Nice little piece on Falkirk at halftime there on the BBC Airdrie Partick game.

Mcglynn confirming most of the budget has been spent retaining existing players and won't be as much movement this summer as previous summer.

Mentioned the 7271 crowd and few interviews post game. James McFadden saying he thinks we'll be right up there next season and other two saying we've been missed.

Good videos with the players and pictures with the fans. Enjoyed it.

  2. Out of these players I’d either keep release:

    Mackay- Release

    Allan- negotiate with a club

Lawal- Release (although I do think there is a player in there somewhere)

    Mackie- Keep

    McGinn- Leaving

    Shanley- Release

    Ross/Tait/Long/Bisland- End of loan.

Forget Allan as he’s in contract and McKenna who has just signed that’s still 8 positions that need filled either by new signings or people re-signing.

  3. Signing Ross (and Tait of course) is the priority for me. Miller I thought had a poor game going by his standards and the first thing Ross does when he comes on is go by about 2 people and get up the byline. He’d be an outstanding option to have and easier to sign IMO since he’s out of contract.

    Brilliant day and brilliant night.

My son was stressed out his box at half time and I told him not to worry as this team will get the job done - and we did.

We were both in tears after the penalty.

Not giving a f**k what anyone says, when it’s your team, and your local team and your family’s team it means much, much, much more.

I’ve only celebrated a few goals more than I did after Spencer’s penalty yesterday. What a massive relief and achievement.

  5. Shout out to MacIver. I thought he done tremendously well at an uncomfortable position for him. To come from 2-0 down with no centre halves, our first choice striker playing at centre half and having no cover defensively that’s an outstanding result that typifies this squad and season. Fair play to each and every single one of them. They’ll all go down as legends 💙

Bobby Wales would have a field day against McGinn at centre back, anyone know what's wrong with Shanley?

Does him and Stevens not play on the wings? If McCann and Yeats do their jobs we’d be fine. Both Stevens and Wales were subbed at HT yesterday so I see them only playing a half again next Saturday.

Agree about Bisland and didn’t look interested, one I don’t think anyone will miss. Will McGlynn put Bisland with Mackie? Or possibly use McGinn for his farewell appearance? I’d go for MacIver at CB.

MacIver did play at CB for Alloa in the playoffs last year. Big call but I think it will be the same back for that finished yesterday.

Can we not draft Logan Sinclair back. He is only playing juniors so should be okay?

Yes I spoke to him mid week and he thought he would have been recalled after Coll was red carded. Surely should be recalled for Saturday at least for cover.

  9. That ref was abysmal which was summed up with McGlynn getting booked since he never really gets involved with referees. Thought the Bisland was one soft but would need to see it back. No idea what the second penalty was given for but the players were adamant it wasn’t a penalty. They were playing for fouls all day so they could load our box. Bisland had a poor game IMO which was summed up by the third goal he should have cleared. That being said, we had more than enough chances to win three games, with Morrison being particularly off it.

  10. I was having a think watching the Elliot’s played of the year video on the Facebook page- but I’d argue that Stephen McGinn has been our most important signing in many a year. Not just for his playing efforts last year but in terms of his influence on the dressing room. Something we haven’t had since the McCracken/Kerr/Miller days etc. I really don’t think we can underestimate how big a help he has been this year in winning us the title, and that’s been from the changing room rather than the pitch. I wouldn’t mind keeping him in a player / coaching role (more so coach) he’s had that big an influence on us.

  11. It does worry me that we’ll only have Mackie and Henderson for the rest of the season, especially up against Tommy Goss next week and an Annan team giving everything to avoid the play offs. One injury and we’ll have one available CB within a pairing who haven’t played much at CB this season.

  12. I don’t think that’s a red, I think it’s a yellow. He wins the ball clearly and then the boy goes into him. Do we just not want Donaldson to challenge? If he takes the man first then it’s a clear red. Didn’t even catch the boy in the face. Anyway, that was McCann’s worst game for us. Terrible goal, kept getting done with a long ball and terrible passes constantly but he’s allowed one bad game. Nesbitt was clear man of the match and the ref was horrendous.

That's an incredibly, incredibly harsh take on MacIver above. I feel there's a legitimate conversation to be had as to whether he's clinical enough (I don't think he is) or whether he should be our starting striker in the Championship next season (I'm undecided on this), but he's played a significant role this year and done better than any of us expected.

I’m not saying we wouldn’t have won the league without him, but it would be a lot more tighter without him. As a coach myself, I can see why McGlynn loves him as he brings so much to the team. Your average football fan won’t notice that work and impact he has without the ball, they’ll just look at the goal tally which is fine I’m not slating them but I bet if you ask Nesbitt, Miller, Ross and Morrison they’d all admit they wouldn’t have the amount of goals they do without MacIver.

MacIver against Stirring Albion is by far the best goal from a footballing perspective.

You took the words out of my mouth. An absolutely outstanding goal and if Man City had done that against a Luton or what have you, we’d never hear the end of it. Some header too by big Ross.
