  1. I don't get the obsession some have with the length of deals and I don't think 2-years is excessive. I include Aidan Nesbitt in that as I don't think he's as bad as some make out. Generally, I'd say one-year deals, in most cases, suits neither the player or club - The player wants security and the club wants to build continuity AND retain their value in the case of being able to sell them. With one year deals you reduce the players value as they can walk away or the buying club just waits it out.
  2. The main issue for me is the perceived goal of becoming "sustainable". Sustainable for whom? The recurring deficit is attributed mainly to maintaining the football budget which has remained broadly similar since our relegation from the Premier league in '09 in relation to income if I have understood correctly. Having gone through the period where we bled numerous youngsters because we were skint and the relative halcyon days of our recent cup finals and player sales I would question whether it's ever possible to become sustainable, even in the Premier League. That our finances will still show the 400K deficit with a reduced cost base - likely subsumed by inflation lately, improved commercial income and continually strong season ticket sales and yet our outgoings still exceed our revenue. I'll venture that on our hoped for ever upward trajectory these costs won't reduce even with the potential gains of higher league placings - which have already been confirmed as correlating to budget spend. We are and will continue to be asked to pay a premium for a variable product which is a shaky business model.
  3. Do you mean in terms of the paying adults as the U12's are only "free" to the purchaser. The cost is covered by the Y.E.S. partnership for those as I understand.
  4. I'd be very impressed if the U1876 could get the hand-clap percussion going even if we don't officially play it over the PA
  5. N-Trance, Set You Free (Transfer) for McKay
  6. It's that Falkirk Daft duos fault but to the theme of Ghost Busters so we can chant "who ya gonna" ... Coll Donaldson! Get it played pre-match and give the boy a dose of confidence as some have suggested.
  7. Mind your demographic here . Cilla and Blind Date would have many of them confused!
  8. Fair enough point @Shodwall cat but do they have to be mutually exclusive. Something to ponder ahead of Annan.
  9. We're not asking the players to write an essay on their favourite artist or song. Your answer is a cop-out! It's a quick request on a Monday morning over their cornflakes in the canteen! My main point wasn't about the songs - it's about following through on commitments and co-operation.
  10. You'd hope that someone might anticipate that at least two of those would have been identified as potential scorers and have agreed songs in advance in the event they did and that would be communicated to the PA. It's a joint initiative between the club and Ultras. The club has much more access than the U1876 to put to the players suggested songs or a novel idea may have been to ask the squad . I can concede to your point that the song doesn't matter - even if Finn Yeats for instance chooses Celine Dion - at least you can evidence what works or doesn't or why suggest it at all. Refer to my 2nd assumption. I've seen the original post copied here and their suggestions e.g. Hotstepper for Ola but I'd question what else was worked on between then and the clubs official follow up which didn't have much more detail even though it was 3-weeks apart and didn't mention specifics. I'm glad the section is hopefully here to stay but beyond the flags & storage what else has been implemented that couldn't by the group on their own?
  11. Indeed but it's indicative of behaviours that left can lead to other issues. If you take for granted that expectations won't be met then what incentive does either side have to make future initiatives work? If we don't score against Annan then how do we guage the success of that particular aspect of the trial? Understand it's minor annoyance but if you commit to something then do it or it just looks like lip service.
  12. Saw that too. I don't tend to buy one either and won't be too harsh as that's the 1st blip I've known to be highlighted with the programme. Anyone know what our typical circulation is?
  13. Moving on from yesterday - which was ultimately a comfortable win albeit with certain aspects that weren't satisfactory. I have to temper any criticisms I have as it's because this team appears to be making slower progress than we'd all like and I'm unconvinced that we'd pass sterner tests on current experience. An observation but yesterday did seem to be quite disorganised all over for the club and quite surprised more hasn't been made on here about it. Misjudged the attendance in the KM at least as far as I understand which led to queues on entry and running out of hot food just after half-time. Also scored 4 goals and Amarillo played at each one - what chances they didn't pick a song for any of the scorers. As it stands I think E section should continue beyond the trial as I don't think it's detracted from the games. It did feel yesterday that it floundered by both sides - understandably from the Ultras as they were going against the general atmosphere at the time. There was also the late announcement that the Brockville Bar wasn't going to be open afterwards.
  14. Benched at least. He used to do what Ageyman's doing now and turning players inside out, out-pacing them and being direct. Now he just seems to run in straight lines and shanks it. To me he looks jaded.
  15. Had similar thought during the game. MacIver has had a good nack of getting a touch or bundling it over but I don't think he's someone to consistently score. Can see chances regarded as "easy" he'll struggle to convert but where it's bobbling about he's likely to get a toe, knee or chest to it.
  16. ... At the wrong end. Attack is as misfiring as it was last season. The better teams won't give them much loose change.
  17. Sad to see McGinn being flogged. Sooner Nesbitt and Henderson are fit the better and one of them can partner Spencer - who wasn't much more impressive than McGinn today to be honest. I'd also drop Morrison as he's lost whatever it was he had a couple of seasons ago. Looking at him now the only thing that stands out is his Stuart Hogg-esque hair. He's faded into a player that once he leaves us you wouldn't be surprised to see him pitch up at Dumbarton or Peterhead once they leave us.
  18. Agree. I just don't see the clamour for Allan at all. Hate to say it but I thought he looked lazy and went through the motions. Can see why McGlynn hasn't been convinced and having spent ££ on him you wonder what he was thinking - panic!
  19. Said this after Tuesday. This needs to be sorted sooner than later as we can't keep giving every team a goal start!
  20. Club or Falkirk council might be interested. The council already keep some stuff in their archives as the Brockville Development Association got me wondering what happened to it and I'd never noticed the sign as a youngster going to Brockville. I'll get HSW's blood pressure going here but as we know, Falkirk council generally are a sh*t show. Found out recently they own and store a vintage tram from when Falkirk had a route which they have never thought to display or do anything with! Past administrations cultural vandalism on this area should make you angry! For every Helix and Falkirk Wheel success there is the 60's town hall monstrosity or Carron Iron Works demolition to name the most obvious.
  21. Not sure we'll see the shape change but this is my thoughts. Given last season's failures in games where it was "must win" I'm keen to see if that's developed as it's clear we need a good result - not just a win - and hope that the other game goes our way to give us a chance of progressing. Approach it like a dead-rubber or get sucker punched as we did against Airdrie and Dunfermline respectively and that will be a bigger indicator of how I think our season will go, for me.
  22. Genuinely think that the old cliché applies that it has to be one game at a time. I wouldn't take beating Peterhead tomorrow for granted for instance. Probably not a revelation to some but what's struck me in all the chat about tactics and styles is that we know the lesser teams we face sit in but the flip-side to that and less talked about is their understanding that in the moments they do get at the better teams it has to be quick and not over played. It may be the only opportunity they get. It's that mindset as opposed to ours where we know we'll have to break them down and try to pass around them and have a glut of chances. We need to be honing a clinical mindset and cut out the errors that these teams know they'll only get a few chances to take (and usually do).
  23. That was meant to be than not then No-one wants Brad McKay for 90 mins!!
