I've said it once and I'll say it again, Courts can only use what he has at his disposal. If he played young Arch, Deco and Mochrie week in, week out, people would be saying they're not good enough and would question why he wasn't playing Harkes and Pawlett. Courts can do nothing about McNulty missing sitters every week, Fuchs dropping his head, Harkes scoring worldies one week and being a gangly mess the next. I DO think that United completely failed to get Levitt on the ball last night and surely need to realise he's the one player that can pick a pass. Courts is desperate for a traditional winger, probably two. Niskanen is not that (although thinks he is)... I personally believe United have targets identified and maybe struggled to negotiate deals for them in January, but you can bet your house on there being several Summer signings.

Yep. Was on the bench on Saturday. He's obviously making an impression on Courts and co. He's another player that'll inevitably pass through Tannadice in a year or so, but he's one of many young players who are now looking at Scotland as a great stepping stone to England. Could go on to make us a million quid or so, but could be a great 'case study' for other foreign youngsters to sign for us who will get some game time and compliment the academy graduates.

Perhaps Courts feels that Archie Meekison, Chris Mochrie and perhaps even Cudjoe are the ones to kick on. In fairness, there's absolutely no way United can give every one of these academy graduates a game, so our only senior losses have been: Fuchs, Connolly, Reynolds, Chalmers and Appere. Chalmers and Appere have been away from properly challenging for the first team for some time. Fuchs has been temporarily replaced by Akinola, Watt is definitely an improvement up front and McDonald will lift the level in the middle of the park. We've seemingly kept Benji, which is brilliant business. Look at his Celtic display. I fancy United have failed to pin down a signing or two, but sticks to their ethos of making sure the funds are spent wisely and on targets who are going to improve the team.

This Tim Akinola is gonna have a rude awakening if he comes up north. Just watched a YouTube highlights reel and the first 3 minutes are just him pulling off the same spin trick in the middle of the park, like a one trick pony. He'll get booted aff the park on his debut and will be sitting on a physio bed in London within days.

Dundee have always been fairly shite, so wouldn't read too much into it. Conway, Swanson and Gomis came from lower leagues, as did a certain Andrew Robertson. Evidently McDonald was a diamond in the shite.
