You forgot the “captain” worst of the lot.

No wouldnt say Lyons is worse than any of those I listed.  He was played out of position at left back on Saturday.  Admittedly not good at right back either when he cant cross pass the first man and cant prevent any crosses coming in.

However Cameron top trumps him for "worse" player in the squad and is in my top 3 of worse Clyde players I have seen in 40+ years.  Have said that from probably his 2nd or 3rd game that I seen.

Though then again it all about opinions.

  2. Ideally would like to bin most of the squad in January but that wont happen as no one is going to take any of them.  At tops there is only a handful i would keep

Logan Dunachie (even though has went backwards recently)

    Liam Scullion

Ray Grant (need to see what he is like after his injury mind  you)

    Connor Young

    Martin Rennie (at a push)

Only expect us to get 5 or 6 in.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

We need someone that is out of contract and can guarantee us 15+ goals between now and the end of the season (we all no there is only one person that can do that........................)

Agreed the guys not even close to being the worst in this squad 😂!

There are easily plenty of players worse than Grant in our squad.  Lets be fair if Grant had any pace he wouldnt be with us as other than that he is a good defender, can head the ball and can marshal those round about him.

Worse players off the top of my head than Grant

    Cameron

    McCulloch

    Scullion (Conor)

    Mulvanny

Shall we have list the squad in worse to best?  Or should that be worse to least worse.

I know footballers aren't renowned for thier intellectual prowess, but you would have thought that a new manager is in with money to spend in January, so we are playing for our places, this is a chance to impress so we will up our game and show the boss that we deserve to be kept on............................. and what do they do????? The mind boggles!!!

Unfortunately you can’t impress if you don’t have much, if any, ability

As unfortunately is the case with most of our current squad

  5. With players coming back it trying to think who we should play going forward.

I would go 3 - 4- 3 (would like to fit Ray Grant in but cant fit him in)

A keeper (not Leighfield or Parry)

                                                                    Dunachie             Carswell            Whyte

                                   Cuddihy (if fit)                                                                                      Stevenson

                                                                        Scullion (L)                               King

                                                                     Leslie                      Rennie                   Young

Makes a difference now that nearly everyone is fit as gives us some depth on the bench.

Cuddihy is still one of the most talented players in the squad, but admittedly that's not saying much given that the past few seasons have seen us carry objectively the worst squads we've had in a decade.

I think when fit he's a good League 2 player but we should have cut the cord with every player who wasn't under contract at the end of last season.

One of the most talented by default given the rest are totally p***

But where you miss as many games as you play a season it is time you were binned

Quick question - where do the away fans go now you guys are at NDP? Is it behind the goal or in the main stand?

You could probably fit the home and away fans into the pie kiosk for all those likely to turn up on Saturday

Though to answer question everyone is in the main stand with away fans in the left

Fair play to any Bully Wee fan getting through six minutes of that Brian McLean Elgin preview on Youtube.

The dullest man in the world. Sleep inducing.

I gave up on the McLean interviews long ago

totally boring and uninspiring and the same excuses rolled out every week

You can rest assured it is true. Any Branch member on here can attest to this. His poor mother is beside herself` and she has posted a very concerning and damming message on the branch facebook page. It is down to this lady as to whether she spreads the message further afield, but personally I think everyone who supports the Club ought to see this post of hers,

As most fans won’t have access to the branch Facebook page (assume it is a closed group) It would make sense to see the message on here so non branch members can see

I am interested to see it

Don’t really have anything for or against the lad but if it was doing him well and it was done on a voluntary basis then don’t see what harm can happen with having another pair of hands helping out.

I can remember a similar outrage when we were chasing promotion and signed a 17 year old boy from Dundee United on loan... wonder how that went?

To be fair that was one teenager in a team of relatively experienced pros

In reality Banks didn’t get much minutes on loan with us and the fact that he played a man of the match full game v Annan at Broadwood clouds many peoples memory of his loan period

Currently we have 40% of the squad who are teenagers which regardless of their ability is too much for L2 level

You need a core of good experienced pros who have played 300+ games at this level and above to succeed

McCulloch is improving by the week and Cameron was great when moved centrally.

Wouldn’t be difficult to McCulloch to improve he been Pis# so far

”great” is pushing it a bit for Cameron.  “Involved more” is more appropriate but also was still pis#

What about Kane Rictchie-Holser at Dunfermline, don’t know if he’s been injured, but today’s been the first time he’s been in the squad since May

That a good shout if conditions are

    1. championship team

    2. attacking midfielder

    3. not being released today due to injuries in their team (and in squad for first time this season)

I was thinking Scott Allan from Arbroath

The quality of squad recruitment at Clyde FC has become a growing concern among fans and stakeholders in recent seasons, largely due to the inclusion of several players who can be categorized as poor-quality signings. While there have been some promising acquisitions that have showcased their talent and dedication to the club, there have unfortunately also been instances where the recruitment choices have fallen significantly short of expectations. These instances have resulted in underperforming players who struggled to make a positive impact on the team's overall performance, often leaving supporters frustrated and disappointed. It is imperative that the club's recruitment strategy undergoes a thorough review and overhaul. Striking a balance between securing experienced players who can make an immediate impact and nurturing young talent for the future is essential. The effectiveness of recruitment efforts will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in determining the team's performance on the field and its ability to achieve its competitive goals. As dedicated supporters, we fervently hope to see a more discerning approach to recruitment, one that eliminates the inclusion of poor-quality signings, ensuring that we have a squad capable of consistently competing at a high level and restoring the club's reputation for excellence in squad building.

    Could be worse

Could have spent £10m+ on 4 strikers like rangers and you couldnt make one decent one out of the four of them

There is always a risk signing players for money or not but have to say our track record has been abysmal since promotion season - which is due to the inability of DL and JD to spot a player

With rumours of Forbes and Carswell away.......we need more than just strikers

Hopefully the rumours are true that both are away as bizarrely by both leaving would say the squad is improved.

Need two full backs, 3 midfielders and 2 strikers.  Not going to happen and would be surprised if we got anyone in other than maybe a few loans and unlikely we will be able to ship out the required number on loan as frankly who is going to take any of our full backs, midfielders or strikers.

I never mentioned buying players, we’ve hardly done that in my lifetime.

Wonder the last player we actually shelled out some money for???

only one I can think of is Billy Reid who we bought in the 80s(?) for about £35k (that would be equivalent to us  spending about £100k today)

Remember he got injured early on and was out for about a year and wasn’t the same player when he came back as he was with QotS

My suggestion for what its worth is to contact Jack Ross and see if he could assist Brian McLean on an interim basis or ideally a position within the so-called football (void) department. Otherwise why not John Hughes, he definitely would take no prisoners.........

Can hardly see JR giving up his gig at Newcastle to assist BMcL.

I couldnt even see him giving up his Newcastle job to be the manager.

Is there any particular reason why Forbes is so slow/unfit?

He generally has been like that throughout his whole career.

Was the reason why Motherwell got rid of him at the start of his career as they could never get him premier league standard fit.

Just think it might be how he is genetically made or maybe he isnt the best trainer.

He is good on the ball (thought hasnt shown it with us) but his fitness is now such that he is a liability on the pitch with his lack of fitness more than offsetting any on the ball benefits.
