I assume you know the plan is to demolish it, and that Valencia have a half-built shell of a ground that's been mouldering away for 15 years which they intend to complete? World Cup candidacy put the wind back into the sails of the project but Peter Lim doesn't appear to be rich enough to get it done.

Thank you for that piece of info I had no idea. Doing the tour tomorrow so will probably learn more about it then.

Good read there and a difficult situation. Can see why obviously the local government would love to host the World Cup but I just have to side with the traditional ground.

Lim is a complete dick though and that was clear with the amount of ‘Lim Go Home’ flags and banners that were held up at the first goal. A lesson on owners for any football association that probably won’t be heeded.

  2. València 1-2 Real Betis

Second LaLiga game for me and a far better atmosphere than the Camp Nou last season. Valencia’s singing section behind the goals providing a lot of noise for the 90.

As a self proclaimed Bético, I was very happy to see them win a crucial game in the race for Europe. Isco and Ayoze Pérez absolutely strolled the game against a young Valencia side who have punched above their weight this season. Couple of dubious decisions regarding a disallowed Betis goal and the Valencia penalty which I thought were harsh.

The Mestalla is an unbelievable ground though and a blueprint for how a football stadium should be. Built right into tight city streets with very steep sides that are close to the pitch.

  3. We are safe and have been imo for a good few weeks, and I say this from a naturally negative outlook.

We may be utterly horrendous and completely unwatchable at times with a squad which is, on the whole, not fit for purpose, but there is always one or two teams pisher than us somehow and it’s the same again.

The combination of results required for us to finish 9th is highly unlikely.

Listen boys, I'm no everyone's cup of tea on here and that's ok but I found out my granda died just before kick off.  It was him that got me into Ayr, the first game he took me to was a 5-0 win so the boys did something really special for me today.

Sorry to hear that. It’s stuff like that that the fitba never fails with. Have admiration for anyone passing on the Ayr gene to their children and grandchildren. When my Ayr-supporting, Talbot-despising grandad passed away the week before the Talbot defeat, I took solace in the fact he never had to watch that. I’m sure if any of the playing staff read this thread (and I’m sure they will) they’ll smile at the fact they were part of that special result for you today.

  5. The main defence of him here seems to be that he can cover multiple positions in the back 4. Can someone with a better memory than me recall how many times he’s actually done this?

The only time I can think of him playing at centre back this season was one of the top 3 worst Ayr games I’ve ever watched, at Cappielow in January.

He can cover centre half about as well as I could cover an incapacitated Boeing 747 pilot.

I cant remember what we got for Dipo but I believe it was more than £250,000.

I cant see how we would have went through that on:

    Senga - 5 months

    Young - 5 months

    Ahui - 6 months

    McHugh - 3 months

    Sanders - 3 months

    Willoughby - 3 months

    McGinley - 3 months

    Syla - 2 year deal

Pendlebury’s 30 day loan must’ve commanded some size of fee then.

Bugger off to Wales if you're not happy. I'd rather the DABs won a Scottish trophy than a team from any other country, the minter would be unbearable.

Thought no one cared about this trophy though so why would it be a minter? Or is that just when their team gets put out.

There was some very nasty and irresponsible shouts from the SRE end today and Ruari was just responding to the Ayr supporters that there is no need for that. It's a game of football so please keep your awful abuse away from this sport. No need for the bile. Just enjoy the game bring your kids and your grandchildren and enjoy the day out . It's just a game.  Life is much more important.  Stop the hatred to other teams and breath in the good things in life xx

I enjoyed my day out while simultaneously calling Ruari Paton a p***k.

    Thank you very much.
