Possibly to accommodate a back 3

Maybe not but effectively got two first choice right backs now. Can’t complain, but giving our supposed ‘budget’, seems a strange one. For me a left sided defender, winger and striker/s needed.

Would McClelland not be in back 3 before Houston?

We're in one of the worst positions to be as a FT club. We probably offer the lowest wages of any FT side and therefore PT sides will be a better option for many players as they can make more money playing football and holding down a job.

Could not agree more. We were against a lowland League side for Minimaugh that tells us how difficult it is to recruit. Agree MB has to do well with mostly his players now as if he doesn't it will affect his ambitions as well. Was it not a 2 1/2 year deal he signed? Top 4 would be an improvement but I still believe he needs experience in the side. At the game on Saturday McClelland and McGuffie were the only players I heard on the pitch and we were very young.

  3. Well for what its worth I thought we were totally outplayed for 80 mins today if they had a decent forward we would have lost by a few. Todd and Wilson hobbling off is not good news. With Wilson it is no surprise that's why I thought we may re-sign McGrory to play that 6 role but time moves on. EK had a way of playing we did not were poor in the middle of the park. Cochrane and Minimaugh were easily bullied in midfield and di not take the game to ek. Brown from Ek had the freedom of the park. The right winger had our full backs on toast both halves. I really hope MB has a couple of rabbits to pul out of the hat as with this squad we will struggle big time.

    Disappointing move for him.

I honestly think it is a sensible move for career progression rather than jumping straight to premiership. Connor Shields done it and he ended down at QP on loan. If he scores 15-20 goals in championship then can take next step plus QP paying good money if rumours are true. Heard we got £15k for him.

  5. To me sign a good quality 18/19 and then cover for injuries with reserves if required. Not poor quality that has not cut it for a number of seasons even with ourselves or other teams and then with our rumours of a run of mill journeymen to try and get us out of this division. Falkirk are miles ahead of us in quality of player they are signing. Hamilton are signing experience in Martin and Kilday we are signing kids compared to them. I really hope MB proves me wrong again but I have the fear with standard of player he is signing.

Not too difficult is it. Not questioning MB as a coach but his recruitment this summer seems questionable, his good recruitment in January though makes me feel slightly better about it

I'm sorry but we had the optimism of the signings we made last summer and we know how that went. But we have a selection of young underrated players by previous clubs and others we are linked to that are underwhelming to say the least. No matter how good a coach MB is we should be going for a better quality of player. Burrell is a classic example the boy can score goals where we have 4 that can't. Kilday is another example surely we can compete with Hamilton for wages. It will be really interesting to see how the start of the season goes with these players we have brought in. We know what the re-signings can and can't do but the rest we need to see.

Russell McLean rumoured to be coming in (not sure if that means signing or invited for pre season etc)

If this is true we have him, Docherty, Reilly and Irving who did not score 10 goals between them last season. That is concerning. And we expect the most experienced in Reilly to get punted. Great post by skyline earlier. Midfield looks strong agree good to have 4 centre midfielders so maybe MB has another one lined up. Think we need another centre back who could play left or right back as both Houston and church missed a good few games last year.

  8. Happy with Connelly signing on again. McClelland is as interesting as Docherty. Slated by other teams. The fact he was sent back early from loan at Cove when they were so poor worries me. We are going into the season again with a younger squad but a lot of players we have re-signed have another years experience at this level.

Paul McKay and Josh Todd are only really experienced players.

But willing to give him the time to get his players to settle in together.
