How, exactly? You’re the one going around making delusional comments like “natural order maintained” and deploying armchair psychology (“you’re embarrassing yourself”) against random people on the internet. If you don’t think that’s “too invested” or embarrassing then I really have to question your grasp on reality.

No, just being honest. I’ve been on here numerous times when we’ve lost and you’ll more often than not receive a few comments from opposition supporters who are gracious in victory. It’s usually appreciated and I like reading insight from fans of other teams. Of course, there’s always one or two opposing fans with crappy banter and delusional remarks, but your rabble are uniquely dreadful. Kind of reminds me of interacting with Rangers fans.

There’s a theory in our workplace that Dundee fans are among the worst in the league, however I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt because I know some gracious Dee fans with some decent banter. However, this thread really helps clarify why so many people believe Dundee fans are the worst in the league. There’s quite a few gracious comments from Saints fans (e.g., “Dundee were the better team”), however there’s no sign of any Dundee fan with even an ounce of grace or humility (you’ll usually find one or two from opposing sides). It’s pretty weird considering they’ve been the third team in Tayside for over a decade. They’re almost as bad as Rangers fans (not quite).

There's really no argument to be made about this St Johnstone squad because it's incomplete. The biggest problem is we have no pace or width. A lot of the signings we've made will only perform under appropriate conditions, and a team without pace and width is not conducive to effective football. We can evaluate this new crop of players until we're blue in the face but it's all a bit redundant because we have no pace or width and very little creativity. I suspect they'll only come good once we field a full football team and allow them to do the job we signed them for.

Next three fixtures: Celtic (A), Dundee (H), Rangers (H). We won't take anything from Rangers or Celtic so it's highly likely we won't have a single point after five games unless we get a result against Dundee. I suspect this season might see us set the record for the lowest final point tally of any SPL club in the 21st century.

I'm yet to encounter a Saints fan who thinks 10th place would be anything less than a good outcome for this season. We're going through a complete rebuild, largely because Davidson spent two years building a house of cards. If he was the manager of any other team in this league he'd probably have been sacked a year earlier. We tend to give our managers a chance; that approach usually works well for us, however Davidson was the exception.

If you're going to play a lone striker then: He needs to hold the ball up; He needs to be fast; OR You need fast/capable wingers. We don't have a fit striker capable of 1 or 2, and we don't have a team with capable wingers. This is why I feel it's shortsighted evaluating Jephcott at this stage; we lack the requisite personnel to facilitate or supply a striker like Jephcott. Actually, I suspect this is partly why Bair failed as well; our style of play sets him up to fail. Evaluating Jephcott in a team without wingers or capable attacking midfielders is like evaluating a bicycle without wheels. I suspect Clark would create a more suitable enironment for Jephcott to flourish, but you'd still need a more consistent and effective supply from the flanks/midfield.

The current defensive problems really make me question the decision to let Mahon go in January. It’s all the more bizarre when you consider Bair played 33 times last season and Mahon only played 3.

It's not the affordability issue that gets me, it's the quality. On the whole Scottish football simply isn't good enough to warrant £25 entrance fees.

Much of a muchness. All of the players we all know are woeful are still woeful. Likewise, Davidson still lacks the requisite aptitude to organise a piss-up in a brewery. Really, the only thing we've learned from this experience is we may need to set up some mandatory training on how to operate online forums for that andrewh guy. He seems confused.

I genuinely don't know what it will take for him to be fired. Of course, we're all missing one thing: there's no guarantee that whoever replaces him is going to be up to the task. With a couple of additions, a few departures and some tactical nous I feel like we could be a mid table side, however will it look that way to a prospective manager? Every game that passes doesn't just increase the probability of relegation, it makes us less attractive to any prospective manager capable of turning turn things around. If we wait much longer we'll likely put ourselves in a position where the board realises: it has to get rid of Davidson no suitable candidate wants the job Part of me worries Davidson's stench permeates so strongly throughout the club that it might take more than a season for a new manager to get rid of it.

I think that's the key point: it's none of your business. However, his business has become the club's business. As far as how I conduct myself, I don't expect business associates to care about or burden the consequences of my personal problems, irrespective how severe they are. They hired me to do a job and that's as far as our relationship goes. None of us show up to work out of kindness, we do it purely for self-serving reasons (money), yet we all expect employers or clients to show kindness to us. It's a different world nowadays though, one which expects me to make all of my personal problems the problems of my workplace, employer or client. It definitely isn't a reciprocal relationship (ie, the avg. modern footballer has no loyalty to their club).

I think the worst thing about Davidson is he makes me feel like a suitable candidate for manager. I genuinely feel like I could do a better job than him. I've never really felt that way about a Saints manager before. We've had poor managers, but we've never endorsed complete strategic and tactical incompetence before, at least not in my lifetime. The only reason he remains in place is because the club is concerned about PR and contractual obligations. I doubt those concerns will disappear over the course of the season.

I think we should invent a new metric called "cost of Davidson" (COD). I feel the COD for this side is at least -3 league places relative to a competent manager.
