  1. Robert Maclennan and John Thurso. Then briefly Alex Salmond, Colin Clark and now Richard Thomson. Marginal area where the Lib Dems used to turn out in significant numbers, then totally switched to support the Conservatives, and were only narrowly beaten out at he last election by the SNP. Labour are nowhere in that seat. Last place.
  2. Labour rules out universal childcare for young children in fiscal credibility drive | Labour | The Guardian Calling abandoning a series of pledges and promises a 'fiscal credibility drive' is a good attempt at turd-polishing though.
  3. Thornberry is turning into their very own version of Coffey. Saw her on a podcast with Nish Kumar and she was utterly tone deaf to some of the issues around race.
  4. Don't forget good 'ol evasion. Like when i ask what Nicola has done that is meant to be so scandalous. Has she been caught screwing anyone in Parliament? Taken blow? Watched porn? Gotten inebriated and/or violent? Abused people around her? Used racial slurs? Taken a bribe? Taken a dodgy offer of a 2nd job? ..that later turned out to be a sting? Nope. None of those things.
  5. Not certain with how that might affect Scotland specifically. Will complicate things. From what i understand the Public Order Act passed prior to the Coronation. In order for it to pass the House of Lards, amendments were made, certain things were taken out or clarified. What happened here was the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman used a statutory instrument to put back parts that were removed by the upper house without debate in either. The Fatal motion was intended to prevent her amendments from happening. This is same bill that Starmer said he 'wants to bed in" by the way.
  6. Well there's this guy. Calls himself an MP sometimes, an call himself an MSP on other occasions. Sometimes he even say's he's a leader. Appears to be claiming two Full-time salaries plus expenses, but also appears to be moonlighting at the football for the most part. Not sure how that works exactly. Won't release his full tax returns. Looks shifty. His political party is well-know for corruption cronyism and all manner of vip-lanes and preferential treatment for a donor class. Profiteering off a crisis at the public expense is one of their more recent gambits. Yet, no murder tents. No arrests. Clear guilt, yet no action by Police and security forces who were witness to all the antics. Not until it became undeniable that it had happened. Nearly a year later. Is she corrupt? Is there corruption in the Scottish Parliament? I don't think so. We know what corruption looks like and can see it happening in the other parliament, yet we see nothing like the stuff being thrown towards the SNP at present.
  7. "valid criticism" would be a smuggled premise. Criticism, is at best what you have; let's see whether it is valid. Humza reckons that there is not enough to merit sanctions. I tend to agree. Please do elaborate on why that is incorrect.
  8. That's because dentists are not the Police, it is why they are spelled and pronounced differently.
  9. I think you don't understand how appointments work. Date & time. Arranged. Agreed. No charges. The headline is intended for the "low information" demographic. Emphasise the catch, diminish the release.
  10. If you have any accusations that are worthy of any consideration you may address them to: Contact Police Scotland - Police Scotland
  11. UK legislation. Public Order Act. Govt uses a statutory amendment to change the definition of the main legislation by the back door. Green/LibDem/ind table a Fatal Motion to prevent this. Labour abstain. Tories win.
  12. Basic media literacy should make anyone suspect anything that is leading with the spectacular in favour of the factual. Although i absolutely support Police Scotland's proactive approach and look forward to similar scrutiny, and murder tents, being placed on another political party. Won't be holding my breath tho'
  13. It's not a cult then. Just name calling. Ad hominem to dismiss something. I don't see any damage to the SNP as damage to the independence movement. They are not the same. That support remains buoyant and well above the level that the previous referendum enjoyed at its beginning. There is no doubt that Nicola has be lauded as a great politician. Not surprising given her history. A history of many successes, few failures and with no actual scandals beyond the usual suspects. Who have a tendency to project their own insecurities onto others. There is also the legacy of her outreach work within the EU, other Parliaments and leaders and more. Most noted is her ability to debate and improvise whilst doing so. An effective communicator. The party appears quite aware of everything you say, and the flowers are a nice touch. She has no charges against her, none of them do. Is the mere fact of an investigation, and the way in which it has been carried out, supposed to be leading me towards some conclusion?
  14. I once heard that segment of Republicans described as people who would gladly eat a dog turd in order to breath on a liberal.
  15. I eagerly await your dissertation cataloguing the synergies and similarities between the two. I am quite sure that it won't descend into nonsense as the author disappears up their own arse. What is actually happening is that there is simple a base recognition that the SNP are a vehicle and not the destination. Nicola stands in good stead with the wider movement because of her past record. The Police have no charges to make, and there doesn't appear to be anything for anyone to object too. If any of them were to be suspended, what infringement would they be suspended for? Helping the Police with their enquiries?
  16. Only heard her when the leadership hustings began. I recall that at the first three meetings she would announce herself as "the only SNP minister to resign over GRR" or something with a pause for applause. Applause that never came. Knew she was sunk right then.
  17. I watched it; he acquitted himself well, Alan Cumming was also magnificent.
  18. I see it as a last gasp. The ex-FM was under the most exquisite scrutiny throughout her career and has published her taxes and answered to all her detractors in detail. She is arguably the least likely candidate for suspicion. Backed up by her more dignified questioning. I suspect that when it comes out we will see a collection of wild accusations that bear no relation to the actual accounts and facts supplied by the SNP3. Bonus points if there is mention of satanic rituals.
  19. She's the 2nd. Alex was something of trailblazer in that regard too.
  20. Trump would never use any of those long words intentionally.
  21. It could be easy to trip into Trumpian denialism, but in this instance we see a similar pattern that was used in Beergate. The individuals are questioned under caution regarding nebulous 'complaints' that diminish into nothing. The person's involved are not allowed to comment, which only fuels the rabid speculation. What makes me skeptical is the way in which they announce that someone is being arrested, to generate maximum headlines, when in the normal course of things you would expect a statement from the Police post-interview.
  22. Aye. Pretty much. 1st clue; there are no charges. So no custodial stay beyond the chinwag which will largely go through her legal representative. The 2nd clue is that she is going to them at an agreed date/time and has not been apprehended Sweeney style whilst out getting the messages. She'll be back on streets by nightfall.
  23. Lib Dem pledges and Tory targets. They've become the thing they once hated. The "Green investment pledge" has now been reduced. It was supposed to be a 28bn a year Green infrastructure and investment programme. Rachel Reeves said it would last for a decade. Not any more. Something something to begin in the latter part of the 1st term with a total of 28bn in expenditure over its existence. It is no way as ambitious as the IRA that inspired it. "securinomics" as Rachel would say.
