, clearly, showing he can thrive against seasoned professionals. He certainly showed promise in the games he played for us, so here’s hoping he can make a good career for himself. It would be great to see him flourish with the Saints, but not much we can do to compete with the silly money clubs down south. (I mean south of the border, not Killie) -

Obviously Dundee will be raging if they have to visit Paisley for a third time but, with their pitch problems they can’t complain too much. As the man said, it might have to get played here anyway. -
I travelled home and away to support Clyde from as long ago as I can remember (mid 60’s), until 31st March 2017. I can recall even travelling to Shawfield on the bus from Easterhouse, on my own, in the depths of winter to see them lose to the likes of (with respect) Stranraer and Brechin. As you will gather, it has never been about which division they happen to be in. Good luck for the rest of the season and with recruiting more board members with the integrity that has been sadly lacking in recent times.

Let’s just say it is a big step in the right direction. I have always had a lot of time, and respect, for Allan Maitland. He’d be an excellent choice as chairman, if he is interested.

Greenie for your comments, and for spelling Allan correctly.

Probably the main reason Cormack thinks he’s the man for the job. -
Interesting Allan Maitland interview on the Clyde website. He positively name checked at least six folk at the club, but no mention of the chairman. Seems strange as he must at least have a working relationship with him. Any word of who the next chairman will be?

Must be that Killie pie. Think our players ate some at halftime too… -

Wonder if this is an omen. Mandron off to Man City next? Can imagine the scenes in Motherwell -
On the evidence of last night, it’s hard to see how that squad has won so many games this season. To me, it has never looked strong enough to scoosh the Championship. Goodwin seemed to be doing a decent enough job keeping them top of the league, but when Raith strengthened in January their squad looked as if it would be a match for United’s. Add in that Murray looks a better manager and Ogren’s promise of immediate promotion is looking a bit naive.

I appreciate that this resignation is official, but where was it announced? No sign of it on the club website? All very strange, but no surprise there.

Considering our performance at Dens, they must have been really bad. Thank goodness that was a one-off due to a sickness bug in the Saints squad. -

I noticed that too. Have you changed your mind on Miovski now? -

Good to see that big Jon Obika’s return has made such a difference to the Well’s recent results. -

Just shows what a strong, united squad Robbo has put together. For all that folk keep saying that Aberdeen have a good squad, I wouldn’t swap any of our guys for theirs, Miovski included. -

Great tactics from Warnock. Go one up in the first minute with a wonder strike, then defend for the rest of the game, including taking both the wingers off. And that time wasting worked out well, eh? By the way, how come Miovski wasn’t playing? -

I’m thinking Brendan was probably in a better mood after that game compared to the game at Motherwell. -

Now that Derek Adams has resigned, I am pretty sure that there is not another manager in the league who would not have started Halliday last night. Halliday is not exactly popular, but he’s just what you want in a cup tie like that. SK got that badly wrong…and let’s not even talk about Liam. -

Not heard from Numbers since Adams chucked it… Wait, surely Derek has been far too busy criticising his players to create a phoney account on P & B… -
Sad that wee Tony just resorted to the poor pitch excuse, as did Clement. Wee bit disappointed with that response as he’s usually quite fair with his take on the games. If he watches the game back he’ll see that the Saints actually played some good football. Doc has done quite well so far, but he must be well aware his team was very much second best last night. It could have been six or seven, as we missed some very good chances. McCowan and Beck are decent but I’m not even sure that they would get in our team.
