  1. Absolutely. it's an unfortunate fact of life, that at our level, there are many a better part time player than what we have full time. if we had chosen to go to the hybrid model a couple of years back, there would have been a good chance that we could have been promoted by now. A full time team only makes sense when the financial structure permits and when you are playing in a league where full time players are the norm. Being full time in our league against part time teams does not guarantee success.
  2. I think there are 2 separate things at play here :- 1. The current BoD are miles and away better than previous. They may not get everything right 100% of the time, but they in general have made huge strides to improve fan/club relationships and lay out our financial situation in a much more transparent function. To have "fans" on the BoD through the Patrons Group and the FSS is a huge stride forwards in the way the club is being run. I don't think there could be any better way, given our financial restrictions, for us to move forwards. There is no "sugar daddy" FFC fan out there willing to lose cash on a League 1 Scottish club. To try and bring in an outside investor is playing with fire. We have been there before and got our fingers burnt. My opinion only, those who complain about the BoD should try and get themselves elected by one of the supporters Group and attempt to make the changes or improvements they see fit. 2. Again only my opinon, McGlynn is rightly getting pelters. He is a dinosaur in modern football terms and cannot change. I think as the season goes on we will get more and more frustrated with his decisions and the style of football will be the same as last season. Yes it was the BoD's decision to appoint him. He steadied the ship but has not taken us forward. The results at the end of last season and the predictions of "DF", Raith fans and a few others were borne out. He should have been punted then. We can't punt him now....not for a few more weeks anyway. Possibly the BoD's thinking is in a financial sense. We have lost so much cash paying out previous managers contracts. In this respect the BoD are caught between a rock and a hard place. If they do decide to get rid of McGlynn, I don't envy them trying to bring in a new manager that will bring us the league playing the footy we want to see. if they get lucky then all good and well, but the chances are that it could be another disaster. My caveat to that would be to bring in someone with a knowledge of the game in Scotland and someone who has relatively modern ideas, rather than another old guy who has been round the block a few times. Even then the chances of success are probably 50/50, as we. have seen with Rennie and Sheeran. Bottom line is, I'm glad I'm not the one making these decisions !
  3. Hard to disagree with much of the above. Very much of the same old.....sideways.....back...sideways...back....to the goalie. Even after they scored, there looked to be absolutely no change to the style of play. Far to slow and ponderous. Defence looked shaky every time they attacked. Early days , but unfortuately no real positives from today's match to suggest that we have changed much and what it takes to win the league.
  4. I thought I saw a post from the club that hospitality sales are now open for all matches. Is it done through the ticketing website ? Edited - I tried but couldn't find it. I'm still sure the club were advertising it this week. Best to give them a ring.
  5. The only problem is that McGlynn is not a rookie manager and has been round the block for a good number of years now. Although I hope I am wrong, I am not 100% sure he has the capability to change.
  6. New kit is not too shabby at all. I like the reference to some of our iconic old tops. The other thing is it’s not *generic* with a Falkirk badge stamped on it. Could be one of the all time greats that everyone talks about in the future. Well done to O’Neills and those in the club who signed off on it.
  7. Maybe missed a wee trick to encourage sponsors with a "treasure chest" under one of the squares. Could have been packed full of goodies e.g. a kebab pie and bovril voucher
  8. Think from what I've read the old pitch had to be recycled by the installation firm as part of the contract
  9. Maybe it’s just me seeing the irony and the sarcastic humour in the latest vid, but I quite liked it. Something a wee bit different. The EEP stunt was truly horrendous. Whoever thought that one up needs a good talking to.
  10. Go back and read the posts. Are you trying to restart an argument that was over and done with a few days ago? I orginally was posting that the club could have used the 1876 vehicle instead of FF..... which gave nothing in return. At least with the 1876 club you have the chance of winning a prize. I have not stated anything negative re FSS.... on the contrary they are doing a great job.
  11. Noticed on Facebook that the Equity Bairns sponsored his shirt and raised £280 for a Ukrainian refugee charity by raffling it off! Good stuff
  12. That was the point I was trying to make in my original post. The club already had a vehicle for those who didn’t want to join the FSS in the 1876 club. They didn’t have to offer the FF, which when originally mooted, looked as though it would be in direct competition and identical to FSS but without anything in return.
  13. OK, it’s not a con…...it’s a way of taking money from some fans for nothing in return. Is that better?
  14. The point was that It was never needed. As was previously posted and the real crux of my argument, the club could have just promoted the 1876 Club instead. With reference to the FSS, there were several discussions at the time regarding its potential effect on new membership. Luckily that doesn't seem to have been the case. In my opinion, the FF option shouldn't have gone ahead at all. The long suffering fans have helped the club out on numerous occasions for nothing in return. This just seems like another scheme to continue in that vein.
  15. FWIW I have already told some on the Board what my thoughts on this are. If we are going to go down the route of English language lessons and the absolute meaning of "con"..... then perhaps I should have said "screw more cash out of punters for nothing in return".
  16. Stop playing semantics. The FF certainly didn't help the FSS cause when it was announced.... The club could have just promoted the 1876 Club as an alternative. There was absolutely no need for it.
  17. Because it 1. detracts from the FSS and 2. The club already have a monthly donation scheme with the 1876 Club. There is no need for another vehicle to extract cash….anything that confuses, which this scheme has the potential to do, can be mistrued as a “con”
  18. Good point! If someone just wants to donate the cash to the club, or because they have an issue with the FSS, then why not join the 1876 Club? At least you have the chance of winning a prize. The FF is a bit of a con.
  19. Blue torch? …..is that opposed to a green torch or an orange torch?
  20. The Patrons only have 2 seats on the Board. 2 are with the remit of the FSS. 2 if wished for, by major shareholders (I think Gordon Wright is in there on this). Only one of the FSS Board members is also a Patron, but that is because he was voted in by the FSS. Looks OK to me, although I would like to see an independent Chairperson to oversee the Board.
  21. Im not sure that the council own the floodlights. Is it not considered part of the playing pitch and Stadium owned by the club? I’m sure someone itk can confirm. However, the club were informed that the floodlights were not up to scratch by the SPFL for televised night matches and certainly didn’t meet UEFA requirements (should we have won the cup lol). The ref at the Ayr also put in an official complaint re the lighting. Therefore, improving the floodlighting was always required for next season.
  22. The FSS were given 2 board seats as part of the 3 legged stool model. They did not have enough shares for 2 appointed directors but it was thought crucial to the fan ownership model and the club committed to this. The FSS now have enough shares to legitimately have 2 directors. ……so get off your high horse and cut the constant negativity. If you are not happy with the way things are being run, as previous posters have indicated, put yourself forward as a director.
  23. Just saw on FB that wee Luigi has left FFCTV. Alluded to a fall out. Surely the club haven’t gone back to “dissing” volunteers as in the past? Hope it isn’t that, but he did comment he didn’t want to leave. Anyone got the gen?
