That’s the really frustrating thing, with a player of Goodies quality we could easily be pushing for promotion if we had built a fairly solid but unspectacular League one standard side. He is a difference maker that no other team at this level has. We will rarely (if again) have a player of that quality at our disposal. Instead we are struggling to survive because we have surrounded him mostly with guys who wouldn’t be out of place in the lowland league.

It’s remarkable he’s the top scorer in the full SPFL when you see the dross he is surrounded by every week.

Totally agree, DGW in say Falkirk’s team and they would be romping things this year

We won’t have a player of DGW ability ever again for the length of time we have as he has only been with us so long due to his well known historic reasons

As a player he is unbelievable what he can produce at times.

The second goal he scored yesterday is now the type of goal you now expect him to score.  No one else in the team is even capable of scoring such a goal

For this reason only DL should be on his bike as DGW should have been the focal point to build the team around when we got promoted

It’s absolutely astounding to me that this present Clyde team is still in contact with the other sides in the lower half of the league.

The only reason we are in touch is DGW.

If you have the top goalscorer in the country then you would expect to be near the top of the table rather than 9th.

Without DGW we would be easily in 10th.

Let's take the positives from this.  Rescuing a draw from 0-2 down feels far better than squandering a 2-0 lead.  We maintained the gap over East Fife and closed up on Dumbarton by a point.  We play a team with a naive manager who we have already beaten in 2021 next so the possibility of getting out of the play off position next Saturday is there.

While I agree that Lennon's recruitment and tactics have been questionable this season haranguing him during the game won't achieve anything.  Get off his case.

Many have said DL /AM should go now.  And replace them with whom exactly?

Why was the scorer of Peterhead's first goal (name escapes me) not booked for a confrontational celebration in front of the Clyde fans?

Here's hoping Ross Cunningham is okay.  He looked to be in serious pain when being put on the stretcher.

This post must surely be a joke or maybe even DL or AM posting in disguise or maybe someone who last attended a game in the promotion winning season

Yeah suppose was a positive result yesterday but again we were absolutely hopeless for 44 minutes and lucky not to be 3 or 4 down at the time.  How many times has that happened this season.  Would probably say every game as we haven’t been good for 90 minutes in any game IMO.

DL signings and tactics haven’t been questionable they have been shocking.    We have squad of 24 which is ridiculous and 5 of them out on loan.  We have players in the squad who should be no where near it and will never be players IMO. In fact his signings since he joined have been hopeless with one or two exceptions.

Football is all about progressing (however small) on what you have done before but it is clear to see that the team since promotion has got worse season on season with this year there being a big drop off. DGW is having an unbelievable season (top goal scorer in Scotland) and we are 2nd bottom of L1.  Think where we would be if we just had a bang average L1 forward.  Urghh….shudders to think about

I don’t think the question is who should replace DL/AM is the one (as there will always be plenty of candidates) just that i think that DL/AM have reached there natural end and the squad needs someone new/needs to hear a new voice  with some fresh ideas to see if we can save the season.

Regarding players giving it back to opposition fans I am all for it given the stick they have to take and it all part of the fun of the game.  If a player goes over the mark then that is what the referee is there for.

Took in the game today with my son who is 9. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it.

First half Clyde were absolutely horrendous and could easily have been more than 2 down due to a severe lack of defensive know how, and effort it seemed. The Penalty on half time gave them a route back into the game they didn't really deserve.

Second half and Clyde looked like a different team. They were snapping at Peterhead from the off, the urgency in their play far removed from the apathy shown in the 1st period. Goodwillie showed why he is so pivotal to the Bully Wee with a fantastic equaliser. In the words of my son "he sent the defender to the shops".

Clyde continued to press and were looking likely to take the lead but couldn't quite find the elusive 3rd. Despite how unpopular Jones seems to be with the Clyde Support, I felt he offered far more than Tade and Clyde noticeably dropped off after that change was made.

For the last 20 it was anyone's game with chances at either end. A draw was probably about right.

The wee man loved the noise and atmosphere shown by the Clyde fans we were sitting amongst and was asking in the car when we can go again! All in all great value for his £1 entry fee👍🏻

Glad you and your son enjoyed the game

Always good to see how a neutral views our game

Amazed that you thought Jones was any good.  Give it a few more games to see what us Clyde fans really know as the truth

I will not comment much on yesterday beyond saying it was embarrassing. Lack of quality, lack of fight, lack of ideas. However, having witnessed some other performances and selections in past months not a major surprise.

More importantly than any particular match is the structure and direction of the club.

Irrespective of what needs to be changed and the decisions around  that, it is key to get everyone pointing in the same direction. You simply cannot make a success of any organisation if people involved disagree repeatedly, those involved change regularly (how many Board members have we had since 2003?) and most importantly you stumble from summer to summer with more losses than  triumphs.

    1. For me the fan ownership is open to question.  It has been tried, it was an option when we needed some stability immediately after the initial financial problem in 2004, but I cannot see how it ever will provide a platform for taking the club back to any level beyond where we are/have been in the past 5 years. The only way it may work is if we appointed a strong Board with a strong leader and implemented a strategic plan that people could support and get behind. You simply cannot imagine DL having to face a grilling on current performances, or the recruitment team being questioned about signing quality.

    2. Location - either decide we are staying or we are going. Present a plan and reasons to the support, explain it all (irrespective of confidentiality) and get on with it. Stop the conversation about if/maybe/could we.

    3. Find a way to have a proper youth set-up. We cannot, imho,  progress without one. Even clubs like Clydebank have a strong under 20s.

    4. Either give staff a performance contract which they live up to or leave - otherwise we will continue to suffer. For example, has the recruitment department got objectives that can be measured? Have they failed in those objectives, beyond someone's opinion?

Unless real fundamental change is made in thinking, planning and direction is made we will repeat this sort of season ad infinitum.

You make a lot of valid points

    1.  As you said the CIC gave stability at a time when was needed but isnt viable going forward.  We need someone to come in and take things by the scruff of the neck which isnt possible with the CIC in place.

    2. I dont understand this stay or move argument.  We have no serious money to invest in a ground or anyone willing to give us one so i cant see how moving is even remotely an option to be considered unless there is some option out there that is being kept under wraps.

    3. Do we even have a youth set up?  I remember years ago going with my Dad on a Monday night to watch the reserve team and seen the likes of Iain Ferguson come through the reserves to the first time then on to bigger and better things.  We cant afford to go and buy players so our only hope is to generate one or two players to each season to play in the first team.  In the 80/90s we consistently produced a player or two each season who could go on a play in the first team.  Who was the last young player we brought through ourselves?  Craig Bryson?  Which was over 15 years ago.

I dont have the answers but some serious consideration needs to be made about the direction of the club and what the plan is for the next 3, 5, 10 years.

Without it I can see us drifting and ending up in Lowland League within the next 5 years or so then the club as I have supported for over 40 years will be dead as i know it.

Great to see the chairman come out and say how disappointed the board are and that all football operations are under scrutiny.......

Personally I don’t think this is enough

The board should surely have seen the performance and result yesterday coming.  I certainly did as we haven’t played well in any game this season (I have seen them all except two v Dumbarton home and v QP away)

DL should have been made aware in no uncertain terms before the game that a result like that he could just forget getting on the team bus back to Broadwood

We are sleep walking to L2.

Sometimes you reach the point that just a new voice and presence gives the boost you need.  I think we have reached that point plus would give the new manager a month to assess  things before January

Suppose it's easy for players to look good in training when it's shite v shite.

Yeah that is probably the reason I was thinking.

It easy in any environment for everyone to look good when everyone is of the same level as each other

only problem is rather than L1 level the players are all probably lower L2 or mid/high lowland league level

We haven’t looked L1 in any game this season other than flashes of brilliance from DGW in games that is the reason why we are 9th rather than 10th

  8. 41 minutes ago, Fast_Action said:

Has DL given a post match interview?

    Yeah, usual p#sh

Saying that we are great in training and doesn’t know how we don’t turn it into game time

To me the reason is quite clear - basically the players aren’t good enough and haven’t been all season.  So result to me wasn’t a surprise

We needed to raise our game and we were even poorer than we normally are and Clydebank probably raised their game but probably by not much

There should be a gulf in class between L1 and West of Scotland league but yesterday just showed me we aren’t L1 level class be and majority of team are probably lower L2 or lowland league level which made the game a 50/50 game

We only have DGW and if you nullify him we don’t pose a threat and their baldy CH had DGW in him back pocket all game

We’d be better off setting up a group to handle scouting and transfers. Recruitment could not be any worse as most of us could see the signings were garbage in July despite Danny waxing lyrical.

Yeah looking at DL comments on the likes of Jones, Mortimer, McGrath and Andrew’s is laughable now

He really shouldn’t have said anything as saying what he did really just opens himself to ridicule if things don’t work out

  10. 50 minutes ago, SLClyde said:

You’d think, but we have groups set up to look at both…

    Yeah I know - madness

There is other more relevant things groups could be set up to look into IMO

Unless we have someone ready to invest £ms or we have a free ground to move into it ain’t going to happen

  11. 8 minutes ago, SLClyde said:

I actually don’t think he should’ve left after last year, there was so much uncertainty last season he done a good job to keep us up.

The recruitment this year has been atrocious as has been said many times. Miles off what was needed. Losing to broomhill and now Clydebank along with a poor league campaign.

Change needed. We also need to decide whether we stay at broadwood or move, having this debate dug up every few years is a distraction at best and not a good one.

We can agree to disagree.  Surviving by scoring with 10 mins to go last game isn’t a good job

I don’t get this stay at Broadwood or leave debate.  We don’t have the funds or a free ground to move to so the debate is a nonstarter

  12. Where do we begin?

Was I surprised by the result not really but it shows the level that we are at which isn’t even tier 6

Thought both sides were poor 1st half but we got worse in 2nd half when Clydebank could see they weren’t up against anything and in the end 2-0 flattered us when could have easily been 3 or 4

I really wish DL the best and that he could  turn things round but I don’t see it happening as there has been no evidence at all this year that we have a team capable to complete at L1 and as has been shown on two occasions significantly below L1 level

The buck stops with DL and it is time for a change to give someone else a month to assess things before trying to change things in Jan

So because the Glasgow branch still like him he’s to stay?

Come on, his times up and to be honest has been for a while now.

Yeah agree, really should have went at the end of last season which was when his time should have been up.

I sensed from today that the support has now turned against DL but think he brought himself down by standing arguing with fans while the game is going on when he should have been concentrating on the game

In all seriousness can we appreciate that outstanding move from Goody to get past the defenders on the right side and then through to tade who missed the absolute sitter argh!! But tade is a gamechanger, just ashame he doesn't have 90 mins in him.

Have to agree that passage of play by Goodie was outstanding.  Don’t know he managed it

Reality is Tade offers more in 10 mins that Jones does in 10 games

  15. improvement on recent performances and was fearing the worst when EF took the lead but good comeback.

Started the game well, fell out the game during middle third of game and came back strong after EF scored

Lucky ref didn’t see the clear handball from Docherty

solid Performances from Rumsby, Cuddihy, Goodie and Tade’s 15 min cameo

    Three well taken goals

Again poor performances for Splaine and just don’t see what Kennedy offers.

3 games undefeated.  Have to take all the positives we can at the moment
