  1. Sat next to Paul Weller at the Clinique counter in Selfridges in London about 15 years ago. A very nice friendly guy you wouldn’t have realised was a celebrity unless you knew.
  2. Isn’t it likely to become irrelevant anyway cause of the amendments to the EA and birth sex as a defined / protected characteristic?
  3. If more ballots have been sent than active members, there is clearly an issue with the process and it has to be null and voided. I can’t see that any other argument / justification is valid.
  4. Is this some kind of tenuous justification for how votes cast should just about balance out, and it all fine then?
  5. A fair counter, though I suspect much of her argument will be that the closed ranks / secretive nature of the party under Nicola Sturgeon was not working. The previous leadership has tried to sell some internal utopia where all are in agreement to the electorate, and if we didn’t already know, it’s now being proven beyond doubt that is not the case. Kate Forbes would simply have to state that while she believes in the party, she doesn’t believe it was being led properly.
  6. I say this as someone really quite anti SNP, but there should be no problem at all with her saying things have been a fucking shambles and she’s here to improve them. The honesty should be commended rather than a stick to beat her with.
  7. A welcome development from what has otherwise been a shambles.
  8. I recall now the reason it wouldn’t be possible to donate your empties, was that the deposits would be in the form of a voucher to be used in the store they were returned to. Has that now changed to include a cash return that can be used as you please?
  9. Is there any update yet on whether it is going to be possible to donate your deposits. Eg - schools doing collections for funds etc? I recall there was some reason it was not going to be allowed, but that may have changed.
  10. Some major Aberdeen voting against SPL vote reform energy there.
  11. It’s only PTFE that is excluded in Scotland. So in reality that is only milk cartons. Regular plastic coke / irn bru bottles etc (over I think 50ml) are all included.
  12. The English one doesn’t intend to include glass.
  13. Nothing in the SNP stronghold of Dundee is a bit of a surprise there tbh.
  14. Interestingly, all standing are either binning, or delaying DRS (in some form), as of this morning. Looks like the beginning of the end for the Bute House Agreement.
  15. Say what you like about her, but I do like that she is the only one willing to tell interviewers to f**k off with some of their line of questioning. I say that as someone without a horse in the race.
  16. 1 - The SNP are not the independence movement itself. 2 - Good riddance to them if they do indeed crumble.
  17. I may not have been entirely clear, but so there is no ambiguity here, the pubs that wouldn’t be missed are the soulless chains and hybrid pubs that try to please everyone. Proper boozers should be protected at all costs.
  18. I genuinely reckon the eating of meat could be outlawed in the next 50 years. Think it’ll be gradual, but the shift is already beginning due to climate change fears and the impact of intense animal farming.
  19. Arguably there are still too many licensed establishments, if we are using pubs in your graph as an all encompassing term. The shite places that can’t work out what they are, holding the soulless middle ground, wouldn’t be missed imo.
  20. I can see a situation whereby Forbes becomes FM and some of the more liberal recent SNP members defer to the Greens. Unfortunately for the Greens I do think they will increase in numbers / seats, but likely lose their seat at the big table as they just don’t fit in with the views of the SNP under news leadership.
  21. I honestly can’t see any male standing being a popular choice with women at the moment. Not sure if that’s enough to totally work against Angus Robertson getting over the line, but it will make it significantly harder / closer for him. I think Forbes is a much more realistic possibility than some are admitting.
  22. I’m not defending it. Simply stating that till it is raised to a certain level, many are absolutely oblivious to what is going on it politics.
  23. People were possibly not aware violent sex offenders, whose offences were towards women, were being housed in women’s prisons.
  24. At the risk of playing devils advocate, many may not have been aware at all of the situation as it didn’t get much coverage. They can’t be blamed for not being aware of an issue they didn't even know of.
