St Mirren v Hibs 08/11/23
SS77 replied to Lola montez's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I said on Twitter I was delighted to be wrong on that one mate! Hemming’s been great and credit to him for putting a few shockers last season behind him. I thought his save from Campbell after the dodgy pass from Gogic was one of his best yet -

Carson is a great keeper and arguably one of the best in the league IMO. I wasn’t sold on Hemming at all but he’s shut me up completely since the start of the season. -

Referees don’t have an issue with St Mirren, they just aren’t good at their job and every team suffers because of it. I do think that referees are more likely to give decisions in favour of the Old Firm purely because of the reactions of their crowds though. -

Robinson has said it himself that finishing 3rd at Motherwell didn’t open the doors he thought it would down south so I can see why a move to Hibs would interest him. I don’t think good clubs in England really care about what happens manager wise outside the top 5 teams in our league, it’s just the way they (wrongly) look down on our game. I think Alex Neil was different - he was a 33 year old guy on a proper shoestring budget and I’m sure he had Accies in serious contention for 3rd place when he left -

We fell off a cliff massively when Jack Ross left - we nearly ended up relegated after a year. The board got it right with Robinson’s appointment but literally everything at the club has been set up for him to succeed - that all goes if he takes the Hibs job. -

If anyone in any job gets offered the chance to double or triple their salary then they would be off like a shot. Let’s not be daft here, if he’s offered the job then he’ll be away. I’ll be gutted if he goes and to be honest I think we’ll fall off a cliff without him in charge but fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that. -

I canny believe we need to revisit this every single time a transfer happens. No football club in the world discloses transfers fees and certainly not because fans think they deserve to know how much players have been sold for. -

Pete O’Rourke is always bang on. He worked for Sky Sports for years and looks to be the main guy at his new place. -

I’ve said before I don’t think that Baccus has any outstanding trait that would make teams want to pay big money for him - he’s a great box to box midfielder in our system and hopefully we’d be able to replace him like for like. -

Aberdeen made a fortune of selling players like McKenna, Ferguson etc that are far better than Baccus. -
Playing on a plastic pitch shouldn’t be an issue for teams in the Premiership IMO. Every team trains on astro in the lead up to games v Killie and Livi so they’ve got plenty time to adjust to the way the ball moves around on the pitch. I’d take a point in this one. Livi are a good side and 8 points from our first 4 league games would be a tremendous start to the season.

We were a good bit off winning the league at that point. I can remember us being in a good mood that week because Jack Ross was knocked back for the Barnsley job which kept him in Paisley for the next few months. We won the league after a 0-0 draw at home to Livi in April though - arguably the worst game of football I’ve ever seen but one of the best days I’ve had as a supporter.
-
3-1 we won that day. Gary Irvine got sent off for a shocker of a tackle on a Livi winger.

They are there on merit. Regardless of how much money they’ve spent to get there they’ve established themselves in the top flight and fair play to them. -

Point 1 is fine and I understand the travel aspect. County give the Highlands representation in the top flight and I think for the sake of developing and promoting the game all over the country that’s a good thing. The boost to the coffers from Partick fans is fine but when every other central belt team would get the same boost it’s hardly going to give us a competitive advantage. -

Livi and Ross County are here on merit so fair play to them. I’ve never understood why fans of other teams get so upset at teams with smaller supports. The last thing I care about when I go to a game is how many fans the opposition have brought but maybe that’s just me. -

The red one in 2016/17 was a third kit. I still have mine purely because I worked in JD at the time and we got a handful in store to put out on sale. I made sure I grabbed one because I seen us wear it away at Dundee in the 2-0 cup win at Dens and really liked it! -

The rumour is that him and Robinson fell out over him not playing that game. He flew his family over from Belfast to watch him and he was benched for Urminsky which didn’t go down too well. It apparently came from that but there has to be more to it than folk are suggesting. He’s a tremendous keeper, I’m gutted to see him go.
