  1. A lot of the above is a knee jerk reaction to a few bad losses. But, thats what football will always bring. As long as we are winning the majority of fans are happy. After a couple of losses a melt down happens.

My opinion, for what it's worth. Apart from the re-introduction of some form of Academy, I haven't seen any progress anywhere.

The Sheerin / Holt internal politics issue was always going to come to a head at some point.  Sheerin has to toe the line and he can't really say what he thinks. The idea that he has the final say in signings may be true...it may be not. We will never know. However, did he really sanction the signing of Holt's laddie ??  If Wilson and Ompreon were his idea, then he has to shoulder some of the blame for the predicament we may find ourselves in if we don't start a wee run of wins.

Have we seen any improvement with respect to the way the club has been run with the exception of appointing a new CEO ? from what I gather nothing much has changed except we now have on online deal with Greaves to support the shop. If anything we have stepped backwards with possibly less investment through AT/ KK leaving. Sammy coming in was always going to be a sop to the fans, but realistically he will not have the contacts for a good wee while to do the job properly even if the goodwill is there. Plus, he is new to this type of employment.

As for the Rawlins / Deans / other Board members......has anything really changed from when the MSG were in power?  I can't see much in the way of (promised) investment other than add new levels of admin.  They knocked back a significant sum from the NB, for reasons that still don't sit well with me.  For what? ..... to stay in power without doing anything ??? Maybe it's just as well for those fans who were intending to invest, as the cash would likely have been used to fill the black hole in the finances that will inevitably occur if we don't get promoted. I dread to think what the club will do with any cash that any Fans Investment Group might bring.

All in all, until we are sitting comfortably at the top o the league....the negativity will not go away !

  2. Last season we had a cushion from the start we made, simply because  other teams were more guff than we were.  We still didn’t make the play offs. Looks like we won’t have that luxury this season. We need to do a “Partick” very shortly or we will be consigned to Div.3 for a 4th season, which for a club our size and support is bordering on scandalous.

I’m just glad we’ve got true Falkirk men at the helm who I’m sure are desperate to lead us out of this clusterfuck. I dread to think where the Club would be if it was being run by folk who didn’t care as much as these guys evidently do.

That ship has sailed. I'm dreading to think where the club will be if we don't get out of this league.

Maybe those (Banta etc.) with a link to the BoD can provide some insight on what The Rawlins and Deans will change for season 2022-2023. An assistant to the CEO ? .... a new contract for Holt's Mrs ?

    Afternoon lads,

Bit of a random one for you but how would you rate John Hughes from his time in charge of yourselves?

Obviously with Hopkin away there’s been a bit of a clamour from our fans demanding we hire him but it’s not easy to forget the massive balls up he made at Raith.

Just my opinion.....media darling and overrated (this will probably generate a few comments on here, in support of his tenure at our club). I think he needs a good "right hand" man to keep him in check and that is when he has been at his most successful. His track record when he goes off on his own hasn't been great.  There are also probably some other reasons why he isn't employed at the moment.

  5. It's a small step in the right direction.

We should never get excited by players or results at the lower age levels. It breeds a good understanding of the game, but quite often in the early teen stages, the physical attributes of a player can outweigh actual ability...until everyone catches up.

However, even if only one gem is unearthed per season , it's doing its job.

  6.  I have actually enjoyed watching us for the most part this season. However, without a proper striker, another season in the Seaside Leagues beckons.

As SD stated ...if Keena gets injured we are in the big pooh. Even then he is not the most prolific of scorers. As it stands we have to rely on Telfer, Morrison, Nesbitt and Dixon to get our goals.

It pains me to say this, but we should possibly have kept Dowds as he is better than what we have on the bench.  We should also have spent the cash we use on Holt(Jnr), Omperon and Wilson to splash out out on someone half decent who is coming in for (at least) one season with the sole aim to get us promoted. Money talks and I'm sure a half decent striker would respond to the money.

Another season in Div 3 would be a disaster for the club.

Financially I don't think we'll be much worse off than those around us. You only have to look at the full-time club's attendances (championship and below) over the last two weeks and compare our 4,043 to that. We'll be fishing in the same waters as them for players of similar quality

    Killie 5,004
    Partick Thistle 3,038
    Dunfermline 2,928
Hamilton 2,595 (over 50% Killie fans)
    Inverness 2,032
    Raith 1,569
    Morton 1,429
    QotS 1,232
Airdrie 1,188 (over 50% Falkirk fans)
    Queens Park 401

I know a lot of those clubs received that extra chunk of money from the Government in January(?) this year, but I'd imagine that's been well spent by now

I don't think any clubs finances are great..... but I would imagine we have been outliving our means for a couple of seasons now. If I remember corrrectly we had a small surplus in the bank at the last AGM but, more than likely, that has been eaten up by not getting promoted, reduced sposnorship etc.. Plus we seem to be quite top heavy in admin now which makes our position to pay for players a little bit more untenable.

I just cannot see us bringing anyone in on loan unless we off-load to compensate. Time will tell !

  8. I think our biggest issue is if we have to pay for the loanee or if we can free up cash by farming some out.

I would imagine our finances are not brilliant at the moment.  We got next to nowt for our league position last season, a lot of sponsorship has not matierialised (I know of a couple of companies who havent bought this year yet their advertising boards are still up), shirt sponsorship is down with Clarke EPOS, fans shirt sponsorship is down substantially etc. The one saving grace was the better than expected uptake of season tickets.

Basically we just dont have the cash.

When do you ever see a centre back brought on when you are winning a game? If he goes out on loan he'll be playing week in week out which will benefit him more than sitting watching games go by on our bench.

Put a recall option in the loans and if Mccann or Dixon do get injured then they are brought straight back.

I’ll edit that. .....when coasting bring Weekes on for a run out. Lemon arguably could start matches.

If McCann or Dixon get crocked Id much prefer to have lemon about as cover.  I'd have Dixon at left back before C Williamson if it's going to be longer than a week or so and I'd dread to think what Mackay and hall would be like.  Lemon seemed very comfortable at this level so I really don't see him learning much from playing in the shitey lowland league.

    Exactly!

Early days, but from what I have seen, Lemon is the pick of the bunch and strolled through his matches. These are the type of guys we need to bring on when coasting a match and giving them as much game time as possible in this division, with a view (and hope) to making their 1st team place permanant.

Weekes is another who has shown that he is as good as we already have.  I wouldn't mind it if he replaced McGuffie in the squad.

Weekes, Williamson and Lemon been offered out on loan to Lowland league clubs.

That’s a nonsense if true. These 3 guys should be kept with the 1st team squad to help with development and get some game time. Lemon in particular looks a find a should be pushing for a 1st team place as the season goes on.

I don’t see how you can drop Hall.

    He has been excellent.

McKay will just need to bide his time.

Easy! You play who you consider to be your best players in each position or how they contribute to the team . If Sheerin considers McKay to be better than Hall with less chance of a cock up then McKay it is. Tough for Hall, but that’s fitba’.

So far this is the best Falkirk team to watch in many year (yes it’s early days bla bla bla). Not sure why we’re still talking about some botched bid by a group called the Navy Blue that nobody knows anything about.

I never hear a peep about Alan Gow these days or anyone else who’s tried to invest. It’s almost as if people have their own agendas 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

If you read back there was a load of discussion re the NB and their intentions....and it’s pretty clear BPM is heavily involved. Plus the reason why we are still talking is because of a possible black hole in the finances which will impact on the clubs ability to bring in half decent players in January if required.

It could be argued that the BoD have got lucky with Sheerin and the run of results/quality of play has deflected from the state of club governance, which is a separate issue but will have an impact at some time in the future.

Gow was commentating for Airdrie TV. That tells you all about his association with our club. He was only a front man for some dubious group who certainly weren’t Falkirk guys like the NB.

I think they compromised on Holt but anyway your correct that there is now some positives coming out the club, Im fully behind Rawlins and his plans for the club but it needs further investment and that's why I and many others think the navy blue was a missed opportunity - however its passed now and it's on the BoD to find further investment - here's hoping they deliver.

Why would anyone or any group invest the level of cash we are probably talking about, without having at least a parity in the decision making process with the Rawlins ?  Even with an emotional tie to the club, no one (or group) is going put in £500k without something in return!

Everything is rosy in the garden for the moment with respect to the football....and long may it last.  However,  if they had got their first choice (or maybe even 2nd choice) manager.....some may not have been so accomodating to the progress they are making.

As it stands, the jury is still out for me with the Rawlins.  The current make up of the BoD however is another matter !

Unity is critical - as long as the MSG keep their noses out and the 50 guys with their 10 k keep their hands in their pocket we will continue to progress.
The key is that all the guys say they love going to work at the stadium. Off the park we are witnessing a welcome change resulting in much improved player recruitment - Everything seems finally to be moving in the right direction . Get on board !

Both Rawlins and Deans talked about the need for investment from the fans but then rejected a substantial amount (more than the Rawlins have actually put in) due to those investors wanting a say in the running of the club.

Yes we are seeing unity on the park, probably the Sheerin influence.....the new CEO seems to have a good rep, although early days yet....but nothing has convinced me that the BoD are acting in the best interest in terms of club governance. When you reject half a million quid, when cash is tight you better have a good reason. I’ve still to hear one.

On the plus side,  that’s the most organised, hard working, pleasing on the eye to watch team i’ve seen for many a year. Take a bow Sheerin and Grainger.

  16. Think we did OK yesterday given the fact that we only really had one of our (probably) 1st choice defenders playing. It's clear that Miller is only a stop gap given our current situation. To take 3 points at Airdrie is a step forward in the right direction, even if we didn't play great.

For me, the jury is still out on Hetherington. I thought he was a bit iffy with this passes in the 2nd half v Peterhead and was slack again yesterday resulting in his red card. He needs to speed up his play and thought. McCann needs to work on the high diagonal ball as he was suspect every time Airdrie swung one in.

A wee bit disappointed in Ompreon as he looks as though he should cause problems, but hardly kicked a ball in the games he has played. Lemon on the other hand looks a find !

One thing you can't fault of Sheerin's team is the work rate. That team would have been knackered after 50 minutes with the previous managers in charge. Night and day compared with previous seasons.

  17. Interesting game tonight to see the young lads.

Krasniqi struggled at the start but became much better as the game progressed. There is a plyer in there. With Weekes we have for once, another wide guy to Morrison....always wanting to take on defenders and move forward. The 2 highlights were the goalie and Lemon who I thought was outstanding for his 1st game ...the lad strolled it.

Ompreon I'm not sure about, but hope that he learns from tonight. He should have seen this match to stake a place in the front line, but didnt really do anything to justify a start anytime soon. Caught offside too often, the ball didnt stcik to his feet, defenders knocked him of fthe ball too easily. Early days though !

Sorry, but I think that's almost as far off the mark as your "Cove have the league sown up already" post which you made in the middle of June.  More than a month before the league kicked off.

From what I picked up from a signing night recently there will be two development squads. One at U16 level and one at U18. If you assume say 15 players in each squad that's 30 young players on our books, none of whom will be near the first team squad unless Sheerin offers them a deal as he did with the likes of Ben Weekes & Co.

I imagine the players who emerge from the development squad with pro contracts will be no more than 3 or 4 a season, just as they always were when we had an academy.  Some of whom went on to be a lot more than just squad players.

    Time will tell.

Not that far off the mark when the three kids were bumped up to the Senior Squad before even kicking a ball in anger.  At 18 they were either too old or on the cusp of being too old for the U-18 squad.

As for the Cove part.... I'm hoping you are right.......but remember what happened last season between us and Partick. At the moment, I'm more worried about QP !
