The goals? Dunipace #1 - very early typical home team goal using the local conditions wind and sun to their best advantage. Dunbar #1 - a thing of beauty. Pinpoint 45 yard pass against the element's, then the winger cut inside beating the defenders and unleashed an unstoppable shot. Scorer; Liam Gregory. Dunbar #2 had controversy written allover it. A pass back to box seen the goalie fall to ground with nobody near him, looked like his studs caught on the surface, The free ball was then knocked into the net by the on-rushing Dunbar Centre. Scorer; Taylor Hendry. Then we had a court of session inquiry into the ‘is it’ or ‘isn’t it’ situation. The referee was obviously following the rules. The technical areas then got involved - as you’d rightly expect them to do. A very strange situation for all. The facts being the whistle never blew, play continued, did anyone realise the scale of the injury at that instant? If a ball falls to a centre in front of an open goal there’s only one thing ever going to happen….. Dunbar # disallowed - a stunning first time effort taken in the air by the centre gave the replacement goalie no chance. However it was strangely disallowed. There you go, take from it what you want. Dunbar #3 had the Dunbar centre in the right place at the right time. Scorer; Taylor Hendry Dunbar #4 seen a tricky move started off outside the box by Hendry then the resulting 1:2 with Bathgate seen a wonderful and final goal. Scorer ; Ben Bathgate. Yes there was controversy. Yes it was a big match. Yes everyone played to the whistle. Hope the Goalie makes a recovery. The injury appeared bad. I think it’s just one of these moments when everyone has a very different interpretation and that’s the reality.

So we have Scotlands oldest working brewery town v Scotlands old brewery town playing off in the third round with Dunbar United vs Alloa Athletic on Saturday. Could it be champagne for the wee guys,,, they’ve played and beaten teams consecutively in ascending leagues. Crossgates have been a side in transition. They did add substantially to their squad and brought a good standard of player over the past two seasons. There may also be substantial plans to develop Humbug and an additional greenfield site. Crossgates are viewing the future in a very positive sense.

Halfway point in the league will very soon be reached. I think the attendance levels for some clubs are looking quite good.

Wonder what could possibly be affecting that number? TJFC have previously been recording some fantastic league game crowds. Then it drops suddenly for the Scottish Cup. it’s a confusing one - isn’t it?

Dunbar certainly matched the more fancied team. A good game, Tremendous turnout, many travelling fans from Fife, a nervy period of added on time - as to be expected. But a result that’s going into the record books for all time. Rightly so. changed days, positive times. ️️️️

Wasn’t that just a good team performance today. Got stronger every minute that the game went on. Certainly appears that things are going in the right direction. It could easily have been more than three goals. However, any way you look at it, a three - nil away win to the undefeated league leaders is very creditable. Respect

Also some Dunbar guys missing from their selection today.

Yesterday (Vs Luncarty) was a guid day at the office. A cracking performance by many of the players resulted in a satisfying win. Last season, Luncarty made life difficult for DUFC, except for (paradox!!) possibly our finest display of the season up in Perthshire. Very much looking forward to the trip into West Lothian on Saturday.

So the Scottish Cup continues at NCP in a few weeks time. Will this be the highest ever, ranked opposition for DUFC in a competitive match? I think it is. I also think there’s potentially the biggest ever competitive match attendance about to be recorded. Hosting a club from the SPL 2 in the Scottish Cup at NCP - changed days. And changed for the better. karma

Big contingent of clubs representing Aberdeenshire, not so many from Glasgow City, surprisingly only 3 teams from Ayrshire equaling East Lothian’s galant 3. Lanarkshire well represented, Perthshire with a couple. Fife have a surprisingly low number of 3. West Lothian represented by Brox and Bo’ness. Angus with a couple, Scottish Borders hopes resting on Gala. Is the demographic profile changing?

Absolutely tremendous to have the three East Lothian Clubs progress into round two of the Scottish. TJ and Mussy both had the home advantage, however at East Pefermill the Dunbar fans easily outnumbered the Edin Uniy support by at least 3:1. A very great day for East Lothian football.

Really hope the EoS & WoS teams prove a point against the LL teams in Saturdays Scottish Cup matches. WoS Prem 16 clubs WoS 1st 16 WoS 2nd 16 WoS 3rd 16 EoS Prem 16 EoS 1st 16 EoS 2nd 16 EoS 3rd 11 SoS 12 135 clubs all filtering into a SINGLE promotion slot into the LL. Absurd situation. Most E&W premier teams are at least as good as many regular LL. Hopefully a few will prove it on Saturday.

So a very exciting second half comeback against our big local neighbours. HAFC take an early lead and hold it until the second half. Some heroic efforts by the guys in Black & White - and let’s face it - the temperature was hot just standing watching. It must have taken it out of the players. Sean Stewart popped in the equaliser, then the guy with 300+ appearances - Darren Handling - doesn’t give up in a one-on-one with the goalie and the ball canons off DH into the back of the HAFC net. Let the celebrations begin . Enough said about all that other stuff, football is more important.

I heard may comments from long time Haddy regulars ‘we’re just fed up with that lot embarrassing us’ being fairly common. Similar statements from officials and players,,,,,,,,,, Shame they’ve got to put up with that crap I did see a fair amount of rubbish left behind for willing volunteers to tidy up Also noticed the DUNBAR banner ripped from its fixings to the fence. Does the match official include these issues in the match report? Hopefully the newborn Dunbar Ultras don’t follow the same path

It’s been done before,,,, Dunbar United lease their ground and we’re led to believe that an almost six figure sum was invested by the Club for the benefit of the wider community in the erection of the recent stand.

I think the Dunipace result was sensational. Saint Andrews was always going to a hard place to win. yes speaking some Preston loyals it was a close one, but I hear they had a couple of excellent performances in the team. The league has to be their focus. Maybe it’s even tighter than last season.

Hmmmm, prematch the standings for both teams were; Irvine Meadow sitting at number 85 in the rankings and tier 6. Dunipace at 128 and tier 7. Theres clearly a significant gap between the sides. But there’s lies, damn lies and statistics. Fair enough,
