  1. Elgin and Forfar have picked up a point game If they carry on that they will pick up another 16 so we need at least 23 points Cant see us winning 8 games out of 15 We havent won 8 league games last season and this.
  2. Tonight wasn’t a must win but certainly was a must not lose 7 points behind is too much to claw back even at this stage as only won 1 out 9 in the league since McCall took over We are better than before but we were that bad before wasn’t difficult to improve
  3. McCall did say at the weekend he was hoping to get 2 more in. That one in and all 4 of our loan spaces used (Leslie, Allan, McGinn, King) Sounds like we might be splashing some cash tomorrow if McCall is to get his other addition !!!!!!!!!
  4. There is no denying the importance of tomorrows game but a win shouldnt just be expected We haven’t won in the league away from home since QotS away in the first game of LAST season Talk of finishing midtable is pie in the sky. We are 11 behind EF and 10 behind Bonnyrigg. They have both taken just over a point a game so if they do the same over the remaining games they will finish up circa 27-30 points ahead where we are now. Means we need to win about 10 out of 16 to catch them up Lose tomorrow and we will be up against it to finish 9th So tomorrow is really a must not lose rather than a must win Though first away win in a season and a half would be much appreciated
  5. thats why i said "in league" we also beat musselburgh away from home in the cup. Only looking at league games.
  6. Of course we need to win but if we lose then 7 points behind them is going to be really difficult to get back on them Also reality is we haven’t won away from home since first game of last season v QotS in league.
  7. Tuesday not a must win but certainly a must not lose
  8. Think you might be in for a huge letdown. Cant see us bringing in those 4 now. Maybe 1 or 2 but not all 4.
  9. It Clyde, think we can guess what is to be more likely. AM and IM wrongly got fans optimism up when they said "there is going to be big changes in January with about 9 or 10 coming in and going out". The 9 or 10 going out was the easy bit (could even be more). The difficult one is getting 9 or 10 in which is always difficult in January. The only way I can see us getting another 6 in is by splashing out on transfer fees. (which may just be necessary at this point) or by going for others who are just deemed no good enough by others. AKA Olly McDonald (.......................shudders at the thought of it!!!!!!)
  10. Agree with this. For most of the season we were relying on him to be the creator in the team (you need to remember he is only 19 and just playing senior football for the first time) It clear to see there is a player there and as have always said with better players around him like Grant/Cuddihy rather than Forbes/Carswell I think he will contribute Can strike a good ball as seen by his two goals and generally good on the ball
  11. Looks like AM and IM could end up with egg on their face with their “there will be about 9 in and the same out” statement Though to be fair I think AM said at the fans meeting last month that a few would come in at the start with the rest coming in at the end. Though I’m sure he didn’t mean the last day - which may end up being the case Anyway desperate times call for desperate measures Jordan Allan & DGW (will put on my tin now) - both would however guarantee 20+ goals between them the rest of the season. We need to win games and need to score goals. Alex King and Liam Brown who recently left EK in midfield. Genuinely think there a player in King but only with better players around him which he now has with Grant and Cuddihy back in midfield. Any competent RB and LB you can think off that can either defend or deliver a good cross (if they can do both then all the better) There your final 6.
  12. Yeah I am beginning to think that is likely to be the number of new players we are likely to get rather than the 5 or 6 that keeps getting banded about.
  13. I was more meaning to have played in a team that was relegated rather than being free to leave at the end of the season. It is clear that McCall and Maitland are already struggling to get their targets as they are getting turned down by players.
  14. Most players will look and see we are bottom of L2 and do they really want to risk coming to us and get relegated I would be the same in their position
  15. If we had kept King I would have been happy enough going into the weekend. Then again Rennie might be fit so he might be back with Leitch dropping further back. In all reality if there were players lined up they would have been signed by now (as the 3 that have been signed were in place before turn of year) With other teams looking at their squads and who they want to keep and who they dont I now dont expect anyone to come in until the last day or so of the month (as thats when most activity tends to happen) when I am expecting about 5 or 6 to come in.
  16. Night and day performance from a few weeks ago. Shows the difference 3 or 4 players can make. Good to hear that we are looking to bring in another 6 or more. Pretty obvious what we still need; keeper, 2 full backs, creative midfielder to play just off the forwards and probably 2 more up front as just have Young and Rennie as recognised strikers. Lyon obviously at error for the goal but probably not helped by playing someone at left back who kicks with his right foot. Hopefully we can string a run of results over the next 6 games and get ourselves off the foot of the table. Lot more hopeful than I was a month ago. Here's hoping will be even more hopeful come 31st January with a few more bodies in. From the interview seems like McCall is trying to get King for 2nd half of the season. Think you would see a big difference from him compared to the first half being beside others than can actually play. You can see there is a player in there in flashes but think he would benefit just by having better players to play alongside. Having Ray Grant back is like another new player. Could see the drop off in midfield when he went off.
  17. Yeah neither craig or Lyon’s can stop a cross or deliver a cross (both or even one important for a full back) Craig was ok last year but his form this year dropped significantly
  18. We now have an abundance of centre half’s that you think at least 2 or 3 will be moved on from Sula Carswell Dunachie Grant Whyte Hamilton Howie
  19. Think it pretty obvious the 7 or so players they are trying to move on. Pick your 7 from…….. McCulloch, Craig, Carswell, Forbes, Mulvanney, Scullion (Conor), Cameron, Gunn, King, Stevenson, Hopefully get 2 full backs, another midfielder and a forward
  20. As has been summed up by others it clear that he has potential as a player. But as also have been summed up by others case of the wrong player, with the wrong team, at the wrong time. It he was surrounded by footballers I think he would have been ok. Loan to Stenhousemuir or Dumbarton would have benefitted him much better. However he has been surrounded by diddies and we are expecting him to get on the ball and make things happen. He scored a cracker in his first game against Elgin but again as others have said just doesnt get involved in the game often enough, doesnt work hard enough off the ball and for 90%+ of the game is anonymous.
  21. No the game I was thinking of was definitely at Shawfield and craig brown was the manager it was around the time Aberdeen won’ the cup winners cup in 83 They had all the stars out; Leighton, miller, McLeish, strachan, black etc There might have been a game after that later in the decade. Sure we played them away in a cup and got beat 5-0
  22. Remember us playing Aberdeen in 83 or 84 at Shawfield in the 3rd or 4th round of the cup. Think it was 2-0 (to Aberdeen) Think we also have played them in one of the cups at pittodrie more recently when it was 5-0 (from memory) Makes a change from our usual draws
  23. It only depresses me when I think of the players I have seen in the past v what is there today Plus there will be fans who can go back more than my 40 years who will be even more depressed
  24. No wouldnt say Lyons is worse than any of those I listed. He was played out of position at left back on Saturday. Admittedly not good at right back either when he cant cross pass the first man and cant prevent any crosses coming in. However Cameron top trumps him for "worse" player in the squad and is in my top 3 of worse Clyde players I have seen in 40+ years. Have said that from probably his 2nd or 3rd game that I seen. Though then again it all about opinions.
