What was the score?

I don't know why it was chopped off either. Getting the 6 points was vital, I would be happy with 2 draws for the two away games. Would love to see Alfie get a run at number 9 in those two games, the big pitches would give him the space to run at the centre halves and cause some havoc. Gives Higgy a rest too.

Good win today, should have been a lot easier but getting the 3 points is the main thing.

Barjo's run was right in front of me too, I don't think the queen's player got booked for the trip. Barjo made a big difference when he came on, brought some fresh energy to the team.

I was mainly talking about giving Aggy a run at number 9 when Austin is out injured, which is quite often! Agree that Cardle has not had the impact that he's had in previous seasons, but he does get well watched by the opposition sometimes coming up against two defenders, but he's still an exciting player to watch as he can still make things happen. Agree with you about qos. They had a good spell at the start of the second half but their attempts at goal were woeful to say the least.

I only suggested it as I've never been a fan of replacing a player with another starting 11 player, then replacing the latter with a squad player. That way you're weakening two positions instead of one. Higgy has played really well at centre forward, but that's obviously not his best position. I think that Aggy would revel in the space he would find playing along the front, feeding him balls in the channels would give him the chance to run at, or outrun the centre backs. Plus he has more energy and pace to shut down the centre backs than Higgy has. I also think that Higgy would be more than happy to play out wide again. We've only scored 6 goals in 10 league matches, so anything is worth a shot. Aggy's finishing can be erratic but he would get better at it through time.

Injuries are a bit concerning. I presume that Forster and Austin are injured, and now Martin also injured, looked like it could be hamstring. Anyone think that Aggy playing through the middle would be a good move? This would then allow Higgy to go wide, although he has played quite well as the number 9.

The next two games are qos and Clyde, two wins would see us climb the table, anything less would see us struggle I think

I think most Kelty fans would be happy with 6th. Their latter seasons in the Juniors and the seasons in the Seniors up to and including last season, the club had expectations of winning the particular league that they were in, and that they generally achieved. However, all at the club probably realise that League 1 is getting towards their level, and I would be happy if they could establish themselves in that league. On another subject, I thought that the attendance was higher than 574, it looked closer to 700 but I could be entirely wrong, not for the first time at that!

You've also just come up against Kelty who are now ready for League 1. Sounds odd but when Kevin Thomson left the club it was at a time when there wasn't enough of it for the manager to recruit the players needed to survive in League 1. It's only been in the last couple of weeks that the recruitment was completed, and it's now a different Kelty to what it was at the start of the season. I think their performance yesterday suggested that they could manage a mid-table place come the end of the season.

We all see different things in a game and the thing I noticed most about Airdrie was their lack of fight, especially in the second half. They did make a bright start to the game and I thought that it was only a matter of time before they scored, but a mix of too many passes around the box and poor finishing prevented that. However, overall you must have been doing something right to have been second top at kick-off time, so maybe it was just a bad day at the office yesterday?

Airdrie slightly the better side in the first half, but Kelty much the better side from then on. It was good to see them play so well, and see so many excellent individual performances as well. The ruled out goal happened right in front of me and I was gobsmacked to see the goal being chalked off as there was absolutely nothing amiss. I thought that he got the penalty claim in the second half wrong too.

It is bizarre, he'll be missed. The last of the Kelty players who survived the step up from the Juniors to the Seniors.

Kelty's poor start to the season was due mainly to the new manager not having enough time to recruit the players needed to compete at League 1. This has now been remedied and things have been looking a bit better recently so I think Airdrie will have a tough game on Saturday.

Was it a strong starting eleven, or were some of the fringe players involved from the start?

He is out injured, as is often the case unfortunately. He missed a lot of matches last season and he's hardly been seen this season so far.

It certainly was! Recent signings helped, Thomson was excellent. It was good to see the team play some good football again. Hope that's the corner turned!

Missed too many games through injury. He will be missed though.

The change of manager mid-off season didn't help as it left the new manager little time to bring in the players needed for a higher league. Also, the change of playing style hasn't helped as the players need time to get used to it. If things don't click in the next month or two, then it could be a very difficult task for the club to escape the relegation zone.

I agree about Aggy, he would be a good number 9 if he could bring a bit of composure to his finishing. Good as he is, Austin is out injured too often, it was the same last season. I would love it though if he was back soon a d remained injury free for the vast majority of the season, but I doubt if that will be the case.

He's the only Kelty player that's survived from their Junior days.
