  1. Absolute pits today. Another shocker in the 3rd level of Scottish football. Last season it was former amateur and Highland League sides that humiliated us - and 6 league games in this season it’s the turn of an ex- junior team to give us a good shagging.. Things must improve or a fifth season in League One is looming - as is part time football - which surely can’t be any worse than the present state of affairs.
  2. There’s now no justification for keeping Rennie but wouldn’t surprise me if he’s here next season. It’s not getting beat that the hardest to take, it’s the complete lack of fight and commitment. In the past you could tell when a few players weren’t trying a leg but never the whole out field team. And that’s surely down to Rennie’s motivational skills or lack of them! Over the years I’ve seen Falkirk teams out of their depth at the level they were then at. Relegation would more likely follow but at least they battled to the end, eg at Kilmarnock in May 2010. If we ended up in a relegation battle next season the present lot would give up long before Christmas. And believe me without something changing that’s what could happen.
  3. Airdrie are in their ninth season in League One and could yet be here for a tenth. Could be our lot for how long? Little to be optimistic about. Surely BOD have seen enough of Rennie and Millar to realise they are not the answer. Without the (W)right manager we are doomed, Captain Mainwaring, all doomed!
  4. Worst Falkirk team in my 60 years as a fan and worst in club history. Completely out classed by a team only 3 places above us. Absolutely no fight and outplayed in every part of the field. Mr Rennie should be encouraged to return to USA asap. Don’t know where the club goes from here but in short term it will be downwards.
  5. At 1-0 down on Tuesday, the Falkirk subs came round to the front of the South Stand for a limbering up, Griffiths included. Probably didn’t hear me but I enquired of him rather loudly, why he wanted to play for this sh*te hole of a club and perhaps he should have taken up the offer from St Mirren instead ? Didn’t get a response, but other than the money, why did he sign for FFC? I try to remain optimistic about reaching the play offs but based on Tuesday’s performance it will not happen. I’m expecting the same kind of game and struggle against East Fife tomorrow - and the result could go anyway. Failure to beat the bottom club will surely end any remaining slim hopes of 4th place, with a play off place in the bottom half becoming more likely? Is the club in such a mess that there is now no longer any short term fix possible? Hard to bear, but after nearly 60 years as a fan, you just can’t walk away
  6. Left the game 5 minutes before the end. Surprised I lasted that long. After a promising start the opening goal just floored them. Completely outplayed after that. The players have no confidence and no real fight. Martin Rennie’s objective will surely be simply to avoid relegation. That is the reality of our situation. Can anyone see this lot winning at Methil next week? Today was the eighth successive home league game that we have failed to score in the first half. The fifth home league defeat and another two in Cup ties makes that seven. League’s second lowest scorers with 20 goals. Absolutely pathetic. As we all know a new squad of higher quality players is again required but where are they going to be found? Best of luck Martin, you’re going to need it.
  7. Sheerin has to do the decent thing and resign tonight. I don’t think Holt will do likewise so will have to be forcibly removed before the AGM on Tuesday or there will be a riot at the meeting. Correction - the AGM is on Monday. Let the fun and games begin
  8. And here’s Simon scoring a spectacular goal against Celtic in 1991. Brockville was rocking that afternoon
  9. A good assessment of managers going back to John Haggart. But probably the greatest faux pas a Falkirk board ever made, despite departing manager Willie Cunningham’s strong recommendation, was not to appoint Alex Ferguson as manager in 1973, but instead bring back John Prentice who proceeded to play the same kind of football that Paul Sheerin now attempts to employ. Both Prentice and Sheerin did/do not have the quality of players required to implement such a passing style. Prentice got the club relegated from the top flight and it took 12 years to get back there. Sheerin is taking the club on the road to nowhere and it will be a lot more than 12 years to return to the highest tier again. It’s hard to believe that 30 years ago we could attract the likes of Simon Stainrod who was taking the p**h out of SPL defenders, and scoring goals from the halfway line.
  10. It was 2010 that we were relegated from the SPL and it wasn’t Yogi who took us down. Eddie May started the 2009-10 season as manager and it was actually Elvis that was in charge on the day relegation was confirmed. As to players after Yogi departed how could anyone forget the one and only Farid El Alugui?
  11. The forthcoming match against Clyde is a must win game . If we can’t beat them on the back of their 3-0 and 5-0 defeats an exit from League 1 is still possible - but out through the bottom and certainly not promotion. Even a draw would mean only 6 points gained out of the last 24. That’s relegation form in any league. But I remain hopeful the current abysmal situation can still be turned around. But this assumes a win on Saturday!
  12. A tough draw given the current distance, a million miles, between the two clubs. But at least there is no chance of an embarrassing defeat against the likes of Civil Service Strollers, Auchinleck Talbot, Bonnyrigg Rose etc.
