  1. Yeah. Manager said he can play at FB or across midfield. Looks to be an astute signing
  2. Centre mid. In front of Banner. Moore and Milne out wide.
  3. It's been a great team effort this year again and there are lots of positives to take from what we've seen so far. I was a bit worried - like others - that injuries might cost us dear but the last few weeks in particular has shown that there's a unity in the squad that's quite compelling. Injuries to Davidson and Leitch have seen the emergence of Banner and Milne in an outstanding partnership. On Saturday at Palmerston Milne must have covered every square inch of that pitch. And Banner just gets better and better in that midfield role. Ewan Wilson has shown he's much more than a left back with some driving runs down the wing and solid defensive work. He looks like a super prospect. Young Miller looks assured and composed on the ball too. Josh Cooper has obviously benefited from a wee run in the team too We seem to be struggling to find the right blend up top but I'm sure it will come. I thought this year we might leak goals but also score a few as my view was that we had a comparatively weak defence but a decent attack. Wrong again. The defence has been excellent so far although it's noticeable that if you play round us and knock in crosses we can deal with them all day long. The problems come when attackers run at us through the middle as we've seen at Falkirk and Annan and to some extent with Hester up at Montrose. So lots to be positive about. The new regime seems steady enough if a bit uncommunicative and there's a good feeling behind the scenes on matchdays apparently. So a highly satisfactory first quarter. Some decent football being played, attendances up and ground improvements promised by our landlords. Well done to everyone on and off the pitch for a great effort and let's hope it continues.
  4. I thought we were more competitive and set up a lot better against a pretty decent Montrose team. On another day we might have taken a point. The Annan game was painful to watch. Although we had a couple of short passages of play where we were on top we were generally unable to combat Annans running off the ball and the speed of their 2 wingers (4 if you include the 2 subs). Aidan Smith ran us ragged and we looked terrified every time the ball came near Goss. We could have lost a few more and remember Currie saved a pen. I also thought the manager should have brought on mcgeachie and Moore at half time as their pace and workrate might have countered some of the problems. So in my opinion Saturday was an improvement and we were really only undone by a wee moment of skill from the young number 20. I agree that the forwards are not delivering just now and we could be doing with a couple of fresh faces in just to change the dynamic if nothing else. Let's hope the manager gets someone in this week as he seemed to be alluding to in his interview post match.
  5. Like most of the games I've seen so far we've competed well against fellow part timers. McLean was back so the defence looked pretty solid and the game looked from the beginning like one mistake or a decent set piece would settle it. You always feel in these types of games that a bit of class can be the difference and that seemed to be the case as Montrose's number 20 loanee - who looks a real prospect - evaded about a hundred tackles driving into the box and Hester did the rest. A bad goal to lose or a piece of individual brilliance depending on who you support I thought we were denied a penalty when Hilson went down in the box but apparently the ref thought he went down a bit too easily despite the stud marks on his leg. But hey ho we've had a few breaks this season so not complaining too much. Overall a much better performance than last week and a point would have been a fairer outcome imo. But we showed up well and just need to find a goal scoring touch again.
  6. https://www.stirlingalbionfc.co.uk/event/stirling-albion-v-hamilton-academical/ says cash or eticket but no card payments
  7. Good thing is that we looked quite at home in league one. Looked a draw till Clarks free kick although we were definitely the better side second half. I thought Milne was excellent today with leitch and McLean not too far behind. Davidson had his best game for a long time too - covered the pitch and broke up most of the Edinburgh attacking play. I suspect today was the pattern for most of the games against the other part time sides. Pretty tight and decided by a bit of brilliance or a daft mistake. We missed Hilson but Spence put in a decent shift although things improved when Thomson came on. It's great that we have those options available. Young team seemed to behave themselves so well done to them. They're a great asset to the team when they're like that so let's hope it continues. So a positive start, a decent performance and much to be cautiously optimistic about
  8. Well done to Annan. Fully deserved and good luck in league one
  9. There's a decent spine to the team with Currie, McLean, Davidson (if he plays to his ability) and Carrick. I think we need a left sided centre back with a bit of pace though to complement them. In addition.... Clark and Geeks as full backs with cover required might be ok An attacking mid who can last more than an hour would be good. I really like leitch but he disappears from games and seems to tire easily. He's a decent player though. A foil for Carrick as we don't want him playing up front on his own. Personally I like Thomson and it would be interesting to see how his partnership with Carrick develops at a higher level. I also liked the look of Spence when he came on yesterday - if he can get a good preseason then he might be a good asset for L1 and press more for a starting position We definitely need wide players who offer more than hard work and defensive cover. Moore has been excellent this year but his reluctance to take a man on is infuriating. But he works his socks off defensively so... I think too that we look a stronger unit defensively when banner is playing as a defensive mid. He's better at breaking up the play than Davidson and I think he's been pretty good whenever called upon Overall I think we have a decent enough core but definitely need some additions in wide areas and centre half
  10. Thought there were signs in the first half v Dumbarton on Tuesday that we were starting to find a little bit of form but sadly it disappeared second half when fatigue and nerves got the better of both teams. I'm kind of expecting more of the same. There's likely to be a bigger than normal crowd and a bit of tension especially if the game lacks an early goal. Annan are a good side and always give us a tough game. However, if it's still goalless after an hour I could see both sides settling for a point. Of course the game at Dumbarton could render the whole thing meaningless if east fife continue the form they showed against us and Stranraer.
  11. Been affected by injuries a bit this season but looks a good player so happy to see him back on the books
  12. Decent first half but poor second as both sides were out on their feet after an hour. Thought DY might have used more subs too. Banner was solid for us in the middle and Ross Davidson was back to his enigmatic 'good first half terrible second half' shenanigans. We're stumbling over the line just now but that's something like 17 games unbeaten so we'll take that all day long. Great backing for the team again from our support Looked like Dumbarton set out with the sole task of taking a point to deny us winning the title on their patch so in that respect it was job done for the sons. Ex bino div Wilson played well especially first half. Always liked him at Stirling although he was terribly inconsistent - a good technical player on his day though. Will be nice to win the title formally at home though and on a Saturday. Bring it on.
  13. Funny that as one of the few joys of lockdown for me was listening to the fan commentaries for away games. The partisan commentary brought a wee bit of the actual game atmosphere.
  14. It was a poor quality game but obviously a huge win given the nature of it. I thought we were okish in the first half without really getting out of second gear. Stenny keeper made a couple of good stops to keep them in the game. Second half we really toiled. Davidson and leitch ran out of juice and that let wedderburn run the show. However his opportunities to do so were severely limited by stennys incomprehensible tactics of just lumping the ball up the park at every opportunity. Their number 14 ghosted past our sluggish midfielders and defence on a couple of occasions and why they didn't do that more often is baffling. Don't remember Currie making a save of note throughout. Carrick's brilliant late winner exemplified the never say die attitude of the team and it was just brilliant to see players and fans celebrating both that goal and the victory. The fans were tremendous throughout - turned out in good numbers and backed the players from first to last. Real feel good factor throughout the club at the moment and let's hope it carries through to Tuesday night.
  15. Genuine question. What's the position with the supporters trust for you guys? I saw in a previous post that you have a trust rep on the board but is there any chance of taking control? Maybe buying out the main shareholder or sufficient shares to gain overall control?
  16. Being asked to stand in a queue in the rain to get a voucher (or refund) was at best insensitive.
  17. The queuing in the rain thing was quite poor. It would have been easy enough to ask people to stay in the stadium and then give out tickets as they were leaving. Like many others I decided just to leave it.
  18. To get a refund you had to stand out in a queue in the rain.
  19. Haven't even made an official announcement at the stadium. You Dumbarton folk really need to work on customer service
  20. Pitch is in some state right enough. Cue half time abandonment
  21. There's been a bit of good fortune eg the postponements around Christmas but the manager has played the squad well and the medical guys have been top class in managing injuries.
  22. As expected this was a tough old game. I was pretty impressed with the energy east fife showed. They also moved the ball well through midfield but lacked a bit of a cutting edge. We're stuttering towards the finish line and while we're not playing anywhere near the standard we were pre Christmas there's no doubting our self belief and determination. Thought Carrick was excellent today. Midfield is misfiring badly right now with leitch and Davidson looking like world beaters for 5 minutes before disappearing for the next 15. But it's another point gained on Dumbarton - the only team who can catch us - so happy with that. Referee seemed on a mission to destroy the game as a spectacle with a flurry of yellow cards all for handball ending up with Trouten getting a second yellow and the early bath. As sometimes happens, east fife improved after that and could easily have snatched the winner. As could we tbh. On to Dumbarton on Tuesday night....
  23. Potentially quite a pivotal match. In essence we need to match Dumbartons results over the next 3 games and a win tomorrow would help obviously. I was impressed with East Fife and I think they're on a good run so I expect tomorrow will be an extremely tough test. Healy versus Clark could be interesting and I wonder if DY might play 5 across the middle like he did in the Bonnyrigg game Agree too re the east stand. A sensible move as things have been getting a bit tight in the main stand recently.
