  1. Think that it’s time to have a plan ‘B’
  2. The fourth round is the quarter final
  3. Personally speaking Dunbar were worthy winners in each match. May the best team win and look forward to a home tie in Round 4 v Newtongrange Star/Bo’ness Athletic/Crossgates Primrose
  4. Wheres the Cup Final being played?? Did I miss it?
  5. Well seeing as it’s over a century since a Fife winner and twenty years since a Haddingtonshire club picked up the trophy, wouldn’t it be great to have a ground connected to civilised local facilities. Pre match meal and aperitif, post match celebratory drink or drown the sorrows. An enjoyable day out for all concerned. From the list above I’d go for 1 New Victoria 2 Musselburgh 3 Meggatland
  6. Maybe, but I'm pretty sure thats the day for the Dunbar United match. What was that scoreline earlier on in the season?
  7. For most teams, there’s still an awful long way to go and many points to be competed for. No doubt shocks and surprises, injuries & suspensions will come into the mix. Theres also the determination factor of the clubs hovering around the relegation zone. Whoever wins the EoS Premier and it’s very much looking like the guys from Albyn Park, if they’re then successful in gaining promotion into the Lowland will no doubt fare successfully, as indeed most of the current top six teams in the Premier would also do. In ability terms, there's very little between most LL sides and the Premier. I don’t know the play off permutations, but I’m still assuming Broxburn will go up. The organisational setup at Albyn Park, the facility, the depth of squad and the financial ability all point in the right direction for a bright future. It’s getting close to the time when one of the arithmetic gurus writes which date the league will be won by. However, it’s not over until it’s over. Hopefully we all see some great games in the remaining matches and come out to support our local clubs.
  8. Think there’s a question regarding how many teams will actually be relegated. Edin Uniy now looking fav to fall out of the LL. I’m expecting them to come to EoS. So that takes the current 16 clubs to 17. It then requires the round robin play off East/West/South and then the HL to be won by whoever wins the EoS league. If not, surely going to be 4 clubs going down to maintain the 16 club division? Think it’s more a question of how many are going down - three or four?
  9. That's a statement that is hard to disagree with. What were your thoughts at halftime? Being down at 2:0 you must have hoped for a draw but it seemed everything was against the team. Yes, it worked out very well in the end. I struggled to get the scores - it must have been the very early kickoff. The match report is pretty positive - seems there's a marked difference in attitude since the previous visit to Meggatland - what a disaster that was. True there's been a lot of changes in players since May 21 - I'm not sure but could it be close to 50% of the 11 who finished the game have changed since that fateful day? Dowie, Redpath, Barfoot, Gregory, Harris, Somers, Congalton, Peden, Tait, and Stewart are the ones that I'm sure are recent signings. Obviously, there are others Whitson, Brennan, Hare, and Archibald who have also signed on since 18 months ago. Has the the Ref. from Saturday ever been at a Dunbar match previously? Which starting eleven would you select for the HoB match? I don't get to very many games, but I have seen Haddington several times recently and when they play well, they can score goals. I'm sure I will get along to the game at Millfield at the end of the month - weather and work permitting, really looking forward to it after the first game between the sides in September. Were there many fans at the game? Hill of Beath at the weekend - that will be a well-contested 90 minutes, they need the points and are always up for it.
  10. There you go,,,, that’s a bit different from a trip to the field of Dreams at G40/Kerrydale St. The moral being quote others at your own peril
  11. One of the ‘what if’ scenario possibilities seems to be including Dunbar & Broxburn. Both putting on very good displays and perhaps on another day, who knows? But if both had gone into the pot for round four their ball numbers would have resulted in - DUFC vs Rangers Celtic vs Broxburn Not bad for two clubs in tier 6 of the Scottish game.
  12. Ahhh, the devil is in the detail. But an HJ error, non!!!
  13. So a washout last weekend. Could tomorrow be the biggest-ever celebration seen at the ground? A Scottish Cup tie against a first-division club. The strange thing is - it is very possible. If the manager can get his best side onto the park and keep things even for 30 minutes or so, the pressure on the visitors will just increase. If Dunbar gets a bit of luck, then we could be in for a winning celebration. If the result goes against us, I still think it's worth celebrating the achievements in the competition so far. Vert well done to everyone. There's still that game against Cumbernauld to get us into the final sixteen of the Challenge Cup.
  14. Big match against Cumbernauld Colts tomorrow. High flyers from the Lowland League. It's another game where the home side starts as underdogs. Does it really matter? Is there that much between the leagues? Guid luck
  15. Hopefully, the weather will be kind on Saturday. East Fife at Dunbar, what a great day. I wonder if those who've followed the club from the days of old Countess Park ever thought that this sort of game would take place. Sadly many are no longer around to be at the game. Things move forward. Countess Park no more, Brewery Park no more. Football across the County has positively evolved. New Countess Park hosting a big club at a really good facility in the Scottish Cup. Very changed days. All the very best to the players for the match. Anything is possible just believe and compete for every single ball in every single minute. History in the making, be a part of it.
  16. I heard quite a few folks were too busy watching the entertainment at the opposite end of the park towards the end. Why can't people behave?
  17. One club is from Perth, and the other is near Perth, but its indeed a great achievement for the Perth area to now have 3 Premier League teams
  18. Applying some analysis to the numbers gives a very different perspective on the numbers. It's a very well done to teams like Crossgates, Coldstream, Luncarty, Harthill, Whitehill, HoB, Thornton. Linlithgow, Dunbar, and Dundonald. Disappointingly some clubs are drawing only a fraction of a percentage of the local populus to their home games. Who would ever have thought that Luncarty with an average attendance of 52 would in reality be outperforming 55 of the other 60 EoS teams? The TOP TEN are as follows, firstly in percentage of the local population, and secondly just ranking these top ten in actual attendances. ave Att League Population % Crossgates 150 P 2200 6.82% Coldstream 110 2nd 1813 6.07% Harthill 124 3rd 2620 4.73% Whitehill 86 1st 2020 4.26% Luncarty 52 P 1236 4.21% H o Beath 155 P 3750 4.13% Thornton 83 2nd 2020 4.11% Linlithgow 518 L 13450 3.85% Dunbar 295 P 8470 3.48% Dundonald 153 P 4913 3.11% ave Att League Population % Linlithgow 518 L 13450 3.85% Dunbar 295 P 8470 3.48% H o Beath 155 P 3750 4.13% Dundonald 153 P 4913 3.11% Crossgates 150 P 2200 6.82% Harthill 124 3rd 2620 4.73% Coldstream 110 2nd 1813 6.07% Whitehill 86 1st 2020 4.26% Thornton 83 2nd 2020 4.11% Luncarty 52 P 1236 4.21%
  19. Many congratulations. Left it a little late. The 2nd penalty could have been a cracker if it was marginally lower. Big Daws - Man of the Moment, what a celebration he made of his winning goal - rightly so!! As you say, huge turn out of 500+ in the ground, with a couple of the ‘61 legends - Bellamy and Howieson in attendance. That’s two historic days that these guys have witnessed for Dunbar United. Great stuff.
