  1. If dropping points in the league Cup this early should set off the panic alarm, at least we're in good company with Hibs, Livi and St. Johnstone. I reckon we've got enough about us to finish above at least one of them. How's Carsons penalty saves? Might need him to do a Hladky
  2. Not that I disagree with your post overall, and correct me if I'm wrong but weren't we the only ones facing championship tier opposition? I'd hardly put the arbroath team who nearly got promoted last season on the same level as Clyde. That being said its definitely not a good result, and plenty of work needed to get to the level we'd expect/hope for. Very likely we'll end up having a 'meh' season but if you offered me that right now over relegation I'd not turn it down either.
  3. I am keen to see the new away top. I tend to only buy one of the tops at most a season, and I'm holding off. Read a few places the away kit is meant to be cracking too.
  4. Fair point about the timings, hadnt thought about that. I think given our transfer business so far its still a good sign that we at least won't be doing any panic loans for key positions. If/when we do loan folk in, you'd expect it to be good ones
  5. No loans this season yet either if I'm right. Not that I'm against them as much as Dons fans seem to be - but its unusual for us not to be reliant on them.
  6. Didn't think our club thought it was too good to have supporters who don't attend matches. You can still support a club even if going to games isn't an option. Get this pish in the bin.
  7. mentions he wants one more defender, hoping its done in the next few days, but sounds like after that its maybe only one more player if any. Deffo driving the importance of fitness as you'd rightly expect at preseason.
  8. Pretty much most if not ALL signings this season are "Robinson" signings. He's the current Manager for St. Mirren after all.....
  9. If he does well enough for you guys then Aberdeen will be in a better position to attact a suitable replacement. (back in Europe) Might also be paying only a portion of his wage or something. If he's crap you punt him back. Plenty of potential positives in a loan here. I also imagine this was all in the works long before the big transfer to Liverpool went through.
  10. Pretty sure every manager says they want their business done as early as possible and to get the players in before preseason begins. Goody said this when he went to the Dons. Pretty sure the new hibs manager said it in his first interview. Desire and reality seldom align in this regard but it makes a good soundbite to get fans excited and imply they're driven.
  11. The extra 200k must be to get us a decent replacement for Dunne
  12. Has the club officially stated the 350k price tag or are we all getting excited by The Sun picking a random 6 digit number? I reckon this is simply the media trying to continue the Dunne transfer mill and nothing more. I absolutely don't think this means the club is stopping selling folk for peanuts either.
  13. Cracking goal from Morgan. The American commentary always makes me laugh though. Hyper excited at any tiny little thing. The smoke display at each end when there's a goal is kinda cool in my opinion though
  14. This brings up a good point. Do people really believe the atmosphere/behaviour of the away fans will be any better just because there's less of them? Sure, it might prevent you hearing sectarian singing in stereo, but it's just as awful in mono. Are parents really gonna fill the family stand with all that goes on when they come into town? I'm not against giving them less, but I don't think it's a given that we'll fill the stands ourselves and that the fan experience will be much if at all better as a result on those match days. I'd be interested in hearing what steps will be going in to better stewarding/policing, better segregation pre and post match to prevent violence and flare ups, better punishments for stadium damage etc. Without any of this, I honestly think we're maybe missing the point.
  15. As much as we knew of this already, I'm pleased with Carson signing. A proven Keeper at this level and the gaffer rates him highly given he's taken him everywhere he goes
  16. In St Mirren Out, you have Alan Power going to St Mirren on a free transfer. I believe that should read Kilmarnock instead.
  17. Option 3 has a bit of red detail in the stripes, Arch Stanton shared a link with a better view a few posts up. I hope smisa did the right thing and went option 2 personally.
  18. He played in both the europa league and Scottish Cup finals this season. Surely he can do better than us even at his age? Gotta be on a decent salary at Rangers too. Would be a massive signing if true.
  19. This sums up my sentiments regarding current players perfectly.
  20. Hate to ruin your summer plans Pozbaird, but Alnwick has apparently as good as signed a precontract with Cardiff..... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cardiff-city-transfer-news-deal-23925648 Don't worry, I'm sure the rest will come true!
  21. I may have sounded a little harsh, but my lack of excitement about the signing doesn't mean I don't necessarily think he'll do well, or that he shouldn't be signed etc. When I looked him up he originally played as a CF before moving to Morecambe, where Robinson ended up playing him mostly as a Winger. Wasn't sure if that was out of necessity or changing his style of play. Thus why I looked at his goal return. If he's going to continue to play wide right, he'll be competing with Jay Henderson on the right wing for when we do play a formation that suits that position - which can only be good for Jay's development and is an area that we at least need options in. I am curious as to how people think he'd fit into a 3-5-2/5-3-2 if that's going to be our default - will he take one of the front 2 spots and just naturally play the role wider, or will he take the wingback role? Is Robinson going in a different direction from those formations? We'll have to wait and see! I hadn't spotted he's over 6ft. I wonder how his heading is We've had pacy players in the past that have been all energy and no end product, looking at you Dylan Conolly. Exciting every time they get on the ball because they can get by a man, but you're going home disappointed 9 times out of 10. I hope he and all the other signings work out great, and we can push on up the league next season!
  22. Sounded more professional than any sportscene/pundit analysis I've heard all season.
  23. Maybe a season in the Championship would do Macpherson some good? I never really rated him at St. Mirren but it's clearly gone terribly wrong for him for various reasons. Many of his own making by the sounds of it.
